I learned something new and tragic today

Posted: Oct 16, 2013

Did you all know that women are not equal to men under the law on a Federal level?  As in, there is no constitutional gurantee of our rights as citizens of the US?  As in, any rights that we do currently have at the fed/state level can easily be rescinded because there is no constitutional guarantee of protection? I had no clue and I'm pretty p.o'd!!

;

It pays today to be a victim. You can't criticize a victim. - just ask Obama

How is being mad that I don't have full constitutional rights being a victim? - late to the party

[ In Reply To ..]
I don't consider myself a victim. Do you? I consider myself a person who should have the right to have equal protection under the law.

This goes way beyond pay and reproductive rights. This goes into education, social autonomy, and legal representation, to name a few.

Did you also learn who's behind this sorry - state of affairs

[ In Reply To ..]

Think Phyllis Schafly and her conservative regiment, then the usual suspects. The old bitty/battle-ax is still alive.  She dedicated her entire life to attacking women's rights, defining their God-given roles for them, throwing fits over women's reproductive rights, fighting gay rights and same sex marriage, nurturing contempt for the UN and international  diplomacy, and expressing outrage of the very idea of immigration reform. Below is her idea of what all women everywhere should aspire to.  You should be pissed.

Unequal and proud of it!

Question - late to the party

[ In Reply To ..]
Do you think she's barefoot or in heels?
=]

I also do like how she's not actually cooking anything, but where's the baby on her hip?

Thanks for the info. I appreciate it

Pretty funny for a woman to assert that - we should all be homemakers

when she herself is a lawyer and political activist. Do as I say, not as I do?

Answer: - Barefoot. sm

Here's ya go. Google PS's feet and what you get is a short scathing piece on her belief that the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) promotes (gasp) divorce. Follow the link below for your answer's graphic.

Here's an example of just how screwed-up this self-loathing fair-sex assassin's concepts of gender roles really is. After her eldest gay son was outted in Queer Week magazine, she qualified her denial-laced acknowledgement of the shameful family secret by claiming her son enthusiastically embodies his mom's beliefs. She probably enrolled the poor fellow in Dr. Bachmann's conversion therapy clinic.

Luckily, Schlafly and her ilk are dying off. - hope for the future (nm)

Funny And TragicNov 13, 2011
This would be funny if it were just a voice recognition gaffe but an offshore MT typed it and the doctor signed it of course.   Dictated:  For surgery tomorrow, the patient is to be NPO after midnight. Transcribed:  For surgery tomorrow, the patient is to have a beer after  midnight.   Hope that one doesn't go to court.  Tragedy:  they are outsourcing us to these people. ...

Feel Sad Because I Just Learned That A ManJul 28, 2016
I respected very much had an affair.  I know him through my church and always considered him to be the epitomy of ethical, moral, etc.  He was one of a handful of people I considered the spiritual center of our church.  I don't know how to square what happened with what I thought I knew about him.  I dread having to see him and his wife again because I don't think I'll be able to act natural.  It is a very small congregation, so avoiding them won't be ...

Opinions - Is Drawing/paiting Something That Can Be LearnedMay 29, 2014
I don't know the word for it when someone can do something and it comes natural to them.  My mom and dad could draw/paint anything they wanted to.  I cannot, but I would like to.  Would like your opinions if you think drawing is something you can learn or a talent you are born with (think talent is the word I was looking for). Just wondering if it's worth it to try and learn or will I just be wasting my time and stuck with the idea that all I'll be able to draw is ...

Boehner Resolution To Probe When Dem Leaders First LearnedMar 11, 2010
and to refer the resolution to the Ethics Committee reached the required simple majority.  The vote breakdown is very interesting.  Bipartisan support on first vote is 402 (dems 240, pubs 162), 1 nay, 15 present and the 14 no votes.  Dems overwhelmingly supported this resoluton with only 1 dissent vote.  This would indicate a high level of confidence among house party members that the process has been fair and above board.  Looks like they are all to eager to ...

Things About The Healthcare Bill That I Learned Last Night ... (sm)Mar 26, 2010
Okay, one thing that I learned that did not have to do with the healthcare reform but instead has to do with the TARP is that over 450 billion dollars have been given to something like 13 districts that DO NOT EXIST!!!  Okay, so where exactly is this money?  Regarding the healthcare bill, I watched as a young man who had obviously taken the time to read the 2700 pages of the bill confront senators about portions of the bill.  It was shocking to see exactly how little these people ...

Europe Has Learned Its Lesson. Kicking Leftists And GlobalistsOct 20, 2016

How Much Is Your Gas Today?Jan 07, 2011
A while back I posted a message that the oil commodity prices were going up and the last time oil was about $90, gas went to over $4.00.  Do you think there is less oil out there? The last time gas prices increased that much, oil companies reported record profits and Bush was president.  Hmmm.  Republicans have the House.  I think I will go buy some oil stock. ...

BTW, they had to delay surgery for me and the first patient because something was wrong on the light. They finally got that fixed and I was only 20 minutes late going ...

DHS Did Something Right Today.Mar 03, 2015
Supposedly, DHS shut down 20 of these birth tourist homes, all in California. It costs up to $50K for the Chinese mothers-to-be to come and stay here, having their babies in a regular hospital, and then go home. The Fourteenth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution grants automatic citizenship to everyone born in the United States. It was intended to ensure that freed slaves would be able to claim citizenship they rightly deserved. Today, however, some creative "birth tourists" are ta ...

I Got A Cat TodayJan 21, 2016
Believe it or not, I got a wonderful cat at a shelter today! He is a gorgeous black cat, looks like a little panther, and is incredibly affectionate and good natured. He had been there quite a while because the shelter people said they have such a hard time placing black cats! He is a love (and my third black cat), and I am so glad that a friend of mine suggested I take a black cat! So, no Savannah cat, no pit, no Rottie, just a wonderful and loving black cat! He is a very peaceful creature ...
