Great post from a local newspaper

Posted: May 27, 2010

A woman in a hot air balloon realized she was lost.  She lowered her altitude and spotted a man in a boat below. She shouted to him,
"Excuse me, can you help me?  I promised a friend I would meet him an hour ago, but I don't know where I am."
The man consulted his portable GPS and replied, "You're in a hot air balloon, approximately 30 feet above ground elevation of 2,346 feet above sea level. You are at 31 degrees, 14.97 minutes north latitude and 100 degrees, 49.09 minutes west longitude.
"She rolled her eyes and said, "You must be an Obama Democrat."
"I am," replied the man. "How did you know?"
"Well," answered the balloonist, "everything you told me is technically correct.  But I have no idea what to do with your information, and I'm still lost.  Frankly, you've not been much help to me."
The man smiled and responded, "You must be a Republican."
"I am," replied the balloonist. "How did you know?"
"Well," said the man, "you don't know where you are or where you are going. You've risen to where you are due to a large quantity of hot air.  You made a promise you have no idea how to keep, and you expect me to solve your problem.  You're in exactly the same position you were in before we met, but somehow, now it's my fault."

Another Great Post That I Did Not Write But WishAug 01, 2010
This was actually on a Facebook page. I think that taxes are a small price for me to pay for my freedom in comparison to the price others ...havealready paid. I'm willing to pay more so that the price our veterans have already paid will have been enough. Some people seem to have a strange idea of what it means to have something taken from them and given to someone else that hasn't earned it. None of us have earned the lives of our soldiers gave for us, but we're all sure quick to ...

OJ Ad In Orlando Newspaper. Jul 18, 2011
High-end restaurant owner, Jeff Ruby of Cincinnati, took out ad in Orlando paper.  It said: Orlando Justice Unreasonable Doubt.   Do you think this was appropriate?   Jeff Ruby was the person who is also famous because he refused to serve OJ in one of his restaurants believing the verdict was wrong and OJ was guilty.   ...

An Opinion From Australian NewspaperJan 09, 2010
Military shock and awe won't overcome terrorism January 8, 2010 A smarter approach, which keeps the threat in perspective, is needed. NOT all ways of dying rate equally in the public mind. More than 1500 Australians died last year in road accidents, many of them preventable. Had terrorists killed the same number, we would have found that unbearable. Even a failed bombing attempt on a plane bound for Detroit on Christmas Day has instantly triggered tighter security. Because the Nige ...

My, My. While Reading Old Newspaper Articles, I Came Across This One:Feb 19, 2013
1/17/2003:  "WARHEADS FOUND IN IRAQ" so I got curious, read the article and found out the U.N. had only found 11 warheads BUT they were going to test them for any trace of chemicals in the warheads.  When I did a search on this article to find out if they ever tested those warheads, I found MORE on the sugject. Please feel free to read the article links i posted and I apologize for the length of this post, but it just goes to show how much the left and MSM has buried a lot of stories/ ...

An Interesting Read In The Washington Times-I Posted The NewspaperApr 03, 2013
waste their time because it's not somebody (Joe Curl) or some newspaper they can believe no matter how truthful the analysis or opinion of the writer. No flaming necessary as I'm just posting an article that does tell the truth even if the headline doesn't give the true contents of the article. It compares Obama and Bush and it's a "thinker." ANALYSIS/OPINION: Being president of the U.S., the most powerful man in the world, is often most about perception. The man ...

German Newspaper Says Assad Didn't Order The AttackSep 08, 2013
This is why the U.S. should wait. This is probably why most countries are not backing us, too. If this is true, then maybe Al Quada, the Taliban, or Hezbollah may have infiltrated the weaponry cache and used them knowing Assad would be blamed. Syrian forces may have used gas without Assad's permission: paper   (Reuters) - Syrian government forces may have carried out a chemical weapons attack close to Damascus without the personal permission of President Bashar al-Assad, Germany&# ...

Every Major Florida Newspaper Demands A Criminal Investigation Of TrumpSep 13, 2016
Florida’s three largest newspapers – the Miami Herald, the Tampa Bay Times and the Orlando Sentinel – just called for a federal investigation of Republican nominee Donald Trump’s payoff to Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi, which forced the Republican nominee to pay an IRS fine and re-ignited media coverage of the Trump University scam and cover up. To date, 827 Floridians have joined the New York Attorney General’s lawsuit against Donald Trump. ...

Historically Black Newspaper From Ben Carson's Hometown: He's Just A 'House NegroAug 23, 2017
Wow. Liberals show you who they really are when they think the environment will permit it. The Michigan Chronicle is a historically black Detroit-based newspaper that has not always been down-the-line pro-Democrat. But I guess there are certain things you have to believe if you're going to qualify as authentically black these days, and one the most accomplished black men ever to grow up in the city of Detroit appears to no longer qualify: Being appointed Secretary of Housing and Urban ...

Watching The "debating" Here And Reading The Newspaper Stories On Gun Deaths, Etc.Jan 21, 2013
Those in the country that are for gun control seem to lump all gun deaths into the final total. I just read today where the editor of the paper pointed out that there are 30,000 gun deaths a year...but (s)he doesn't break it down to non-criminal or criminal.  Most of those deaths were caused by drug deals gone bad, drug deals, gang turf wars, etc. All people are thinking about are the 1% not caused by criminal actions, but the recent tragedy in CT has zeroed in on lumping LEGAL g ...

$20 To A Better Grade, This Is Local To MeNov 11, 2009
Selling candy didn't raise much money last year, so a Goldsboro middle school is selling grades. A $20 donation to Rosewood Middle School will get a student 20 test points - 10 extra points on two tests of the student's choosing. That could raise a B to an A, or a failing grade to a D. Susie Shepherd, the principal, said a parent advisory council came up with the idea, and she endorsed it. She said the council was looking for a new way to raise money.   "Last year they did cho ...

Trump Bad For Local BusinessFeb 20, 2017
For some of the businesses and government agencies that surround President Trump’s “Winter White House,” the effects of his frequent weekend getaways to Mar-a-Lago can best be told in numbers. $200,000 in lost fuel sales at a large local airport in a single four-day visit this month. 75 no-shows at a new restaurant in just one night. $60,000 a day to pay overtime to sheriff’s deputies who guard the many closed roads, a tab that is about $1.5 million over all ...

A Local Family Needs Prayers, Please!Mar 07, 2017
A family in my area needs a lot of prayers right now. A young woman (50) had a brain aneurysm last week and made it through surgery, but the family just received the MRI results that show this woman suffered a devastating brain injury. Things were hopeful as her body had started working on its own so they took her off the paralytics and sedatives, but her brain was terribly injured. The family is going to donate her organs, but said the process of her passing could take several days. Mir ...

A Pilot Program At Our Local ShelterFeb 27, 2015
A few days ago our volunteer coordinator at our local animal shelter sent out an email informing us of a new program to help the dogs. I wanted to share this with everyone, and maybe if your shelters don't offer it, you could suggest it. The program is called Dog's Day Out. Any volunteer at our shelter who is a dog walker (must show up regularly) and has had at least one year experience at doing so, may now take a dog out of the shelter for an entire day. If enough people take adva ...

Is Your Local Newsstation/paper Covering Oct 13, 2016
The election?  If I didn't know better, I wouldn't even know there was anything important going on with the election.  Luckily, I get my news from other sources. But just out of curiosity, I checked my local paper and news station, and not a peep about the WikiLeaks, though a small negative story about Trump was covered.  What about those that use the newspaper as their only source, or believe the 6:00 news is all there is, how will they make an informed decision if they ...

Regarding Medicare Cuts In January - Our Local Paper (sm)Jun 23, 2013
said the cuts to physicians will be 40% by 2016.  Not 2014.  So all the young "folks" can have baby after baby every year by different baby daddies and get the wanna be future hooligans on Medicaid.  This really stinks. ...

Does Anyone Feel This Way About Candidates And Our Elections, US, State Or Local?Sep 23, 2014
Gosh, I cannot understand why they have to spend so much money on elections. The thing is that if these candidates just stated their opinions and were honest with all of us, they'd get elected and re-elected. To me, this is a sick game politics and the whole issue of the problems in our country are not being addressed rationally and with any common sense. I think they need to educate kids on common sense in schools or otherwise we are going to have a bunch of really dumb kids who will repe ...

Erin Brokowich Ad Appeals To Nation, Not Local LitigantsJan 24, 2010
Progressive push-back against SCOTUS campaign finance decision is a sight to behold.  The New York law firm prominently visible in the ad wisely chose their notoroius spokesperson to push for environmental law reform while attorneys quietly prosecute personal injury claims in the background. They managed to do this with 15-second cost effectiveness and  hit the ground running with a near instantaneous response to the birth of corporate freedom of speech.   Holy ...

Trump's Florida Trips Hurting Local BusinessesFeb 18, 2017
When Donald Trump jets off to Florida just the flight costs taxpayers 3 million dollars but it is also hurting local businesses.  Roads are closed, local airports are closed and customers can't get to businesses.  Some of said that if this continues every weekend they will go out of business.  Way to make America great again. ...

Local Fast Food Restaurant Paying $15.00. Success StoryOct 30, 2014
There has been a lot of discussion on this board about raising the minimum wage to $15.00 and I have been very vocal about being in favor of this. I have listened to how the prices of everything will go up, they do anyway. Think of gas prices. Just mention the word hurricane or bad weather and even before a hurricane forms they are raising the prices of gas. Just talk about cold weather hitting Florida and orange juice goes through the roof. So they will raise prices regardless. But my main reas ...
