with no help from Bush. Not Bush's fault anymore. The issue with Syria was not happening under Bush, it is happening in 2013, not even in Obama's last term. This term, today, 2013, now, here, now. Not past, now today, this year.

Psssst....Bush has not been in office in over 5 years. This was not happening back then. This issue is happening in the current time and Bush has nothing to do with what is happening today, this year.

when in April 1915 Germany dumped tons of chlorine gas on Allied forces, killing more than 15,000. The act was viewed as a war crime. Obama did not do that.

In response to global demands, in 1925 the Geneva Convention outlawed the use, but not the production, of chemical weapons. Obama did not do that.

In 1968, Syria signed onto the multilateral Conference of Disarmament, specifically banning chemical weapons. Obama did not do that.

In January 1993, the (full title) Convention on the Prohibition of the Development, Production, Stockpiling and Use of Chemical Weapons and on their Destruction was signed. It became effective April 1997. As of June 2013, Syria is one of only 5 countries in 196 member states that has not signed onto this treaty. Obama did not do that.

In September 2001, President Bush declared the War on Terror. Within that context, he then invaded Iraq under the pretext of the imminent dangers of Saddam's WMD program. The wisdom of hindsight tells us the intelligence was faulty at best, and is widely perceived as being false. Consequently, the credibility of the US intelligence complex took a huge hit, which in turn is directly impacting our ability to respond appropriately in the face of the presence of real WMDs in Syria. Obama did not do that.

In December 2003, The Syria Accountability Act was signed into law by George Bush. It addressed, among other things, Syria's state sponsored terrorism, its 3-year presence/occupation in Lebanon, and its ongoing development of WMDs. Obama did not do that.

To pretend that history has nothing to do with this current dilemma is intellectually dishonest and, IMO, appalling.

We live sort of in the country on a cul-de-sac gravel road. All of the houses are less than 5 years old and sit on 1-1/2 to 3 acre lots.
