Question for those who voted for Obama (sm)
Posted: Nov 9, 2012
Are you not at all concerned about this country's massive debt? Do you not think it will go up even more now? Okay if our kids have to pay it? Just curious.
Is this just bait to insult someone? - "Typical" misery loves company?

Do you really like the national debt is the only issue?
Romney's little speech about the 47%, his tax plans, or lack thereof, his catering to the rich, his plans for Social Security and Medicare, his past political reputation, his $700 Billion tax credit to the "job creators" (which has not worked in years), the elimination of certain tax deductions, his stand on healthcare that mirrored his own, his stand on equal pay for women, and women's right in general, the fact that he looks down on even the middle class, his "secret" plans to fix the country that we would learn only IF he were elected, and on and on and on and on. I will give you that he is a ruthless, successful businessman and highly intelligent in that regard, but it takes more than that to run a country. The Republican's same old plans and "socialism" for their own has gotten old and it has back-fired on them. The middle class and, in turn, the lower class are tired of it. They are all voters.
So, maybe Obama is not the ideal candidate. The Republicans are simply going to have to change their ways, become more inovative, relate to the middle class and help them, and stop complaining about the poor being such a drudge on society. They are learning a lesson. Their money can't buy everything!! I actually hope Obama adopts some of Romney's financial ideas.
I voted for Obama because the Republicans need to consider different, smarter, more forward-thinking candidates. They are old-school and outdated. Some of what they have displayed in their candidate choices, their own media people, their own actions, votes and interviews speaks volumes. The Hispanics, the gays, the blacks, the Asians, the Muslims, the women, and all other minority groups are not stupid, and they are not going away. Did I cover the 47%? They are major votes to consider. The Republicans cannot and do not want to relate to them or middle class, if there is a difference.
Heck, Donald Trump is a smart business man. He has made butt-loads of money. Do you want him running the country?
Many votes for Obama were actually votes against Romney, not against Republicans, although many do consider the Republicans bullies. Personally, I would never stick with one party if I felt it necessary to change for betterment of the country. The thing is, there has been no better choice.
"Forward-thinking" --as in Obamacare? THANKS! - is killing jobs as we speak !! nm
"Gimme my free stuff." You think that is what is wrong with the economy? - Oh Please....sm
[ In Reply To ..]
Oh, and the very rich in this country who think they should make billions and only pay 14% tax..... that's free stuff BIG TIME!!
Your bitterness is quite apparent. You know, I have very strong feelings about government, the economy, and politics and it is too exhausting in itself to want to argue with others and insult them if things do not go my way. I cannot let it consume my life. You do your part, clean up your own backyard, and go on. Get other interests in life that bring you pleasure. There were people on here saying they were "sick," did not want to go to work, depressed, etc. Good grief - get a life you CAN enjoy. Do what you feel is your part and let it go. What will be will be. Lighten up.
Better than Romney's plan - old and burned out

Romney's plan of 5 trillion in tax cuts and 2 trillion more for the military (which was not even requested by the Pentagon) would have raised the debt even more and would have cut gov't programs for those who really, really need them. BTW, in spite of all the right wing rhetoric, the budget deficit is actually smaller under Obama than it was under George Bush and didn't it bother you that W started 2 wars while simultaneously lowering taxes? How do you think those wars were paid for?
Interestingly, the GOP, having lost, is caving and will consider new - taxes AND paying our bills. So NO. nm

Like any citizen in their right mind, I am certainly concerned about our massive debt. I have been an American for quite a while and have watched our debt soar. Given the dynamics of debt, it is more than likely the debt will continue to rise. There is no reason to assume that because I voted for Obama, I am somehow immune to the concerns Americans share.
As for our kids paying the debt back, well, that would be a shame. As a society, we pass our successes and failures on to the next generation. That's the price and the responsibility of living in a society together, and it's the best reason for us all to work together to solve our country's problems and our society's failures.

that we have a president who spends like a drunken sailor, and will run it up so that it is totally impossible to pay off, we're concerned. You should be too.
If this is representative of the attitude of your entire party - grits

that's a bigger cause for concern to me than the state of our debt right now. Because entrenched stubbornness and the apparent willingness to cut off one's nose to spite one's face won't solve anything and will, in fact, make it worse.
I'd like to see more of, "where do we go from here, together," than "woe is me, whining makes me feel like I'm making a contribution."
Seriously. It's like ****************** - *****************. (nm)
1. Any of various theories or systems of social organization in which the means of producing and distributing goods is owned collectively or by a centralized government that often plans and controls the economy.
2. The stage in Marxist-Leninist theory intermediate between capitalism and communism, in which collective ownership of the economy under the dictatorship of the proletariat has not yet been successfully achieved.
And for those Obama supporters, have you seen the movie 2016: Obama's America? If not, maybe you should it's very educational.
Go up more? We'll see. I don't have a crystall ball, but I am going to be optimistic that our government will now work ogether to tackle all the economic issues we face. I think the voters sent a clear message that they are not pleased with the bickering and refusal to compromise.
Regarding the kids, they can't pay for it unless they have jobs. But I guess that's delving into another issue that hopefully will be addressed by the government as well, but I think the concept of not putting a bigger tax burden on college students and their parents is a step in the right direction.
