I am intrigued by the comment in the beginning by Alan Williams of democrats, that "...we are the party that represents America."

I think it's a shame that more American history (real history, not the garbage in textbooks) isn't taught in schools these days - a lot of people would see how wrong that statement is. I realize, though, that neither party is the same as it was even 50 years ago - maybe both are due for a facelift.

is that the demographics of the Democratic party is more in line with the demographics of the country as a whole, representing proportionately more minorities than the Republicans. Did you get another meaning?

when it comes to Republicans and minority groups, painting Republicans in a harsher light than the reality is. Once the Civil Rights Act was passed by a Democrat president (passed by a Republican congress), the Democrats saw that this would be a huge voting block for them. I'm not sure that the Democratic party of today is more in line with the country as a whole - which is why I say both parties may be in need of a facelift.

actually resent your restyling of history to deny this noble sacrifice, and statements here are rarely more than just irritating.

I was old enough to understand what was happening, though not yet old enough to vote. The Democratic Party saw perfectly well what it would cost us and paid the price proudly. We, and the entire nation, have been struggling with the results ever since: Not just the South strongly in the GOP bag, BUT the entire nation's passionate hatemongers and far-right conservatives (almost synonymous with authoritarian followers) all united on one side-the GOP side.

I've seen plenty of hate coming from that party. Look at some posters here. Look at Pelosi and Reid. Look at Schumer. Look at Steny Hoyer and best examples are Obama and Biden, especially Biden. Obama is at least a wee bit outspoken, but Biden takes the trophy for hate mongering.

Don't forget Obama stating "The election is over...I won" speaking to John McCain at the healthcare conference. Right then and there was the start of partisanship between the two parties.

I knew it would distress a certain type, but it's a matter of overwhelming numbers and interests and is the simple truth. Times change.

If the GOP wins this election, it will be the last big general win white supremacists will be able to claim they won by voting Republican. They'll never change, of course, except through grave attrition, but the GOP will no longer be their weapon to use against fellow Americans.

One side of face, around eye and mouth. I started having these and they are so aggravating and cause me much angst. I had Botox for them but that did not alleviate and cause side of my mouth to droop. Have tried Tegretol, no good and another benzodiazepines without any help. Anyone out there with them also? I have these spasms going on. First had botox injections which gave the impression of perhaps having had stroke on one side of my face. Those really lasted about 1 day as far as taking away the spasms, the lack of facial expression went on for about 4 months. Other day went to another neurologist and prescribed benzodiazepines, taken those for 2 days now and see absolutely no improvement. Has anyone else had these and if so, what worked for you? ...

I have been to physicians, neurologists, and the like for the twitches in my face. They have been on 1 side and the other. Had botox 1 time, the only thing that did was to cause 1 side of my face to droop, not a good thing. Hubby is telling me that calcium and magnesium would be a good thing.
