Why raising taxes in poor economy NEVER good idea

Taxes should NOT be raised on anyone right now... less spending, fewer jobs for the rest of us. However, with all of the outrageous Obama spending, he may end up raising taxes on us ALL, not just the wealthy.... lets wait and see.

That was a very good article - sm

I heard a lady interviewed a few days ago and she said even the people who make a little more money than the rest of us are not spending. People who run businesses, etc, are not spending like they used to because they do not know what the future holds.

Even economists have said ever since the spending frenzy began that that is not how you fix an economy. Common sense tells you that you have to cut the spending, cut taxes so that business can grow, can hire people, etc. And when people have more money in their pockets they will spend more.

That is why we need economists and business men/women working in politics. Politicians do not know how to run an economy. Look at the mess we are in. We need people who know how to run a business, know the simple fact that if you cut taxes and create jobs the economy will rebound. They can't keep spending and printing money. It just is not going to work.

They can keep saying all they want that they are not going to tax people under 250K. We know that's not true. It's just physically impossible because they refuse to stop spending and we are the only ones they have left to tax. The super wealthy surely are not going to pay anymore. Neither are the politicians as we see happening right now.

So true. I think any business feels they need to simply - wait and see if O is going to raise taxes...so

[ In Reply To ..]
just thinking he "might" do it is hurting the economy as well. These businesses need to hear anything to give them reassurance... not raising taxes on them and TELLING them that now would be a huge boost to their being able to relax a bit. Politicians seem to have no clue how to run an economy. It really shows, doesnt it?

Absolutely. We all should sit around holding our breath - waiting for the rich to

come and lift us up out of the gutter, huh? I mean, that is what America is all about, right? All together now, on the count of three:

Oh please, master, throw me a crumb. I promise to be a good little lackey and not complain or make waves while you suck the life out of me and destroy the heart and soul of my country. When you say jump, I will gleefully ask how high. Next time you threaten to bankrupt the economy, I'll go stand over in the corner and cower in the shadows until dawn. I won't mind a bit if you give my rights away to the corporations and mute my democratic voice for all eternity. Just please, master, please, please, please throw me a crumb.

I dont think so. Trickle down doesnt work, remember? In fact, it had a lot to do with how we got here in the first place.

[ In Reply To ..]
finally starting to fight back at the right's constant personal insults. Unfortunately they had to go down to their level of insults and now the right is whining about it. Neither makes any kind of intelligent point when they do this, but the right most definitely started it.

How does it feel for you on the right to be treated the way you treat always treat others who have an opinion different from yours?
It still amazes me - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
That when people start off with "I've watched this board for a long time...." that I think oh here goes, I'm going to see that their side is all innocent and the other side is always starting this or that and we poor little lefts are only trying to defend ourselves.

Hogwash is what I say, because I've been on this board for a couple years now and the plain truth is it's both sides. I could say the same for the right that you say for the left. Just because as a leftist you won't see the fault on your own side doesn't mean that what you said is correct. All you have to do is read the posts (and not skip over all the insults the lefts are flinging at the right).

When you have posts constantly bashing anyone who is a conservative and demonize the republican party it gets very very old. If you want to talk about insults you should read the one where a progressive/liberal told a poster to stick her opinion where the sun doesn't shine and when I read the message she replied to there was no call whatsoever for posting a reply like that. Then the big screaming match this one had at all other posters who did not agree with her. Telling posters to get lost, go find some nasty defensive person you can identify with, etc, etc, etc. None of the posts in that thread ever deserved any of the hate-filled nasties that were spewed at them. She went off like she was let out of the psych ward rambling on and on acting like a child and then has the nerve to say in her post that others don't communicate like an adult??? I'm thinking she should have proofed her post before sending it.

The liberals are not starting to fight back, their fights are starting and instigating. But the simple truth is it's on both sides. The difference I see is that conservatives/independents will admit it's both sides, leftists/progressives/communists will never admit they did anything wrong.

Who started it...let's see:

Whenever your gag reflex kicks in.

He may have reacted more strongly than usual

Read it and weep, Regressives!

And those are just a couple of a leftist insulting a conservative when there was no reason to. There are many others but I'm not going to list them all...just don't have the time, and its a mute point, you probably think it's okay if the left insults the right. The left has been bashing the right now for longer than I can remember, calling them "regressives", "hypocrits", "racists", and a whole slew of other nasties (those are just the lastest new and improved nasties). Then you read the posts they reply to and those posters never deserved any such insults.

To write how does it feel for you on the right to be treated the way we treat others? That's really rich. Leftist will never see the wrong they do. There are some liberals on this board who are fair and decent, but I have never seen one post where they admitted they've been wrong. They insult the conservatives and then sit back and say "I didn't do it, it's all your fault". For the past couple years or so I see it on both sides, and the liberals sure do know how to start some good fights and throw the insults.

The left is not starting to fight back, they've been starting the fights. The conservatives are just tired of the constant insults and cut downs and they started to finally talk back.

No, the right most definitely didn't start it them all. Gonna have to call a Wilson here. That is not gonna fly here because that is just not true. I'd say if you think so you really need to read the board and every single post. I'm sure the older ones are on archive.

If you want to ask how does it feel to be treated the way you treat others who have a different opinion than yours - you need to ask that to the leftists. In fact...looks like you took that line out of one of the posts below. The one telling someone there was no reason for a progressive to tell a poster to stick her opinion where the sun doesn't shine when she said nothing whatsoever deserving of a comment like that.

One of the replies to a poster stated that the poster was lashing out and insulting all the conservative posters all because they have a difference of opinion. There are a couple liberals on this board who are decent and you can have a good conversation with and they stick to the issues, but for the most part, especially over the past few days it's been a constant barage of the left insulting the conservatives without any good cause calling them names. And you think we're supposed to just take it and not respond back??? Tell that to the poster who was told to take her opinion and stick it where the sun doesn't shine when she said nothing to deserve that.

The left is just finally getting a dose of their medicine back. They are getting the same treatment and rudeness and insults they have been flinging at the right for so many years. Don't feel so good does it?
Oh, puleez! I can not begin to count the number - of times I have made a

You have fun tearing each other apart. I want no part of that kind of behavior.

Insulting posters by calling them off-the-deep-end conservatives. Nice...not

And talk about going for the jugular...that's got a liberals name written all over - READ THE POSTS!

Look...I never said a republican doesn't come back with remarks. I said, and I'll repeat again...

BOTH SIDES DO IT.

But you don't see that. It's all, us poor little liberals, we are so innocent from everything and those mean ol people just attack us and go for our jugular for no reason.

You want to talk about hypocrits look no further than your mirror.

If you don't want any kind of that behavior then why did you even reply with the insults.

Really? Did you read her post - and your post even proves that
[ In Reply To ..]
I even read her post again. So maybe I am off on it. Won't be the first time I've mixed up a post.

However, usually conservatives don't say they get their "teeth kicked in by some off-the-deep-end conservatives who is only interested in going for the jugular vein".

And they are talking about conservatives "going for the jugular" and used the following examples:

This blog written is despicable - you wish you had wrote it??? (written by a conservative/independent).

It seems to me all the posts she referenced were from conservatives and since she said gets her teeth kicked in by conservatives I assumed she is not and is claiming that the liberals are the ones being picked on and it's all those conservatives fault.

So...if I "assumed" wrong, guess it's true what they say about assuming, however, it doesn't seem like it to me. And if I am correct about that I'll be bringing out my popcorn too. Will be interested to hear from the poster I replied to what side they were referring to.

One thing I definitely agree with her on is hypocrits are on both sides.

So, I'll just wait to hear.
Actually, I said that it is present on both sides - BUT the really nasty ones

After World War II ended, the debt limit was reduced to $275 billion.
