According to Michelle Bachman, Stupak was ONLY

Posted: Mar 21, 2010

up to the moment he changed his no vote to yes after being reassured by the language in the executive order.  She continues to spin her web of deceit as we speak.  I have stood in amazement for the better part of this day to witness pub after pub after pub get up and lie, lie, lie like a dog, to what end is anybody's guess.  I will be celebrating later this evening after the vote count, if for no other reason that this is becoming a closed chapter and soon enough will be fading into the rear-view mirror so we can start focusing on jobs and the economy.  What a relief that will be.

first of all, you don't know what is true or false. An opinion other than yours does not constitute a lie. second of all, lying is about the only thing in congress that knows no party boundaries... one should be looking in both directions before making such an outright foolish statement

what is in the bill. I am not calling them on this because of a difference of opinion. I am making those observations because pubs are making one statement after the other that are demonstrably false, as in diametrically opposite of what actually appears in black and white in the text of the final version of the bill.

I don't know which is more insulting...the lies themselves or the presumption on the part of the pub reps that the American public is so ignorant as to simply accept their word as gospel. I will admit that their behavior makes me sick and I am tired and angry over their destructive devices and tactics.

What I am most grateful for is that the democrats decided against using the Slaughter rule and were able to accomplish this on a straight up and down vote. OUTSTANDING job, considering the resistence they were up against...a testament to the fact that no matter which side of the aisle the lies are coming from, they do not serve their sponsors nor our nation any useful purpose whatsoever and when all is said and done, they end up destroying the cause of their perpetrators.

You think these pubs are assuming the american public is so ignorant as to accept their word as Gospel? What the h___ do you think the Dems are doing in view of the fact that the public is not in favor of this reform? They are outright telling the public that the public is too dumb to know what we think so they will tell us how to think or they will think for us. Geez louise, you cannot have it both ways.
Most are against the absence of a public option - NOT health care reform...

and the statistics have clearly demonstrated that since last summer. Besides, that has NOTHING to do with the lie marathon that has been going on all day today.

a majority are against this legislation but the Dems are going to go ahead with it anyway. And like I said, that lie marathon knows no party boundaries. It seems, however, that democratic supporters think their lies are okay because they know best.

should be your first clue that public option is far from dead, since its passage would immediately produce happy campers among nearly 70% of the population. Personally, I think that makes step one reasonably justifiable. You, of course, are free to disagree.

You must have missed the part where I said "regardless of which side of the aisle" lies are coming from, indicating my concession to you point about the bipartisan trait. However, today has been the PUBS turn to showcase this shameful embarrassment almost without exception every time they opened their mouths. They have truly been on overdrive, just like the posters on this board have been over the past couple of days.

Mrmister was right. The folks on the right need to take a deep breath, settle down and get themselves reacquainted with the more rational sides of their nature. No one will be holding their breath waiting for that to happen anytime soon, I can assure you.

EO is dead giveaway - SmartestOne

Well *IF* anyone here besides moi knew a thing about law and the Constitution (BTW, Ms. Bachmann is a tax attorney), they would KNOW that she is correct. How do I know? Because I can't believe that Mr. Stupak is TOO STUPID to know that an E.O. is issued by the Executive Branch (Prez), NOT the Legislative Branch (Congress), ergo cannot amend or addend a law with it. It's NOT LEGAL (not that the Dims ever cared about law!), and that was explained just a minute ago on the House floor.

BTW, I'm an independent conservative and criticize Repugs too when they screw up, but this is NOT one of those occasions. The Dims have told more lies about this bill than I have ever seen in my life.

One more thing: If you think Oblahblah is moving onto jobs (finally!) next, think again. AMNESTY FOR ILLEGAL ALIENS is next on his agenda. Seems La Raza ("the race") is owed a payback. Gee, another bribe -- why am I NOT surprised?

Obviously you have missed the point of the original post. - sm

Bachmann's credentials fail to impress when her behavior is that of a crazed loon 95% of the time. However, the comment was aimed at the (yawn) repetitive tendency within the pub party toward hypocrisy so blatent that even a grade-schooler could pick up on it. Stupak was a man of principle, a veritable HERO (her words not mine) until he took his principles and applied them to the other side of the argument. This immediately turned him into public enemy number one. Your ramblings about constitutional law really have no bearing on that, do they now?

I am certain that Stupak knows the limitations of EO, but O graciously provided him with a face-saving gesture that Pelosi was prepared to deny him on account of his grandstanding and attempts to turn HCR into another miguided debate on abortion...a bluff-calling cold shoulder he richly deserved. The result was that the Stupak dozen, nine, six or whatever were given the opportunity to join their compadres on the right side of history tonight, which they did not hesitate to seize. You assertion that executive orders are "not legal" (HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA) is too ignorant to dignify with a comment, except to say that, no, they are not legally binding, but this particlar one seems to have carried enough clout to have served its expressed purposed rather well.

You do not seem to be too well informed on pending "unfinished business" schedule in the House coming up this week before they go on their 10-day recess. That would be the tax extender bill that includes the COBRA and unemployment benefits extensions that have another looming deadline that will occur while they are on yet another one of their endless breaks. You know, the $150 billion measure that is slated to extend unemployment benefits until the end of the year, given the gasping for air status of the job market. There are alleged "jobs initiatives" in that bill (though I do not think they will be all that earth-shattering)...and that was the jobs business to which I was referring.

This may come as a shock to you, but Obama is quite capable of walking and chewing gum at the same time. Yes, I am aware of the pending immigration debates and proposals, but you would have to be on drugs to believe that he is going to be ignoring the economy and jobs in the meantime. The tax extender bill is only one of several such jobs bills coming down the pipeline.

You are also exceedingly ill-informed on the content of the Schumer-Grassley nascent proposals on immigration reform, and your remarks about La Raza indicate you would be doing yourself a favor and preventing future embarrassment by consulting a dictionary on the meaning of bribe. BTW, blanket amnesty is not on the table. In fact, the dialog is leaning toward favoring educated, high-tech future immigrants over existing illegals who will have to jump through hoops to gain status, including paying back taxes, fines, penalties, 3-strike policies on boomerang illegals, etc before being given serious consideration.

No one knows how this will pan out, but one thing is for sure. Democrats will never satisfy the eugenistic desires of the wingnuts among us. They will be favoring policies that are aimed at keeping families together, as promised during the campaign, and as they always have done. Do not try to debate this issue with me unless you come well prepared. I happen to be one of many Americans who has a vested interest in seeing family preservation take front and center, after 14 long years of legal limbo (1996 reform).

I am married to a political refugee who is allowed to work and pay taxes but can't own a home, get a loan (despite many years of hard work and maintaining a successful small business), travel home to see his family (last time in 1982) and who is not allowed to enjoy the simple pleasure of a secure future status, which is kept just beyond his reach despite his 20-year marriage to a citizen.

No dear, this is not about payback or bribes. It's about humanity and basic human rights (mine included), a concpet that sounds as though it is quite foreign (pardon the pun) to you.

Sorry, but the liars are Obama, Pelosi, and gang of thugs.nm - WantMyCountryBack
