Just because a reporter reports things that are good, and makes an opinion that it is good, doesn't mean they are "carrying the water" for whatever good that is happening.

Now something bad has happened, and definitely something that touches her and her colleagues personally and uniquely, as it is their profession, so she's reporting the facts, and her opinion just how bad she thinks it is, and it probably really is pretty bad.

Just because it is our opinion that something is bad, but was reported as good, and really probably is good, doesn't translate into bad reporting.

Also, the media hates it when they are compromised in any way, lied to, bugged, shunned, etc. As a group, they have the power to take retribution in a big way. Look what they did to Anthony Weiner. What he did was really in poor taste, not morally ethical, and a little disgusting, but he didn't touch another woman or cheat, but he was hounded and chewed up and spit out by the media... because he lied to the media. Not sure if the outcome would have been any different regarding his career had he told the truth without going through the "my twitter account was hacked" circles, but the media just wouldn't let it go until he was out. And this is the so-called liberal media.

So really, now that Andrea Mitchell reported something the Reps want to hear, they have a new-found respect for her...

Andrea Mitchell DOES do reports and interviews regarding economics, state of the economy, economic policy, etc - and her husband is in part responsible for the mess the US economy is in. That's a direct conflict of interest. It may be she also got her position in journalism due to her relationship with her powerful husband.
