What a mess!

Posted: Sep 4, 2013

I just cannot believe this whole Syria issue!!  Assad totally called Obama's bluff.  He never should have threatened action against Syria if they used chemical weapons.  Now we are stuck between a rock and a hard place.  If we don't do anything, other countries with bullies for leaders won't take our threats serious anymore.  An the other hand, we can't afford another war nor should we be interfering with what is going on over there.

If it wasn't for that stupid "red line," I'd 100% say stay the heck out of it and let them kill each other over there.  It seems like every country we "help" we only end up making things worse, making more enemies and costing ourselves American lives and a heck of a lot of money.

Let us not forget the guy on video who cut the chest open of another human being and took a bite out of his heart.  These are the people we want to help?  WTH???  Did we learn nothing with Iraq?  We got rid of Saddam and what happened, terrorist flooded the country.  Yeah...that really helped, huh?  Then there is Egypt.  Got rid of Mubarak and the Muslim Brotherhood took over.

I keep hearing the discussions going on and the people running our country are morons and I guess that makes us morons as well since we voted those idiots into office.  UGH!

Is this one of the idiots you speak of? - sm

I'm not sure if he's getting senile, doesn't care, or thinks tihs is some laughing matter, but finding McCain was playing poker on his phone is very disturbing.  Everyone is all worried about the world in potential crisis, and he's having a good ol' time.

Come on. What's McCain supposed to be doing--hyperventilating? - Let's leave this stuff to the haters? A dem

I agree with you, and I'm a conservative. This is not (sm) - LM

a laughing matter, Mr. McCain. If you think it is, perhaps you should step down and let someone take your place.

How do you know that's McCain? Could be Biden. - Hillary, Bill, Pelousy, etc

[ In Reply To ..]
It could even be you. I clicked on the link you provided, but it's just a picture of someone's hands.

Can't stand the senile guy, but a whole picture would back you up better.

Your first clue would be McC's tweet wherein - he tried to laugh off

getting caught and confessed he lost the game.

Sorry, must have missed the part about McCains tweets - in her link
[ In Reply To ..]
I wouldn't doubt it was him (though looked like it could have been Hillary's hands for all we know), but when I opened her link there was nothing about McCain's tweets or anything, just a pic. That's why I was saying that. After all if I had said that was Obama playing video poker wouldn't you want more proof than a picture of some body-less hands. In fact I'll bet you 100 bucks even if there was a tweet with Obama saying he's mad that he lost you wouldn't accept that as proof that it was Obama just because you don't see a face or body to match the pic.

Thanks for the link.
All you had to do was google McCain poker to check the veracity/origin of the pic - I am "her"

And you'd lose that 100 bucks because I never trust anything posted here unless I've researched it first. Otherwise, the cons would get away with all kinds of plagiarism, opinions that are lies, blogs posted as truths, cartoons quoted as truth, cut and paste from RW emails that Con poster represents as own thoughts, articles outdated misrepresented as current, etc.

Hey "her" :-) - It's "me again"
[ In Reply To ..]
I didn't doubt it was McCain's hands (the ages spot gives it away). It might have helped though if you posted a source so that we would know. All you posted was a link of a picture of someone's hands playing poker. You had nothing to back it up.

So the warmonger plays poker during important things going on. That's disgusting. Time for the old folks home.

I have no respect for him whatsoever, but just was looking for a source to back up what you posted.

Mean-spirited rubbish. Our president decided - Congress should be consulted before

[ In Reply To ..]
striking. There is ambiguity in practice about when Congress should be consulted before taking war action, although the Constitution clearly requires congressional approval before declaring war. Reagan and Bush, among others, ignored that requirement, but Obama is tightening up standards.

That he's doing it is not surprising to those who have studied his actions. Watchers are wondering why he is doing this a bit late -- what conditions changed, what he knows that they don't know. although of course far-right propagandists don't put it that way.

But THAT is what this is about. Assad doesn't even come into it. And you should know that. A little responsible reading does not require major intellectual effort from most, or cause emotional distress.

People might well wonder what a brain cooked on years of self-indulgent lies looks like. For effects on function, one can infer results from some of these posts.

He's only doing this - now...

[ In Reply To ..]
because he didn't do it when he intervened in Libya (that worked well) and he took tons of crap about that one and so he can remove all blame from himself when things go badly (and they will). Don't think for a minute he has all of a sudden embraced the constitution - he couldn't care less what congress says, he just wants a big bunch of fall guys.

That was a proper exercise of presidential power in - an emergency, which the Constitution allows and

makes a stupid statement about "not acceptable", "holding people accountable" and then gets caught with his pants down. Now there's something I'd rather not think about. He's really done it this time. Other countries already think he's weak, and as a result that the United States is weak. That is one of his accomplishments in office though, is weakening the country. If you voted for this idiot, please apologize to your children today.

No one had a problem with the line comment - before.

"We have a policy debate right now about what to do about a rogue nation that is bogged down in civil war that is experimenting with chemical weapons. Forget about if the president drew the red line or not. Imagine the president didn't draw the red line."

Senor went on to note that when President Obama did use the "red line" terminology a year ago, "it's not like congressional Republicans were opposed to it."

"No congressional Republican was saying, 'Don't draw that red line,'" he said. "They were never criticizing President Obama for doing too much. They were criticizing him for doing too little. So now he wants to do something."

The red line was drawn - by

[ In Reply To ..]
Calvin Coolidge in 1925 when the US signed onto the Geneva Protocol, though it took another 50 years to fully ratify. It addressed the use of chemical weapons, but not the production, development or storage.

It was drawn again by Richard Nixon in 1972 when the US signed onto the Biological Weapons Convention, which was a supplement to the 1925 protocol that did address possession and development. In fact, as I recall, these disarmament measures had been ongoing throughout the Cold War years.

It was drawn again by Gerald Ford in 1975 when GP ratification was accomplished and the US signatory status was entered into the depository.

It was drawn again by HW Bush on Jan 13, 1993 when the US signed onto the Chemical Weapons Convention. This addressed the use, development, production, storage and destruction of CWs.

It was drawn again by Bill Clinton in 1999 with his executive orders implementing the CWC.

It was drawn again by GW Bush in 2003 when he signed the Syria Accountability Act into law which specifically addressed the CW issue as it relates to Syria, among other things.

That's 5 out of 6 GOP former presidents. Where was all the outrage then when these measures were taken? When did we decide that the US doesn't have to enforce its own laws or live up to our own principles? Have we withdrawn from any of these treaties? This is not about a singular statement the current president echoed from presidents past. It's about maintaining well-established United States and international community norms.

I Got Myself Into A MessOct 20, 2010
I admit it, I did a very stupid thing, but I need advice now.  I moved in with a guy a couple of years ago.  He turned out really quickly to be prince not so charming, bummed around more than worked, smoked dope, did coke and our domestic life became abusive, especially when he was high.  He has been arrested NUMEROUS times in the past two years, yet it seems the law isnt on MY side and he gets out and comes back to my place because that's his "legal residence".  I was ...

Don't Mess With Texas!Jul 22, 2014
It's nice to see at least one politician in this country has a spine. Thank God for Governor Perry for putting the National Guard on the border!! He has to do what the Feds won't do. Go figure. I guess upholding the country's laws is not of importance any longer to some. Meanwhile, the Pied Piper is off fundraising again, including in my state. Oh, joy, stay off the roads!! ...

In A Mess Because Of Money And RelativesMay 07, 2012
I have a brother who is wealthy and has always been very generous to me. I am in the process of selling my house, and things are taking longer than expected. I am short of money and screwed up my courage to ask my brother for a loan until my house is sold (I have never asked him for anything in my entire life). It was a very difficult thing to do as I was embarrassed that my finances are so tight. He said not to worry about it and that he would write me a check, and then he called back and n ...

Huge Cleaning Mess!Sep 23, 2014
Hi all, I am hoping someone can help me, someone who has experience in this. I have very shiny white tile floors, I guess they're porcelain. I wanted to clean my kitchen grout, so I used a very highly-recommended grout cleaner on the grout, then went over the entire floor with a mild detergent with my wet/dry vac. When it was all dried, I noticed a horrible film, almost like a million little water spots over the entire floor. Some are actually swirls. I troubleshooted this over the ph ...

Plenty Of Blame To Go ALL AROUND For Our Current Mess.Mar 08, 2010
This "blame game" thing is positively juvenile. You can trace our debt problems all the way back to Wilson, people, and maybe even earlier than that. There's only one question in the current political season: Is the current administration making things worse or better? ANSWER: Worse. Much, much worse. So, we have to continue to vote the ba$tards out of office until we hopefully luck on an administration that has some guts. There's no other way out of this mess. Accor ...

Slick Willie Made A Real Mess Of ThingsJul 02, 2016
Bill Clinton has made a mess. It was either out of foolish indifference or plain foolishness, but it has created a terrible moment for his wife and the Democrats, and for President Obama and perceptions of the integrity of his administration. Clinton’s private, unplanned meeting with Attorney General Loretta E. Lynch at the Phoenix airport last week, coming at a time when the Justice Department should be nearing completion of its examination of Hillary Clinton’s use of a private server fo ...
