The worse president EVER!!! Sending pink slips

Posted: Jul 11, 2014

http://conservativetribune.com/obama-pink-slip-soldiers/

During a speech Obama delivered at West Point, less than 25% of the cadets rose to their feet when he was introduced to the crowd.

It looks like those cadets, along with every other member of the military has another reason to despise their Commander-in-Chief. Obama sent soldiers serving in Afghanistan their pink slips, saying their “services are no longer needed” by the country.

via Red Flag News:

In a stunning display of callousness, the Defense Department has announced that thousands of soldiers — many serving as commanding officers in Afghanistan — will be notified in the coming weeks that their service to the country is no longer needed.

Last week, more than 1,100 Army captains — the men and women who know best how to fight this enemy because they have experienced multiple deployments — were told they’ll be retired from the Army.

The overall news is not unexpected. The Army has ended its major operations in Iraq and is winding down in Afghanistan. Budget cuts are projected to shrink the Army from its current 520,000 troops to 440,000, the smallest size since before World War II.

What is astonishing is that the Defense Department thought it would be appropriate to notify deployed soldiers — men and women risking their lives daily in combat zones — that they’ll be laid off after their current deployment.

As one Army wife posted on MilitaryFamily.org, “On some level I knew the drawdowns were inevitable, but I guess I never expected to be simultaneously worried about a deployment to Afghanistan and a pink slip because my husband’s service is no longer needed.”

Disgraceful. There are about a million other things that the federal government could cut to make room in the budget, including the salaries of current members of Congress.

No soldier or his family should ever need to be concerned about their bills or their spouse losing their job, especially when there are plenty of useless jobs that should be cut first. If the government is looking for suggestions, a good place to start is with every employee of the IRS.

The soldiers who sacrifice their time, health, and sometimes their lives, deserve far better. Our country will always be in need of their service. The same cannot be said of the politicians in charge of running the country, whom, after a stunt like this, need to be handed pink slips of their own.

Obama to Defense Contractors, - (this is similar to above)

[ In Reply To ..]
Corruption: Our lawless president tells defense contractors they can break the law requiring politically inconvenient layoff notices caused by sequestration defense cuts, and the taxpayers will pay their legal bills.

When President Obama took the oath of office, he swore to uphold the Constitution and see that the laws of the United States were faithfully executed. He lied, and that lie was exposed in the administration's weekly document dump last Friday.

It included a memo from the Department of Labor telling defense contractors not to obey the law and that, if they don't, U.S. taxpayers will foot their legal bills when fired employees sue them for breaking the law.

That law is the WARN (Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notice) Act, which requires employers to give workers a minimum of 60 days notice before potential mass layoffs. These layoffs are likely due to automatic cuts slashing defense that will occur on Jan. 2 under the sequestration provisions of the Budget Control Act.

The law requires $1.2 trillion in spending cuts, half coming from defense on top of a half-trillion in cuts already made by the Obama administration. That means layoff warning notices will be required by law to go out to hundreds of thousands of workers employed by defense contractors on Friday, Nov. 2, just days before the presidential election, a prospect President Obama and his campaign staff do not relish.

Robert Stevens, chairman and CEO of Lockheed Martin, one of the largest defense contractors in the key battleground state of Virginia, recently testified in Congress that his company was looking at laying off roughly 10,000 employees from its workforce of 120,000.

We better go with drinking to "Hillary" and hope to last about 15 minutes! LOL.

Many of the people who joined the services wanted to finish. Giving pink slips is one thing, but to give pink slips during the time they are fighting?

You know the enemy is coming or you are getting close. You walk closer to the enemy. You hind behind a bush and then..... hey, here is your pink slip. You done with your services.

It doesn't work that way.

Quote: "You know the enemy is coming or you are getting close. You walk closer to the enemy. You hind behind a bush and then..... hey, here is your pink slip. You done with your services."

LOL. Quite a dramatic flair but utterly ridiculous. There is not the hate for Obama in the military that you were hoping for. Sure, there's always the crazy minority, but that's anywhere you go. They have a tendency to lose focus off what's best for the unit and focus on what's best for themselves personally. The military doesn't work that way.

Don't believe everything you read, especially something as crazy as that.

Then why did he join? It is not like he was - drafted or something. NM

I'll not be explaining the grievances of a soldier here, but let's just say that what you think you know about war and what you're told on enlistment about tours of duty don't always mesh up with reality. Google "extended tours of duty in Iraq."

Realize that you know very little about what is going on halfway across the world and in defense meetings in Washington, DC, and that it's all too easy to sit on a moral high horse in judgment of everything and everybody ad nauseum as if you do know.... when you couldn't possibly actually know.
That's not for YOU to judge. - nm

WHY JOIN? - lots of reasons that aren't as patriotic as y
[ In Reply To ..]
There are a lot of reasons people join the military that are not pure patriotism.
1. Naive 18 year old kids, buying into the romanticism of "serve and protect" and it is a lot easier than becoming a cop, and by most people's experience, less dangerous----unless they come up with a war to send you to. I remember in the early 1990s when all the National Guard people got a wake up from easy paycheck to having to go to war zone. Changed peoples' thoughts on joining up so easily. I knew a number of people that considered National Guard a second job, easy paycheck and a worthwhile pursuit to be a back-up emergency service for their state. They enjoyed the once a month service and the week in the summer. Now, I don't think they are so eager.
2. Economy. Particularly the end of the Bush years. Jobs were hard to come by for the people who are the obvious "bread and butter" foot soldiers for the military. This is a guaranteed paycheck with some decent benefits. These people probably mixed in a bit of patriotism to swallow this choice.
3. Some just like the idea of "playing war." They groove on the weapons and the history of the military. I think they are sadly disappointed when they find out what today's military objectives are. I actually had a brother-in-law, who became an ex-BIL, that went a little crazy when the war ended and his tour in Vietnam was cancelled.
4. For some it is a family tradition. Have you ever had a family tradition that you have tried to keep repeating that just doesn't seem as neat anymore...I think this could be one of those, for some anyway.

For lots, it is just a JOB, and it can seriously mess with an 18-24 year-old person's head even if they aren't physically injured. This is not your grandfather's military!

pink slips - This reminds me

[ In Reply To ..]
of the situation many employers are in with making cutbacks. When do you tell an employee...at the very first you know, so that they can make plans...or do you hold onto the information so they can perform well for you and you, as the employer, can be exceedingly ready to absorb their position.

Anyone in the military should know that cutbacks were coming...and the U.S. doesn't need that many at the top---the high salaries. This has been happening everywhere in corporate America, why not here?

And, I'm with the one that said "I'd be happy to get a pink slip in Afghanistan" and be allowed to come home.

If you want to get rid of politicians and the IRS workers - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
Then you'd better get busy amending the Constitution that sets forth in detail the mechanism whereby the people will elect representatives to speak on their behalf and whereby the government may collect taxes to pay for stuff (you know, stuff like the military for the common defense and all that constitutional wording).

Don't be too surprised if you hear objections to taxation without representation and things of that nature, and do realize that with no IRS employees around to collect the taxes that actually pay the soldiers, this plan in effect still leads to the soldiers not getting paid. So there's that little kink to work out. LOL.

Now when this "get rid of every employee of the IRS and all the politicians too" plan still leads to the soldiers not getting paid because there is no one there to collect their salary and leads also to them not being able to get help from their congressperson because they no longer exist, which then leads to the same thing you're whining about here, then what will you do?

Oh, right! Blame Obama! LOL.

WORST PRESIDENT EVER - CAM

[ In Reply To ..]
I know he is the worst president ever. I cant hardly stand to see his face on the TV screen. I cant believe how the American people were so duped into electing him (not that I voted for him). He acts like he can make the rules all by himself. What I see in this CHANGE he promised is a worse off America with a president and first lady that HATES America. IT is so mind blowing that we have this thing in office. I cant wait until 2016. I hope no other terrorist attacks our country because this thing of a president is making sure we cannot do a thing about it.

I try not to psychoanalyze people I don't know, - sm

[ In Reply To ..]

But I'm guessing generally that a lot of people that think that President Obama "HATES America" are projecting their hate for this president.  Saying things like "I can't hardly stand to see his face on the TV screen" is a fairly self-explanatory statement that pretty much speaks for itself.  "Worse off America" is just silly, in my opinion; a person would have to have a really short memory to conclude that things are now worse off than when Obama took over the train wreck that this country was when he was elected.

Nobody was "duped" into electing him....  twice.  They just basically looked at what the GOP had to offer with McCain and Palin, had a good laugh, and then 66 million voted for Obama in 2008 and 65 million in 2012 against Romney/Ryan.  Conservatives have this tendency to dismiss those who disagree with them, label them with words like "duped," "sheeple," "takers," etc., and then dismiss them and their concerns.  It seems to be a GOP trait, and Romney exuded it like bad cologne.  I hope they just keep dismissing 65+ million people and their concerns in 2016 because I'm loving the outcome they're getting.

The status quo is not going to work here anymore, and the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and over and somehow expecting a different outcome.

Bobby Jindal said they had to quit being the "stupid party." I was afraid the Republicans were getting a clue as to how to appeal to a broader base (the reason I was afraid is I thought they were lying just to get votes, but I would have been pleasantly surprised if they could have found some moderation!), but in the past 2 years since his statement I can see that they continued down the nut-case path...they have no interest in appealing to the general populace, they are becoming more divisive, reactionary and fear-mongering to gain support. I agree 2016 is looking easier and easier.
