Spasms in my face, anyone else have these

One side of face, around eye and mouth. I started having these and they are so aggravating and cause me much angst. I had Botox for them but that did not alleviate and cause side of my mouth to droop. Have tried Tegretol, no good and another benzodiazepines without any help. Anyone out there with them also? What have you tried?

[ In Reply To ..]I know some would love to tie this up with the flu shot, nope have not had this year, no shots in fact, not Bell's, history of shingles probably 2 years ago, nothing recent. Have had Botox (might have mentioned before), benzodiazepines and then Tegretol. I had a day yesterday of none hardly at all but did call a neurosurgeon's office this past week inquiring if they do the surgery for this. As far as telling you what causes them, neurologists do not have that answer. I would hate to live the rest of my life with these and I read they only get worse. Had MRI scan before, no issues there. Probably compression of the 7th cranial nerve and that can be treated with putting Teflon under that nerve. I would hate to do but hate even more having them.

[ In Reply To ..]Just wondered; I had shingles once about 15 or 20 years ago that started in my rt eyebrow, then moved to upper eyelid, scared me! Notice when under stress I now get "tracers" across the right cheek, just a slight feeling, not quite electrical, no pain or swelling, just shooting sensations. good luck.

[ In Reply To ..]I have hemifacial spasm. The neuro said it was from low serotonin level. Not sure I believe that but they are very annoying. I get mine if I press on the right side of my neck. The neuro says this is the brain stem. Thought I had MS but negative MRI. An MRI of your brain would show if your facial nerve is pressing on your brain. Good luck.
