Do people really think that everyone has the choice to forego a nutritious meal to eat at home?

I was amazed at how many Buddy Packs (weekend supplements) go home out of my child's class.

I wondered why when they have a 1/2 day for teacher collaboration they have them stay through lunch---oh, that's right, many don't have a lunch to go home to.

Obviously, the 1/2 lb of bacon is an EXAGGERATION.

Change is always difficult and changing diet is very difficult (most of us who have tried to diet/change life-style habits have found), but if the numbskulls can butt out of the educated decisions about nutrition and let the program progress, the children will be better for it.

for their school lunches. For any parent desiring their children eat healthy, it was very, very easy to plan breakfast, dinner, snacks around what the school did. However, you had to have the desire.

Anyone that was on a restricted budget, had multiple food banks around, churches dispensing fresh vegetables/fruit weekly, as well as restaurants that donated their surplus for those in need. This information was easily available without the need for government getting involved.

What M. Obama did was stick her nose, as usual, where it did not belong. Anyone wanting to avail themselves of those options did so and paid not one dime for any food they received.

It is the myth of many that, but for the schools and the government, kids had no healthy food. Simply not true.

The menus are posted weekly in the newspaper. This week turkey tacos, Mac and cheese, pulled pork sandwiches, chicken parm with pasta, and pizza are on the menu. There is also a salad/fruit bar available every day. Continental breakfast is also available every day, cold cereal, muffins, juice and milk. Our town does not rely solely on federal funds to finance school breakfasts and lunches but includes extra money in the school budget to provide better choices. We also have cafeteria workers that cook the meals from scratch. I realize that not all programs are created equal but it is certainly not Michelle Obama's fault if your school system is feeding your children crap. Go to the school board meetings and complain if you are unhappy, or, here's a thought, pack a lunch for your kids and stop expecting the government to feed them

thought process. All the things you mentioned were served at our schools, with and without "federal aid". They also had the occasional hamburger or pizza...GASP!! Call the Liberal food police.

A friend of mine is the nutritionist for our entire school district; she was hired by both private and public schools. She is college-educated with multiple degrees, and also a mother - WITH COMMON SENSE SO lacking in the Liberal thought process. She designed meal plans months in advance to get the best deals, etc. and meet the nutritional guidelines. She has continually remarked about the massive waste in the thousands of dollars with Mooch's "plan", and there is simply no need for it. She commented on how her suggestions fell on deaf ears. The waste continues with the kids choosing to not eat anything rather than the slop placed in front of them. Thanks Obama!

**For those wishing to flame - Mooch has no degree regarding meal planning, cost effectiveness, nutritional balance for multiple school districts and the nutritional needs of children of all ages - my friend has all of that and more.

Whoever is telling conservatives that Michelle Obama is designing meal plans and deciding the "nutritional needs of children of all ages" has successfully twisted things so out of perspective.

There are multiple indoctrinated and degreed up people at the USDA who designed the guidelines and Federal meal requirements and apparently multiple indoctrinated and degreed up local school food authorities who make decisions about what specific foods to serve and how they are prepared.

Then too, this is America where parents are free to send their children with their own lunch choices if their local school food authorities suck at their responsibilities rather than expecting government to assume their parenting responsibilities or blaming the FLOTUS for it.

It is easier to label and blame one person, though, rather than yourself or your local school food authorities for not providing something people are expecting of the federal government.

I had something relatively decadent. boneless skinless chicken cooked on the stovetop with butter, garlic, salt, pepper and dried onion.
