Erin Brokowich ad appeals to nation, not local litigants

Posted: Jan 24, 2010

Progressive push-back against SCOTUS campaign finance decision is a sight to behold.  The New York law firm prominently visible in the ad wisely chose their notoroius spokesperson to push for environmental law reform while attorneys quietly prosecute personal injury claims in the background. They managed to do this with 15-second cost effectiveness and  hit the ground running with a near instantaneous response to the birth of corporate freedom of speech.   Holy subliminal sound bytes, Batman!  This is brilliant.  Trailblazers across tomorrow's campaign horizons exploring panoramic vistas of new territories yet to be conquered in the Wild, Wild West of fledgling corpocracy, just as Ben Ginsberg predicted.  Two can play at this game.

Appeals Court Strikes Down Obama Recess AppointmentsJan 25, 2013
Really? You mean the courts are finally going to start doing their job? A federal appeals court said Friday that President Obama overstepped his authority with a series of recess appointments to the National Labor Relations Board. The case may wind up in the Supreme Court and determine how far the president can go in appointing people whose nominations would be filibustered in the Senate. The result could affect the standing of other Obama appointees, such as the head of the president's ...

Appeals Court Refuses To Lift Hold On ObamaMay 26, 2015
A federal appeals court refused Tuesday to lift a temporary hold on President Obama's executive action that could shield as many as 5 million immigrants illegally living in the U.S. from deportation. The U.S. Justice Department had asked the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to reverse a Texas judge who agreed to temporarily block the president's plan in February, after 26 states filed a lawsuit alleging Obama's action was unconstitutional. But two out of three judges on a c ...

Guess somebody's pretty upset over it. Too bad. I hope the Supreme Court also upholds it, but I'm tired of Obama trying to change laws. He has no right to make law, change the law, or to pick and choose which laws to enforce, jsut like the the former AG had done.  Hopefully, he won't challenge it but I don't think his ego will just let it go. ______________________________ President Barack Obama's executive action to shield millions of undocumented immigrant ...

As A Christian, I Find The "Biblical" Appeals (demands) ByMay 03, 2016
Jesus came to the world at a time when the popular Jewish understanding of "the Messiah" was as One who would intervene (supernaturally) in the governing affairs of men, overthrow the Roman overlords and establish God's Kingdom on earth.  In some ways, the Jews were expecting their version of the Muslim caliphate. But the legions of God's angels weren't coming to rescue the Jews and establish a divine government.  Instead, Jesus said "My kingdom is not of this world."&n ...

$20 To A Better Grade, This Is Local To MeNov 11, 2009
Selling candy didn't raise much money last year, so a Goldsboro middle school is selling grades. A $20 donation to Rosewood Middle School will get a student 20 test points - 10 extra points on two tests of the student's choosing. That could raise a B to an A, or a failing grade to a D. Susie Shepherd, the principal, said a parent advisory council came up with the idea, and she endorsed it. She said the council was looking for a new way to raise money.   "Last year they did cho ...

“The lessons of history … show conclusively that continued dependence upon relief induces a spiritual and moral disintegration fundamentally destructive to the national fiber. To dole out relief in this way is to administer a narcotic, a subtle destroyer of the human spirit.” These searing words about Depression-era welfare are from Franklin Roosevelt’s 1935 State of the Union Address. This is the first time in American history that young people—32.1 percent of millennials—have been most likely to live with their parents. While the researchers theorize that this trend is due to the fall in the number of men and women settling down r ...

The family is going to donate her organs, but said the process of her passing could take several days. Mir ...
