Poll: Americans say we'd be better off if Mitt Romney won in 2012

Posted: Jul 3, 2014

While Obama beat Romney by 4 percentage points, voters say a do-over in the 2012 election wouldn't be a bad thing.

"Would Mitt (Romney) have been a better fit? More voters in hindsight say yes," Malloy said.

Overall, 45 percent of voters say America would be better off if the White House went to the Republicans in 2012, compared to 38 percent who said we'd be worse off.

And because it's World UFO Day, a 2012 survey indicated 65 percent of Americans think Barack Obama would be better suited than Mitt Romney to handle an alien invasion.

Also, more than half of Americans (54 percent) say the Obama Administration isn't competent when it comes to running the government, while less than half (47 percent) say Obama pays enough attention to his own administration.

Do you REALLY think polls are legit? - Seriously WHO CARES.

[ In Reply To ..]
I really think polls can be manipulated and it such a waste of time to post. Do you really care or is this just another way for you to bash Obama.

As part of the poll I would say Mitt Romney would have the same mess as Obama inherited from Bush and the results under Romney would be the same.

WE CARE. If you don't care then why comment - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
Can polls be manipulated. Of course they can. Look at the one that said Obama was ahead.

I read the article myself before I saw it here. In case you didn't know this, this is a board for everyone. We are free to post whatever political article, poll, opinion or whatever we want to. You don't like it don't read it.

Mitt Romney would have taken responsibility if he had made the same mistakes Obama is doing and he wouldn't blame Bush for every thing that is going to happen in the future that Bush has no control over. Immigration issue is not Bush's fault. Sending troops to war is not Bush's fault. The sinking economy is not Bush's fault.

GET IT?

Again, if you don't like the posts here then why bother even coming. As long as there is a story in the news WE WILL POST! If anyone has a problem with that I suggest they take it up with the moderator or ask for their own board cos they don't want to hear anything bad about Obama or democrats.

Are you moderating who can respond to posts - because response is unfavorable?

[ In Reply To ..]
Sorry but I responded to the stupidity of polls, in particular this one which asks a limited number of Americans to go back to the past and then predict an imaginary scenario if Mitt Romney was president would things be different/better.

GET IT?
I asked why. I said nothing about whether you can or can't - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
Sick of hearing about people playing the poor "your bashing Obama" posts (oh boo hoo hoo).

You posted "WHO CARES". I posted "WE CARE" followed by a question, not a statement.

You think the poll was stupid, fine we get it. Anything that tells the truth about what is going on and what people are now starting to see going on in this administration and how they feel about who is in their unless it favors in the positive will perceived as "stupid" to the lovers.

Again I will state. This is a political board and we are free to post whatever we want regarding politics. If you don't like it don't even know why you come here. That's not telling you you can't that's asking why would you even bother since it's so distressing to read what is going on in politics and the opinions of people who are waking up.

Again, we can post anything we want regarding politics. If you don't like it, then ask the moderator to censor all conservatives posts and take everyone of them down so that all you have to read is the lovey posts of the O

GET IT? Somehow I don't think so.
Polls "tell the truth" - you actually believe that?
[ In Reply To ..]
You said: "Anything that tells the truth about what is going on and what people are now starting to see going on in this administration and how they feel about who is in their unless it favors in the positive will perceived as "stupid" to the lovers."

I do not love Obama. I think as long as the economy grows, there are no terrorist attacks and he does not invade another country we are ahead of the game.

Polls come and go and change. They are stupid. Certain people who want a certain outcome sponsor polls. The questions can be biased. The outcome can be manipulated. Yet you think polls "tell the truth". That is simply ridiculous.
Polls are twisted to show whatever the pollster - wants to show. Just like the bible. nm

Can we please leave religion out of this - Had enough of it yesterday

There is a faith website in case you want to start talking about the Bible.
You misunderstood. I'm sick of religion, too. - Mainly because its twisted & skewed to -

somehow have some relevance to politics, corporations, and private individuals.
Exactly. Someone commissions and pays for polls - They are not going against the person paying
[ In Reply To ..]
By hook or crook the poll will come out in favor of the payer for the survey.
As a general rule, anytime democrats accuse you - of doing something, it is
[ In Reply To ..]
because they are already doing it themselves.
What does that have to with polls being paid - for and results will favor the payer?
[ In Reply To ..]
I mean this is just the way business is done. Someone commissions a poll, Democrat or Republican, they want results skewed to their benefit and pollsters know how to create questions and skew the poll to get the results the payer wants.
"Anything" - Let me define for you
[ In Reply To ..]
Anything is more than just one thing. Anything can be a news article, a blog, a picture, a magazine article. Anything can be an article from MSNBC or Fox, and yes a poll can be in the list of anything.

Yes I said "Anything that tells the truth...". I didn't specifically mention this or any other poll or any specific article or anything. To clarify, what I meant is that no matter what it is we post if it reflect unfavorable against the fave it will be called "stupid".

Articles of MSNBC, Huff, Jon Stewart or other liberal sites, were posted here when they gush-n-drool over the O, but the minute they said something against the fave then the liberals came out and called those same sites stupid and tried to tear them down. Then when they had a positive article they posted again. The sites according to liberals are credible when it favors The One, but not credible if it doesn't.

Polls that favored The One were posted here and were not called "Stupid". In fact we were all told how credible they were and how they reflected how the whole country feels. Now the tune has changed. Now that's what I call ridiculous.
I remember when Hillary told us it was patriotic - to disagree with the president.
[ In Reply To ..]
What happened?
What she meant was - sm
[ In Reply To ..]

It's only patriotic if you disagree with a republican president.

“I'm sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and disagree with this administration, somehow you're not patriotic. We need to stand up and say we're Americans, and we have the right to debate and disagree with ANY administration.” - Hillary Clinton

It would do posters well to remember this.

I was listening to a montage of Wolf Blitzer over and - over when Bush had low polls. It was

Valerie Jerrett, he must feel Congress is unnecessary. He apparent engaged in marathon TV sessions and doesn’t even form liaisons within his own party, much less with any republicans.

I wonder... - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
...why would Obama be preferred for an alien invasion? What's up with that? My mind can certainly wander, but not that far. Anyone?

Same poll that was posted yesterday. - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
I find it particularly heartwarming that this poll confirms that conservatives have spent so much time pining for a do-over of an election they lost. If only the polls had actually been skewed. I'm guessing if Romney were president we'd now be at war with Russia over Crimea, and Romney's favorability rating would be around 22%. Ah, "the road not taken" by Robert Frost.

There are no do-overs. Start worrying about 2016 and whether or not Hillary will run. Oh, wait!

Ridiculous - Nobody knows what

[ In Reply To ..]
Romney would have done. We might be in far worse shape. He might have declared polygamy as the national religion and all women to be sister wives with no birth control.

That is what is so stupid about posting poll results - they give stupid answers to stupid questions

[ In Reply To ..]
I wonder who sponsors these polls, why and who conducts these?

And yet some conservatives dwell on the polls and are pleased as punch to post the results if they are not favorable to Obama. I guess that is the way they amuse themselves on a nice summer day. I picture them going gleefully to Google for an Obama smack-down, barely able to contain themselves long enough to post on MTStars.

Did the responders to the poll have crystal balls - or wear wizard hats?

[ In Reply To ..]
What a bunch of really dumb questions.

Definition for libs... - Get it?

[ In Reply To ..]
Definition of Poll:

A sampling or collection of opinions on a subject, taken from either a selected or a random group of persons, as for the purpose of analysis.

Nobody is saying it's gospel. It's a sampling and it's not in your guy's favor. Get it?

Poster knows exactly what you mean but doesn't keep up on the news and wants you to do all the work, then attack you for telling the truth.

I have seen this before on the other boards I visit but I thought I'd try this one for a change. I won't be staying because I've never seen such a bunch of childish posts like the 'poles' comments. There is NO sensible discussion here so good luck to those trying to have one. It will never happen as long as the posters find no fault with this administration's "leader" and insist on attacking the other side. Bye.
Thank you, I totally agree. - Happy Independence Day! nm

You made a general statement that the media is turning against Obama. I am asking you specifically where you got the information. You have dodged the question multiple times so I can only conclude you are blowing smoke and cannot give a SPECIFIC answer to a SPECIFIC question on where your information is coming from.

About half of Americans believe that the CIA was justified in its harsh interrogation methods of "war on terror" detainees, a poll found Monday, days after a damning US report revealed harrowing details of torture. The US Senate report released last week said the Central Intelligence Agency's interrogation of Al-Qaeda suspects, including beatings, rectal rehydration and sleep deprivation, was far more brutal than acknowledged and did not produce useful intelligence.
