Romney/Palin

Posted: Mar 3, 2014

I wonder when Obama and the left will apologize to Romney and/or Palin for treating them like idiots when they acurately forecasted exactly what is happening in Ukraine and Putin.;

What did they say? I don't remember them - talking about it.

Well, here is what Romney said, and if you (sm) - Abby

cold war - urg

The Cold War is over. This is a provincial leader trying to take over another province. Putin is trying to collect up support. This is certainly not the "Russia" of before, as in the Soviet Union, which has been in decline for quite a while. This is not the Cold War continuing.

Ummm...that is ridiculous. It's funny..no matter how clear the truth is, Libs just cannot admit that they made a HUGE mistake with Obama - in every single aspect of his presidency...from economics to foreign policy to health care and everywhere in between. Sometimes you have to admit you were wrong.

There really is nothing left for the left to defend this man, is there. - wow

Romney described Russia as a geopolitical threat - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
Which couldn't be farther from the truth. Putin invading neighboring countries is not what Romney was speaking of. It would be folly for Russia to threaten the U.S. in any way.

As for Palin, I'll have to research that further. I don't know what she was talking about.

Sarah Palin/Charles Gibson on 20/20, 2008 - Research Further

[ In Reply To ..]
I am providing this video because what Sarah actually said on the subject of Russia/Ukraine hasn't yet been presented in a full context.

This video is probably one of many on the subject, but I chose it because she is clear, as well as it contains the much-debated "see Russia" comment that was mentioned to me in a comment below.

http://youtu.be/3ALsjhDDdaA

Transcript of the "see Russia" comment at time stamp 5:10:

Charlie Gibson: "What insight into Russian actions, particularly in the last couple of weeks, does the proximity of the state give you?"

Sarah Palin: "They're our next door neighbors, and you can actually see Russia, from land, here in Alaska".

To be fair, it does appear she may have meant to continue on to her point, but was interrupted/clipped - up to you to decide.

I'm providing this information with no personal opinion whatsoever for you to decide for yourselves, except this: Right or wrong, a public "I told you so/I was right" dance would be a wildly inappropriate, immature and undignified mistake for Sarah or anyone to make, over such a serious situation.

thanks, RF - sm

I appreciate the post. It's actually her prediction about Russia invading Ukraine that I can't really nail down.
You're Welcome :) - Research Further
[ In Reply To ..]
That was the best I could find quickly that covered both points ;)

I guess I interpreted her "yes" response to Charles asking her directly if she wanted the Ukraine to join NATO (following up with an "in case Russia invaded?" question) to mean she considered that a strong possibility - did you see/interpret that differently?

I also think she was cut off in that segment, either he interrupted her mid-sentence or it was clipped, but every video I found of that 20/20 segment has that odd, abrupt cut-in to his next question, so it must be that the actual broadcast is like that.

To be honest, I'm not a Sarah fan at all - but I also really do try to be fair (which extremists don't like, they want me to pick a side every time). When I do pick a side on a particular issue, I'm pretty good about saying so;)

However, I think she's been vilified by the press more than she should've been, often by women. And I think it's less about her intelligence, during an interview, and more about letting her nerves derail her - I don't think she gives a great interview with the liberal press. She's visibly nervous and guarded, probably because she knows they will vilify her later.

In fact, so nervous during press interviews, I almost feel sorry for her - but then I remember she chose this game and that's part of the game she chose to play.

Regardless, who predicted what doesn't matter to me anymore; in fact, I think it's kind of a distraction tactic by the right wing off the actual issue.

Politicians overly focusing on it only prove once again, they're more interested in being right, than in what to do about it (because psst, they have no clue either ;)

However, that video is enough for me, at least, to substantiate Sarah may actually have "insight" into her "neighbor's" routine and perhaps her perspective should at least now be considered more than previously.

Now where I don't agree with her, in the video, is that we necessarily needed to DO anything at all about the Ukraine OR Russia, either back then OR now - we're not the world police.

Also, we signed an agreement (Budapest Memorandum) that we would respect the independent integrity of their country and we need to keep OUR integrity by keeping our word, unless they directly ask for our help, and even then, there are things to consider.

My opinion is it's observation time, we need to look before we leap, lots of things to consider before we "do" anything at all

Romney was right, you not so much - How do you know what he was referring to

[ In Reply To ..]
It was a discussion of Russia as whole, their objectives, and what they would do to achieve their goals. If you had any history background, you would understand Hitler pulled the same crap with European countries as Russia is pulling now, and got away with it because people thought it would be "folly" for Hitler to do what he did, and looked the other way. About a year later, you had WWII. You do know that US was involved in that war with heavy loss of life don't you? Those of us aware of history, know how easily some history can repeat itself because people refuse to take off their blinders.

Now bring out the Godwin law board police.

I know what he was referring to because he said - what he was referring to

[ In Reply To ..]
Since the end of WW2, NATO and the United Nations have been established. There exists today a much more unified response. Not to mention that Europe is not too happy with Putin right now.

Because Obama and left are not mature enough - to admit they were wrong

I not a Palin supporter policy-wise, (she's too polarizing for my taste), so I really don't want to watch it.  I do, however, admire her courage.  Besides, I don't have HBO - LOL.
