their parents. Complaints mount across the country. Just who do these people think they are? I know, they think they are the rulers of the free world. Well, guess what. You 2 are about to be booted out of your cushy life in the Whitehouse. I don't even have small kids in school anymore, and reading this really **** me off too.

When I was in school, we had nothing but crap to eat. These kids should be grateful *someone* cares about their health.

I'm really disgusted that anyone would have a problem with giving kids healthy food school meals rather than the frozen burritos, pizza and Cheetos my generation had to endure.

Our school always made lunch from scratch, even pizza. Nothing was frozen (except the meat prior to making the meal) and never any Cheetos.

I tried hummus.....once. You can keep it. I also don't know why everyone raves about avocados. I tried them about 4 times (different 'brands')and didn't care for them either.

Black bean salad might be okay. Depends on who makes it and how it's made. I've had a variety of recipes for it and all were just slightly different. I kept the one I liked. :-)

Stuffed celery sticks either with peanut butter (oops! forgot it was banned in most schools)and with pimento cheese spread was very good. Anything wrong with that?

And easy to scoff at until you've seen a 1st grader arrest in anaphylactic shock in a school cafeteria. I have. It isn't pretty.

I can't imagine getting lunches that were made from scratch. Our school had a contract with Round Table pizza, who had a booth set up in the cafeteria. We had 2 lunch stations, consisting of all the frozen wonders of the world, and 3 snack bars, where you could buy ho-hos, ding-dongs, and whatever candy you could think of. Coca-Cola Vending machines were found on either end of the school.

Either we were in different generations, or just in very different schools.

So yeah, I'd have been happy with black bean salad and some freaking hummus.

I'm up to my ears in endocrinology and both of the offices I work for are expanding facilities and adding on new doctors and CDEs this year. Why? Type 2 diabetes. It's definitely a growth industry.

Watch 10 minutes of TV and count how many ads you see for fast food. I say hurray for Michelle Obama. Laura Bush's platform was to improve reading skills in schools. Not even I, who detests George W. Bush with every fiber of my being, could fault her for that. What's the difference between that and Michelle Obama pushing for better nutrition education?

I can't think of a single rational reason why anyone would complain about someone wanting to promote and provide a healthy meal CHOICE for children.
