a commercial?? - cj

It's a commercial for pete's sake, so really means nothing at all. Did you listen to Pelosi yesterday and the commentary that went with it? (Did you know in California - her own state - many refer to her as Nasty Pelosi?) Right now they do not have the votes to pass it with the public option. This commercial sites 70% wanting a public option while the next thing I read said only 42% favor public option and 49% favor what we currently have to any reform at all (personally I find that one hard to believe, too!). From reading your posts I know you are smart enough to know the polls are skewed to reflect whatever the organization conducting them wants them to "reveal" so the debate rages on!

Nasty Pelosi....hmmmm.... - Just the big bad

Here are the results of the 2008 election.

Nancy Pelosi Democrat 148,301 72%
Dana Walsh Republican 19,438 9%
Cindy Sheehan Independent 34,135 17%
Philip Berg Libertarian 4,661 2%

The Republicans couldn't even muster up 10% of the vote. They will never be able to vote her out!
That means nothing. The woman has about a 20pct - approval rating now that they know her.nm

Do you even live in California? I am guessing the answer is no. Do you have reputable statistics to back up your claim? By the way, Pelosi's approval rating anywhere other than her district in California is meaningless.

Do you live in her district? I have family and friends living there. They are ready to boot her butt out and can't do it fast enough. Her mouth has gotten her in some hot water in her district. And you do realize the economic situation in California, don't you? In general, Californians are very liberal, but they are faving some very tough economic reality and are fed up with the free-for-all spending machine.

The job performance of Pelosi, serving her 11th term representing the 8th Congressional District in San Francisco, is slightly higher - with 34 percent of voters approving of her work and 44 percent disapproving.

Found this on a SFGate website. This is her distrist so 20% was too low but still not so good, hey?

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi's home district includes San Francisco. StarKist Tuna's headquarters are in San Francisco , Pelosi's home district. StarKist is owned by Del Monte Foods and is a major contributor to Pelosi. StarKist is the major employer in American Samoa employing 75% of the Samoan work force. Paul Pelosi, Nancy 's husband, owns $17 million dollars of StarKist stock. In January, 2007 when the minimum wage was increased from $5.15 to $7.25, Pelosi had American Samoa exempted from the increase so Del Monte would not have to pay the higher wage. This would make Del Monte products less expensive than that of its competitors. When the huge bailout bill was passed, Pelosi added an earmark to the final bill adding $33 million dollars for an "economic development credit in American Samoa ". Pelosi called the Bush administration "CORRUPT" and many other things !!! How do you spell "HYPOCRISY" ? SHE'S SHAMELESS. Obama just spent a night ($44k per couple) in SF praising what a great person Nancy is. What a joke. You think the other networks would report this?

Nasty untrue rumors. Where'd ya get your info? It's pretty much a copy 'n paste but you need to check your sources. See snopes for the debunk and if you don't like that, at least point to some credible sources for your info.

I live here, my cousins live here, I work here. All my family, friends, and coworkers cannot stand her. My family's work places feel the same way. We are disgusted with her incompetency and the sooner she is out the better for the country and the state. People are not fed up with Arnold, they are fed up with the democrats incompetency to work things out.

This may be a liberal city, but a lot more people are starting to show their conservative side. They tell me they will never ever admit they are conservative, but the current politicians have disgraced the democratic party and they are voting them all out.
ditto! I have friends there who are sick to death of - Pelosi... she does need the boot.nm

Public Option Hot Again?Oct 12, 2009
The group, America's Health Insurance Plans, released a report claiming that the new health care reform bill will drive up insurance premiums because not everyone will be forced into the system. Without a very large pool that includes healthy people, the insurance companies insist, they will have to pay out too much. (I'm crying crocodile tears here.) This might bring the public option back strongly if the dems finally say, "Enough of this crap!" We can only hope. NJ ...

Why Illinois Is In Trouble, 63,000 Public Employees WithJul 26, 2017
Illinois is broke and continues to flirt with junk bond status. But the state’s financial woes aren’t stopping 63,000 government employees from bringing home six-figure salaries and higher. Whenever we open the books, Illinois is consistently one of the worst offenders. Recently, we found auto pound supervisors in Chicago making $144,453; nurses at state corrections earning up to $254,781; junior college presidents making $465,420; university doctors earning $1.6 million; and 84 small-to ...

Eight False Things The Public Knows Prior To Election Day:Oct 26, 2010
Dave Johnson has written a very handy piece called: Eight False Things The Public “Knows” Prior To Election Day: 1) President Obama tripled the deficit. Reality: Bush's last budget had a $1.416 trillion deficit. Obama's first reduced that to $1.29 trillion. 2) President Obama raised taxes, which hurt the economy. Reality: Obama cut taxes. 40% of the "stimulus" was wasted on tax cuts which only create debt, which is why it was so much less effective than it could have be ...
