Top 10 Reasons to Dislike Mitt Romney

Posted: Sep 22, 2012

Top Ten Reasons To Dislike Mitt Romney:

1. Drop-dead, collar-ad handsome with gracious, statesmanlike aura. Looks like every central casting’s #1 choice for Commander-in-Chief.

2. Been married to ONE woman his entire life, and has been faithful to her, including through her bouts with breast cancer and MS.

3. No scandals or skeletons in his closet. (How boring is that?)

4. Can’t speak in a fake, southern, “black preacher voice” when necessary.

5. Highly intelligent. Graduated cum laude from both Harvard Law School and Harvard Business School…and by the way, his academic records are NOT sealed.

6. Doesn’t smoke or drink alcohol, and has never done drugs, not even in the counter-culture age when he went to college. Too square for today’s America?

7. Represents an America of “yesterday”, where people believed in God, went to Church, didn’t screw around, worked hard, and became a SUCCESS!

8. Has a family of five great sons….and none of them have police records or are in drug rehab.  But of course, they were raised by a stay-at-home mom, and that “choice” deserves America’s scorn.

9. Oh yes…..he’s a MORMON. We need to be very afraid of that very strange religion that teaches its members to be clean-living, patriotic, fiscally conservative, charitable, self-reliant, and honest.

10. And one more point…..pundits say because of his wealth, he can’t relate to ordinary Americans.  I guess that’s because he made that money HIMSELF…..as opposed to marrying it or inheriting it from Dad. Apparently, he didn’t understand that actually working at a job and earning your own money made you unrelatable to Americans. My goodness, it’s a strange world, isn’t it?

Actually Mormonism IS freaking weird. - I just saw a You Tube video ...

[ In Reply To ..]
... about Mormonism and the religion is hilariously strange. You should do a search for it and educate yourself on the origins and beliefs.

And Mitt's five sons are kind of creepy. Sasha and Malia are cute and sweet.

And how do you know Mitt's academic records aren't sealed? I've never seen them. Oh, and where are the last 12 YEARS of Mitt's tax returns? Obama released 12 years. But then he had nothing to hide, did he?

Don't need to educate myself on it - used to belong to the church - Careful your hate and bigotry are showing

[ In Reply To ..]
I could find lots of you tubes to show how strange the Muslim faith, catholic, judaism or any religion is.

It would be wise for you to follow Obama's own words and leave your nasty hateful remarks about politicians kids to yourself. Romney's boys are handsome and Obama's girls are cute. Creepy is your attitude.

No, his records are not sealed and no you do not need to see them, but if you wanted to (which you obviously don't) you can find out for yourself.

And you guys need a new line with this faux tax form thingy. Here's a hint MITT HAS SHOWN THE PROPER YEARS TAX FORMS THAT ARE REQUIRED. GET-A-GRIP!!!

You need to educate yourself on manners.

Mormonism is okay for those who need a ruled-in - little world. Rates of depression Sm

[ In Reply To ..]
and other emotional problems are reportedly fairly high among Mormon women especially, but by a long shot not all of them have their husbands effectively chosen for them, etc., etc. Like any other church, it works for those for whom it works.

The problem is, if you're not the right-shaped peg for that hole, to leave the church is usually to lose all your family, all your friends, become an outcast to the only society you've ever known, and condemn yourself to a lower level of heaven, away from all you've know. So most don't.
Pssst - in case you didn't know this - Careful
[ In Reply To ..]
Here since you didn't know this I'll outline it for you.

1. Americans are not going to have to change their religion.

2. Emotional problems run high in all religious groups and in people that don't associated with religious groups.

3. You are not going to have your husband picked out for you.

4. You will be able to attend or leave any church you please. You will be no losing your family or friends if Romney becomes president.

5. All religions are okay for those who need a ruled in little world.

6. You will not be baptized unless you want to be. My sister who does mormon baptism said they do not baptize everyone.

Besides...I would rather be baptized after I'm dead and gone and onto my next life than to be forced to wear a burka, cover up every inch of my body or face being beaten and raped. Be forced to pray 5 times a day and not question them or get your head chopped off. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out which is the better of the two.

But, no, after Romney is elected I will still have the freedom to go to a methodist, catholic, hindu, wiccan, lutheran, jewish, mormon, or muslim church, synogague, mosque or whatever service I want or none if I don't want.

You people really need to lay off the fear mongering and hate. It will make you older before your time.

Live and love life. Peace to all and have a great weekend.
How refreshing! A post that makes sense. - I applaud you.

stop buying into all the fear mongering and hate, and that includes believing that silly fiasco being passed off as a documentary about America in 2016 under Obama. Obama and Romney want the same thing for this country; they just have different ideas on how to get there. Romney wants to do it the same way the republicans have done it for years even though Republican ideas of tax breaks and deregulation have failed time and again and even had disastrous results during the last Republican (Bush/Cheney) administration. Obama wants to do things the way the Democrats have always done them because that way has been successful time and again… especially during the last Democratic (Clinton) administration.

Mormonism - also a little creeped out

Actually his great-grandfather moved to Mexico to avoid the US anti-polygamy laws. Nothing strange about this apple-pie American guy.

He, meaning Romney, -

[ In Reply To ..]
Romeny himself didn't move to Mexico to avoid anti-polygamy laws. The mainstream Mormom church, of which he is a member, no longer practices polygamy. Also, Obama's grandfather or great (one of the two if not both) practiced polygamy in Kenya. His father had married his mother while having a wife in Kenya. I don't hold that against Obama. You shouldn't hold what other Mormons and relatives of Romney's do against Romney. Vote for the man who can fix our financial problems - Romney.

"charitable and honest" ignore the lower 47% of the population cuz they're moochers? Do they just give to those who just make 1 mil a year as opposed to those who make 13 mil (those poor souls)?

BTW, representing "yesterday" in a society that is constantly changing and evolving really does us no good. People in this country (as opposed to say those in Afgan) like progress. Its called moving FORWARD.

Google Mormon savings rates--they're among the lowest. - Cannot afford to save after tithing, SM

Now, I'm just saying this was the impression I got....I haven't researched the actual numbers of where the donations go.

maybe they should keep their money instead of giving it to the church and then they wouldn't need assistance and be such "moochers."

Of course, tithings for them is an obligation. "He who is tithed shall not be burned at Christ's' 2nd coming." They are the only religion I can think of where you actually have to pay to be considered a good member.

I think now it is just recommended by a lot of churches, especially if you use some of the programs they offer, that you pay that much, but Mormons enforce it more and may kick you out if you don't pay up. After all, the Crystal Cathedral, Mormon Tabernacle and Vatican City didn't pay for themselves!

you said "all churches I know want you to tithe 10%" or presumably get kicked out? That leads me to believe you think (at least) a lot of churches do kick folks out for tithing issues. Here, I'll try and simple-ize it for you - Better than David Letterman

[ In Reply To ..]
1. No, they do not ignore the lower 47%. Mormons are charitable and honest. When my mom passed away she did not belong to any religion. I was living across the country. My sisters church did everything for us. They took care of us and helped us without anyone asking for their help. So the answer is they help "everyone".

BTW, the section you purposely distored I will go over for you:

"7. Represents an America of “yesterday”, where people believed in God, went to Church, didn’t screw around, worked hard, and became a SUCCESS!"

When my MIL talks about growing up, she talks about the "America of yesterday" where people believed in God, went to Church, didn't screw around, worked hard, and became a successful. She grew up in the 50s and she said it was a great time to grow up. Clean, where kids still had an innocense to them. Representing an "America of yesterday" does not mean moving backward. It means bringing back the goodness in America Even my MIL who is a die hard progressive, if you don't support Obama your a racist women always says she wishes it was the 50s again when life was good and clean. It doesn't mean moving backwards, it means moving forward but in a positive direction bringing back the goodness that we had of yesteryear. But then again, you already knew that.

Wanna try again?

I'm off for the weekend. Have a good one.

I like all the good things about.... - Cassie

[ In Reply To ..]
..."yesteryear," but when we wax poetic about those good old days, I think a lot of us forget that in those picture-perfect 1950s, while the "picture" may have been perfect, this was an era where women didn't have much choice besides staying with an abusive or alcoholic husband because she had never worked outside the home and had 5 or 6 kids to raise, victims of child molestation were often not believed (IF they had the courage to even tell someone, that is), and priests were considered God's representative here on earth (who could do absolutely no wrong, and we all know where that kind of thinking could lead). Yes, there were some beautiful, simpler things about the 1950s; but let's not forget that a lot of the children who were born and raised in those picture-perfect families ended up being the generation that got into lots of irresponsible sexual activity and drug abuse. It seems like they must've been escaping from SOMETHING.....just not their Father Knows Best societies, eh?

I'm a believer that every time and era has been filled with good and bad, and it's too easy to look back and remember only the good. Some day, we'll probably look back at THESE days and reminisce about the best of times. Heck, if we didn't live in THESE times, I wouldn't be able to Skype and visit with my grandson who lives 12 hours away. :-)
And we have a winner - you too have missed the point - go figure
[ In Reply To ..]
The article was not talking about alcoholic husbands, child molestations, drug abuse etc. Each time a liberal tries to argue and twist what was written into something its not, it never looks good for the libs.

Wherever you got not being able to Skype??? The article never said anything of that sort.

But then again you know that too.

C'mon libs, at least try and act like you know what you're talking about.
Hmmmm; not sure, but maybe... - Cassie
[ In Reply To ..]
....you missed the point, too(?). I wasn't addressing any "article" in my post....at least not that I know of or intended to (LOL). I'm not even sure which article you're talking about, but, no matter--I was only trying to say that when we think those good old days of yesteryear (the 1950s, etc.) were perfect, they may not have always been so perfect as our memories recall.

My reference to Skyping was just to say that these "imperfect" times of ours have brought about their own good things. My mom almost NEVER got to see her grandchildren who lived across the country from her. I wasn't referencing any article, at all.

Sorry, I may not understand just what you're taking me to task about; but I actually DO know what I'm talking about as far as remembering what things were like in the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, 1980s.....well, you get the idea. :-)
That's what I'm talkin about...sm - JTBB

....makes him sound TOO perfect, to be honest with you!! It's a prejudice, I admit, but I have a healthy distrust of people who are toooooo perfect.

As for #4, "Can’t speak in a fake, southern, “black preacher voice” when necessary," -- maybe not, but he sure TRIED to fit in with his "Who, who, who....who let the dogs out?" riff, when he was trying to pal around with a bunch of African American kids that time. And he also tried to show that he was "just one of them" when he was sitting down with a group of out-of-work folks and spouted that "I'm unemployed, too." Heh, heh, heh....real funny, Mitt!!

My point is that, in case you haven't noticed, it's a POLITICIAN thing to try to "connect" with your audience. The difference I see is that Obama actually can do it--Mitt seems to be buffoonish when he tries to do it.

Mormons ARE encouraged to consider themselves - superior to others, too perfect or not. :) NM

....in the current Republican climate with the frenzy of tea-partiers, he likely would not have even BECOME the nominee if he HAD stuck to his guns as the more moderate Republican he used to be. I agree with a talking head I heard earlier today, saying that if Romney loses, there will likely be a sort of "civil war" in their party between the far right and the moderates between Nov. 6th and the next election cycle.

With regard to #4, it's not really fair to (sm) - Texan

diss Romney just because he can't speak Choom. Obama can talk down to people at will, can even speak different dialects. Sometimes I think he's not sure who he is, he gets so caught up in the lies. The only thing he can't do is talk UP to people. He's as high as he can get on that pedestal now. If he went any higher, he would be wearing a halo.

What America of yesterday? Which yesterday? - Fanatical Hypocrite

[ In Reply To ..]
The revolution where we were fighting and dying in the streets? The time after that where we made it illegal to speak ill of the government through the Alien and Sedition Acts. The War of 1812 when we decided to annex Canada for wood and they burned our capital? The intervening years of slavery? The Civil War where American killed American in the bloodiest war of our history and eventually assassinated the man responsible for ending it? The Trail of Tears? The Wild West? World War I? Prohibition? The Depression? World War II? Korea? Segregation? Vietnam? The Nixon administration? The red scare, Cuban Missile Crisis and Cold War with a Russia that never really existed outside our own nightmares (while they fought their own Cold War with an America that didn't exist either)? The era of widespread southern violence against de-segregation? The Carter financial crash and Iranian hostage situation? Reagan's administration that oversaw the beginnings of Wall Street's rise to power and the fundamental destruction of our nation's financial safeguards because of Washingtonian corruption and widespread lobbying? The Clinton administration which saw us at war with Serbia for no apparent reason, bombing an aspirin factory because we thought it was something else and the further decay of our laws? I'm assuming people remember the last 12 years.

I love America, but America has never been perfect - the human condition, perhaps? Everyone keeps talking about the days where we were all paragons of morality and hard work. Those days never existed. I thought that way about the 1990's. Do you know why? I was a kid. I was care free. The whole world was at peace and I knew I was safe and loved. People I've talked to who are older than me tell me they didn't remember the 90's as being such a paradise, now forever adrift in a past only me and my generation remember (at least the other privileged middle class suburbanites of my generation).

Conservatives look back on the 1950's and the baby boomers as the real America. We just beat the Nazis and everything was perfect. Being predominantly white helps maintain that viewpoint. Meanwhile, liberals look ahead to a future where all the world's problems have been solved by hugs.

So, what was the perfect time in America? Was it a decade or a year or a month or a day? For some brief moment in time was everyone who worked hard and treated their fellow man with respect universally rewarded for their behavior? Or like me was your paradise an illusion because you were still too small, too ignorant and too sheltered to see the truth. It disrespects all the previous generations to gloss over the hardships they endured and disrespects all the future generations to forget the sins of our past.
