Those in the country that are for gun control seem to lump all gun deaths into the final total. I just read today where the editor of the paper pointed out that there are 30,000 gun deaths a year...but (s)he doesn't break it down to non-criminal or criminal.
Most of those deaths were caused by drug deals gone bad, drug deals, gang turf wars, etc. All people are thinking about are the 1% not caused by criminal actions, but the recent tragedy in CT has zeroed in on lumping LEGAL gun owners as criminals.
Dislike this post all you want but legal gun owners will pay the price of gun control. Criminals will still have guns. Have you ever heard of a criminal registering their guns? During buyouts by law enforcement officials, the only guns a criminal will turn in are those that are nonworking or too "hot" to handle since most buyouts are "no questions asked" type of deals. Have you ever looked closely to the guns turned in during one of those buyouts? Broken, dirty, rusty, and even "wall hangers."
Now that the media is jumping on the bandwagon, ALL gun accidents are making "front page news" - the example of the 3 gun show accidents - people are really getting hysterical even if accidents at gun shows happened all the time before CT. This is just another example of not letting a crisis go to waste.
There is NO mention of mental health issues by "gun control advocates." It was mentioned in Obama's EO's but quickly buried by the media after a day or two.
I'm off my soapbox for now.
