and to refer the resolution to the Ethics Committee reached the required simple majority. The vote breakdown is very interesting. This would indicate a high level of confidence among house party members that the process has been fair and above board. Looks like they are all to eager to call Boehner's bluff on this. Thankfully, this should put this media blitz and speculation to rest for the time being, at least to some degree. Personally, I resent the uproar and flame-stoking that is going on in the media and from the GOP and the distraction away from HCR, house consideration of the extension of unemployment benefits and the remainder of the tax extenders bill that cleared the Senate yesterday, jobs creation and financial reform initiatives.
Especially pertinent to the jobless is the looming March 27th deadline designated by the 30-day stop-gap measure that passed despite Bunning's debaucle and Obama's planned absence after March 18th. Until the house measure is resolved, the content remains a mystery and a few reports yesterday said that "some" unemployment benefits were extended, based on whether or not the state unemployment rate is above 8.5%. My state does not qualify (8.2%) but my city does (8.8%). I will be out of business if that info is true. It's a real nail-biter for someone who has been pounding the pavement for nearly 4 months to no avail.
It's just a single anecdotal instance showing how callous and out-of-touch the purveyors of distraction and obstruction can be and suggestive of the devasting toll it takes behind the scenes.
