During a speech Obama delivered at West Point, less than 25% of the cadets rose to their feet when he was introduced to the crowd.
It looks like those cadets, along with every other member of the military has another reason to despise their Commander-in-Chief. Obama sent soldiers serving in Afghanistan their pink slips, saying their “services are no longer needed” by the country.
via Red Flag News:
In a stunning display of callousness, the Defense Department has announced that thousands of soldiers — many serving as commanding officers in Afghanistan — will be notified in the coming weeks that their service to the country is no longer needed.
Last week, more than 1,100 Army captains — the men and women who know best how to fight this enemy because they have experienced multiple deployments — were told they’ll be retired from the Army.
The overall news is not unexpected. The Army has ended its major operations in Iraq and is winding down in Afghanistan. Budget cuts are projected to shrink the Army from its current 520,000 troops to 440,000, the smallest size since before World War II.
What is astonishing is that the Defense Department thought it would be appropriate to notify deployed soldiers — men and women risking their lives daily in combat zones — that they’ll be laid off after their current deployment.
As one Army wife posted on MilitaryFamily.org, “On some level I knew the drawdowns were inevitable, but I guess I never expected to be simultaneously worried about a deployment to Afghanistan and a pink slip because my husband’s service is no longer needed.”
Disgraceful. There are about a million other things that the federal government could cut to make room in the budget, including the salaries of current members of Congress.
No soldier or his family should ever need to be concerned about their bills or their spouse losing their job, especially when there are plenty of useless jobs that should be cut first. If the government is looking for suggestions, a good place to start is with every employee of the IRS.
The soldiers who sacrifice their time, health, and sometimes their lives, deserve far better. Our country will always be in need of their service. The same cannot be said of the politicians in charge of running the country, whom, after a stunt like this, need to be handed pink slips of their own.
;But I'm guessing generally that a lot of people that think that President Obama "HATES America" are projecting their hate for this president. Saying things like "I can't hardly stand to see his face on the TV screen" is a fairly self-explanatory statement that pretty much speaks for itself. "Worse off America" is just silly, in my opinion; a person would have to have a really short memory to conclude that things are now worse off than when Obama took over the train wreck that this country was when he was elected.
Nobody was "duped" into electing him.... twice. They just basically looked at what the GOP had to offer with McCain and Palin, had a good laugh, and then 66 million voted for Obama in 2008 and 65 million in 2012 against Romney/Ryan. Conservatives have this tendency to dismiss those who disagree with them, label them with words like "duped," "sheeple," "takers," etc., and then dismiss them and their concerns. It seems to be a GOP trait, and Romney exuded it like bad cologne. I hope they just keep dismissing 65+ million people and their concerns in 2016 because I'm loving the outcome they're getting.
The status quo is not going to work here anymore, and the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and over and somehow expecting a different outcome.
