More dishonesty from the IRS. While they slam the honest taxpayer, 2800 employees didn't pay their own taxes?
Nearly $3 million in bonuses were given to more than 2,800 IRS employees who had been disciplined for misconduct, including $1 million to 1,100 workers who apparently did not pay all of their taxes, according to reports.
The Wall Street Journal reports an audit revealed the bonuses were awarded between October 2010 and December 2012. More from the Journal:
The misconduct ranged from failure to pay taxes to misuse of government travel cards, violation of official-conduct standards and fraud, according to the report by the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration. The discipline included written reprimands, suspensions and even removal. The oversight agency said some of the conduct issues might have occurred after an employee earned a bonus.
About two-thirds of the IRS' 98,000 employees received bonuses in fiscal year 2012, the Journal reports:
The report identified nearly 1,200 employees with tax issues or official-conduct violations during the period who received a total of $1.1 million in monetary bonuses, and about 11,000 hours of time off. One employee who was suspended for 10 days in September 2011 received a $1,300 performance award in August 2012, the report said. The IRS generally doesn't consider conduct issues when administering bonuses, officials told the watchdog office.

Article I, Section 8 of the Constitution declares: "The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;" "To declare War, grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal, and make Rules concerning Captures on Land and Water;"
On Sept. 14, 2001, the U.S. Congress in effect declared war when it passed the Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF) as a joint resolution (remember that vote?). In the House, the vote was 420 Ayes, 1 Nay, and 10 Not Voting. In the Senate, the vote was 98 Ayes, 0 Nays, and 2 Present/Not Voting. Rep. Barbara Lee was the nay vote in the House.
That Authorization states: "That the President is authorized to use all necessary and appropriate force against those nations, organizations, or persons he determines planned, authorized, committed, or aided the terrorist attacks that occurred on September 11, 2001, or harbored such organizations or persons, in order to prevent any future acts of international terrorism against the United States by such nations, organizations or persons."
The Constitution also defines another rule, and one that Ron Paul tried to pass as H.R. 3076: The Marque and Reprisal Act of 2001 is: “Authorizes and requests the President to issue letters of marque and reprisal to commission privately armed and equipped persons and entities to seize outside of the United States the person and property of Osama bin Laden, of any al Qaeda co-conspirator, and any conspirator with Osama bin Laden and al Qaeda who are responsible for the terrorist attacks against the United States on September 11, 2001, including any similar planned acts against the United States in the future. Authorizes the President to place a bounty, from amounts appropriated on September 14, 2001, in the Emergency Supplemental Appropriations Act for Recovery from and Response to Terrorists Attacks on the United States or from private sources, for the capture, dead or alive, of Osama bin Laden or any other al Qaeda conspirator responsible for the act of air piracy upon the United States on September 11, 2001.” He introduced a bill in 2011 and again in 2007 but they died in committee.
Knowing how OBL was killed, if the Ron Paul bill’s were passed, the use of letters of marque and reprisal could have been carried out under similar circumstances, only instead of sending SEAL Team Six, the president, under authority from Congress, could have empowered a private army to do the job.
Your post states that GWB’s war was illegal. Therefore, what this President is doing would also be considered ILLEGAL, and if it was, the capture and/or death of Osama bin Laden or other al Qaeda conspirators and using drones would also be ILLEGAL and constitute war crimes under Obama’s watch but according to the AUMF, neither Bush nor Obama were/are doing anything illegal.
So lets ignore uninformed and incorrect information for what Bush did since he is no longer President and since Obama has EXPANDED more of the same by using drones. Can’t give a pass to one President after expanding what a past President did. Your post is trying to divert from the original.
