Nevermind bipartisanship...Dick Armey

Posted: Jun 4, 2013

With jerks like this in politics, it's no wonder people are afraid to reach across party lines.

"(CNN) - Gov. Chris Christie's decision to set a special election this year to fill New Jersey's vacant Senate seat wasn't met with open arms Tuesday by a fellow Republican, former House Majority Leader Dick Armey.

..."All Christie has to do is appoint a Republican. That's the correct move for him to make," Armey said. "Now, I put it down as debilitating stupidity. The first rule of politics is 'Don't lose the friends you already have for the friends you're never going to get.' And if he thinks the Democrats are going to love him for being the guy who plays fair rather than takes the political opportunity he's crazy."

This guy only wants to make headlines because he's the forgotten guy who's opinion doesn't count. He never impressed me as a good guy. He's a first class jerk.

I think Dick is dead wrong. I don't know - about the Washington

democrats, but Christie has across-the-board respect and support here in NJ.

I agree with you. I'm a Democrat and I definitely respect the man.

I'm wondering if it will matter to NJ voters that he's holding a special election 3 weeks before the regular election (in which he will be running) so he won't have to be on the same ticket with Corey Booker (the supposed dem senate candidate for the special election) at a cost of over 11 million to taxpayers.

His popularity reaches all demographics and political persuasions. His approval rating is even higher with dems than reps. I believe he'd win no matter who was on the same ticket, and I'm almost afraid it might hurt him more that he pulled what some are saying is a political stunt, uncharacteristic of Christie.

I'm not being critical. I like the man. He could have outright put in a republican for the remainder of the term. I think that was a good move and could offset the 2-election possibly nonpopular move, but I'm still wondering how this will be received.

That does sound like a political stunt but, - as you said, he does

enjoy a high approval rating; I think he can absorb that hit. I also think not filling out the remainder of Lautenberg's term with a republican will lessen the democrats' anger over the special election. He could have easily appointed a republican, and that would have definitely been playing politics. Just my opinion, of course.

Christie is the only one who agreed to act in a - Liberal voter

bipartisan way with President Obama. I have a high regard for Governor Christie. (And I always loved spending time at the "Joisey Shore" in the summer: Wildwood, Seaside Heights, etc.)

In fact, now that I live in the midwest, I really, REALLY miss the ocean.

But if other republicans would just cooperate with President Obama, there would be a lot more getting done across the United States. It's too bad that nothing but pure hatred is preventing that from happening.

More Tea Party Shakeups: Dick Armey, TP Leader And Former House Majority Leader,Dec 08, 2012
in a reported disagreement over direction. Freedomworks, of course, is largely backed by the Koch brothers and others who seek an end run around our silly little one-man/one-vote system. This is a counterpoint to the resignation announced just days later, of course, of Senator Demint to run the Heritage Foundation--continuing the shakeups on the far right after their election losses. Officially, Armey disagrees with the "direction" of his organizaiton. Armey declined to specify his disagreement ...

Dick Armey Distributes Saul Alinky's "Rules For Radicals" To Tea Party LeadersMay 08, 2015
*Edited - I originally stated it was Dick Armey instead of William F. Buckley who called Saul Alinsky an organizational genius and that is inaccurate, my apologies. However, the rest of this post is accurate (according to the Wall St. Journal) Tea Partier, Dick Armey, distributes Alinksy's "Rules for Radicals" to Tea Party Leaders. Adam Brandon, a Tea Party protest organizer, also distributes the book to Tea Party leaders, and even created a shorter guide to distribute to the entire ...

So What's Up With Bipartisanship And Only Have Dems Dec 07, 2009
at the Sunday meetings behind closed doors? That's bipartisanship? I don't think so. Don't want to rile anyone up here, but you would think if O was completely for bipartisanship, he would have had some 'pubs at this meeting. What was the meeting about? Health care reform? He certainly should have had some 'pubs there. Where's the transparency he always talked about in his campaigns? I see none of it. I see a lot of closed door meetings. Did I hear right?  ...

not a word of outrage that I can find on this board for the young black man killed by a racist. Where is the passion for his lost future? Dick Cheney Heart TransplantMar 24, 2012
Ahh . . . how the $$ talks.  How many people under 50 have to die waiting for a heart becoz 71-year-old evil-incarnate bought his way to the top of the list?  Disgusting.  He did not have it in him to say I've led a happy life, I will accept my fate.  No.  First he has to get cables hanging off his body to prevent his heart from stopping while he waits and deprives another human a chance at life.      ...

I Know Dems And Libs Don't Like Fox Or O'Reilly, But What About Dick Morris?Sep 03, 2012
He was a Clinton man way back then. He sets the record straight on the Romney ad, and back up the welfare reform act that Clinton signed in 1996. Dick Morris explains the 1996 law very well. I will be looking it up for sure, but in the meantime, watch the video.   ...

Dem Dick Durbin Refused To Disclose 8 Years Of Emails Jun 29, 2017
Dick Durbin, the leftist partisan hack who has advocated filibustering President Trump’s Supreme Court picks, has something to hide. The Associated Press has reported that GOP baseball shooter James Hodgkinson has been involved with at least two Democratic senators from his home state. Clearly these two senators are Dick Durbin and Tammy Duckworth. Durbin, who has long been an apologist for Islam, apparently is a defender of liberal aspiring killers as well. If the emails are so innoc ...

Increasingly Bizarre Story Of Dick Army's (former GOP House Majority Leader)Dec 26, 2012
(I put Tea Party in quotes, because its original grass roots base has become a sad joke.) From the Washington Post, December 25: "The day after Labor Day, just as campaign season was entering its final frenzy, FreedomWorks, the Washington-based tea party organization, went into free fall. Richard K. Armey, the group’s chairman and a former House majority leader, walked into the group’s Capitol Hill offices with his wife, Susan, and an aide holstering a handgun at his waist. The aim ...
