Regarding Medicare cuts in January - our local paper (sm)

Posted: Jun 23, 2013

said the cuts to physicians will be 40% by 2016.  Not 2014.  So all the young "folks" can have baby after baby every year by different baby daddies and get the wanna be future hooligans on Medicaid.  This really stinks.

;

You just read - Medicaid

I agree with you! I have been disabled since the age of 12 and learned to transcribe in my 20s to support myself. I am your age. I have always worked hard, done my best, and been able to support myself. Don't get me wrong--I believe that people who honestly need help should be helped, of course. However, I see so many people on Medicaid (I pay for my own insurance) who have "side businesses" on the side. I know a man who deals in rare art restoration, makes a ton of money, and has low-income housing. This kind of thing just makes me white-hot. I am happy to have a nice (not fancy, just average, everyday) small apartment and to be able to afford my food and my (increasingly expensive) Blue Cross payment. When I see the free-riders buying new cars (I know one woman who bought a sports car and she is on housing and Medi-Cal) while I take the city bus, it just makes me mad! Again, I do not begrude anyone who really needs it help. Perhaps some day I will no longer be able to work and will need help. Perhaps some day my dwindling MT work will completely peter out and I will need help. But until then, I feel that I have a moral obligation to support myself. BTW, I DO qualify for various disability programs and freebies, but I have never applied for them--I was always taught to be self-supporting for as long as I could. Sorry to go on for so long, but Medicaid (we call it Medi-Cal in California) is really being abused. Well, enough about that. Just wanted you to know you have agreement out here.

It's really nice to see people who make sense here (sm) - Like minded

[ In Reply To ..]
this morning. I feel exactly the same. There is just so much abuse, it's unbelievable. I know a woman with 4 kids, on welfare, and has a pretty lucrative babysitting business in her home which she is happy to tell us she does not report. She's making more than many who have full time jobs. It's really sickening. I don't begrudge them help either, but the truth of the matter is, the easier you make it for them to sit on the couch and give them checks the less incentive they have to go out and make something of themselves. Many of the older folks on Medicare have worked all their lives and deserve it. Many of the younger ones have never worked a day in their lives yet expect us to support them and kid after kid. The fact that the government actually encourages this behavior is appalling.

You said "moral obligation" to support yourself. - That's what is lacking today.

what are you saying here? - question

[ In Reply To ..]
I don't follow your point. How do cuts in Medicare lead you to the conclusion that young "folks" will be having "baby after baby every year by different baby daddies", and who are the future hooligans?

To whom are you referring when you say "folks"? Which "folks" have all these babies, and which "folks" are you alluding to that have different "baby daddies"? It's really hard to figure out what you're saying.

medicare cuts - question

[ In Reply To ..]
I see no relationship between Medicare cuts and repetitive pregnancy by numerous partners; that's why I was asking.

I am perfectly capable of drawing my own conclusions, but if I am interested in knowing your thoughts, all I can do is ask you. Similarly, if you want people to know what you are talking about, you can share your thoughts. If you don't want to share your thoughts, that's up to you and your own accountability.
Do you have any idea at all how many are being - added to the Medicaid rolls? (sm)
[ In Reply To ..]
They get more so the old people get screwed. It's not rocket science.
Do you have a link to support that allegation? - nm

I just looked it up and it said (sm) - Long day
[ In Reply To ..]
if I understood it correctly that if your state opts out of increasing Medicaid, then there won't be that many new people on. However, we will have to pay subsidies for the poor on the regular exchanges, so I guess either way we will have to pay.
The people covered by increased Medicaid coverage - are working people
[ In Reply To ..]
Increasing Medicaid is the result of raising the percentage over the poverty level which in turn means more are eligible. The people newly added are working people who make too much to qualify for any gov benefits, but not enough to afford their own insurance. Usually hard working people who work several part-time jobs to make ends meet and since part-time, company benefits are unavailable to them.

the OP referenced Medicare - not Medicaid - sm

plus, as I mentioned, what I am asking about is the relationship between Medicare (or Medicaid) cuts and repetitive pregnancy with multiple partners.

who have "repetitive" pregnancies, as you call it are staying with the same man for years. You need to buy some reading materials. Even Good Housekeeping has articles on this. One of my friend's kids has 5 children, 3 fathers. This is typical, and I don't believe you've never heard it.

I interpret it as a freckled-faced single-wide dweller who is frequently "visited" by brothers (and I mean that in the genetic sense, not ethnic), reproducing many freckled-face hooligans, the likes of which one may find scampering about Walmart unattended and screaming his or her lungs out whilst mom grabs a bag of salt and vinegar chips and a box of hamburger helper.

Oh but how the conservatives squawk if "the government" pays for a tubal, or a Mirena or BCP!

I wonder if it even enters a conservatives' ((mind?)) that when they shut down Planned Parenthood they're just going to have to deal with all those little hooligans running about. They don't want to feed them, they sure don't want to educate them. What the sam hill DO they want?

It's all the rage. They use buzz words as a stand-in for meaningful content. This way, they don't have to come out and say what they're saying, and we can't respond to it lest we be accused of playing some kind of "card".
