Good to be back from my vacation.

Posted: Sep 3, 2012

I was on an "extreme wilderness vacation" for the last week. Canoeing the mode of transport, sleeping in a tent, no cell phones, no TV. It was great; however, I admit I was looking forward to getting home and finding out how the Republican convention went and especially "The Donald's" special surprise. I was rather disappointed when I found out that the Trump embarassment was quashed by Trump's cancellation due to Hurricane Isaac. I have to give the power of prayer over climate change its due, I guess.

So, then the convention. Ron Paul--out of sight, out of mind? I see no respect was given by the Republican National bosses.  A microphone was abruptly cut when Georgia was attempting to read the number of delegates accumulated by Ron Paul. Not realizing that another microphone was still on, someone snickered: "Well done! Whoever controlled the microphone did a great job!" Amazing since Ron Paul had about 500 delegates at the convention. This is probably an example of how the Pubs plan to treat women, children and the elderly and disabled.

I had understood the big theme of this convention was to introduce you to Romney and do a remake of his image. Did I get this right that no one actually talked about Romney? No one sang his praises? I guess no one wanted to be caught on tape so it would be played back in a liberal commercial 4 years from now.

Paul Ryan, VP hopeful. Even FOX NEWS wrote: "To anyone paying the slightest bit of attention to facts, Ryan’s speech was an apparent attempt to set the world record for the greatest number of blatant lies and misrepresentations slipped into a single political speech." WHAT??? Did He!! Just freeze over? Then Mr Ryan goes on to say that he ran marathons in the high 2's? This boy has a SERIOUS problem.

Ahhh, Clint (the Hollywood guy) apparently did an imitation of this very Board by rambling on and on and putting words in the president's mouth. I did find a video of this and all I can say it makes me very sad to see how pitiful he looked. I sure loved his movies.

Then there was Ann--gave the same speech that Laura and Babs gave before. Rinse, repeat.

So how did Romney do? The actual nominee? 38 percent who viewed speech were less likely to vote for him. This is lowest net impact for a convention going back to 1984. Meanwhile, Mitt Romney’s acceptance speech received the lowest marks since Bob Dole’s in 1996. To tell you the truth, I did not even bother with it and decided to look at my vacation pictures instead.

I saw from reading the board the liberals here were very respectful of the Republican postings during the convention. It will be interesting to see if the Republicans display that same courtesy next week.

What a great RNC recap. - I would only add a few observations

[ In Reply To ..]
Some of the more prominent casualties of RNC week were:

1. T-Paw's limp attempts to be humorous.
2. Santorum's "hands" speech.
3. The big tent notion. Ocean of white aside, rules-change-driven voter suppression of an impure "dirty" delegate count, witnessed in the roll call deaf ear the chair turned toward legitimate Paul, Santorum, Roemer and Huntsman tallies, which they muted during delegate count read-back. So much for freedom, letter of the law, tolerance and inclusion.
4. The Tea Party, whose most notable moment happened with the RNC's reference to Lugar's primary bomb, as “something that has dumbfounded the chattering class.” LOL.
5. Security. They managed to enforce a fresh fruit ban, but the highly visible, Peptol-Bismol pink Dancing Vaginas clan pulled off an unimpeded entrance.
6. Foreign policy. The takeaway from the schizophrenic presentation was the deepening divide within the ranks between hawks and anti-hawks who place a higher priority on fiscal responsibilities.

Uh, sorry to tell you but there were on 200 delegates NOT given to Romney - backwards typist

[ In Reply To ..]
and those 200 included "others," so Ron Paul didn't even get all 200 of those.

The RNC did a tribute to Ron Paul. Guess MSM didn't bother to let anyone know that, either.

Sally Kohn is a known liberal in love with the democrats. Fox News gets her opinion, among other democrat/liberals, because they try to be fair to both parties.

Yea, I know, you find this hilarious, but there's a lot of days that Fox has democrats on to express their opinion on the issues...but I'm not going to keep harping on this issue.

As for Romney, he has jumped up in the polls since his speech...as if I rely on polls. The only way to see how he did is to wait for election day.

As for Ann...I would think you would give her the same respect you would give to Michelle.

Enjoyed your recap too. Would mention the strange lack of - mention of our war and soldiers, not only in

Governor Romney's speech but almost entirely missing throughout the rest of the convention too. Just really unusual.

Any disappointment I might have felt at not getting to watch an entire convention endure The Donald was made up for by Mr. Eastwood's peculiar and inappropriately vulgar presentation. Very strange in that context, and there's no guarantee Donald would have been able to match it. :)

So Trump Is On VacationAug 05, 2017
Are all Obama-haters who constantly complained about Obama's vacations and Obama's golf going to say anything about Trump's vacations and golf?  And please don't say he is not costing the taxpayer any money because he is on his own property because he and his family are costing the taxpayer more than the Obamas ever did.  I guess he needed this vacation because "the White House is a dump." ...

Headed To Colorado On Vacation - Need IdeasMay 10, 2012
My hubby and I are taking two full weeks off and heading to Colorado on our Gold Wing motorcycle in July. We live in Ohio so we are either going to head north through Michigan and the UP to go to Mt. Rushmore on the way (or on the way back depending on what July weather brings). We will be going through Wyoming, S. Dakota, Colorado and are hoping to get to see the National Arches in Utah (the average temp there in July is 90+ so that may not happen!). We are going to see the sand dunes on Colora ...
