For those that think government control of your life

Posted: Apr 16, 2010

Please don't try to think just because these are Indians, this couldn't be you..... it's already rampant in other communities as well.

;

Preposterous to suggest there is a parallel between - Rez life and outside communities.

From the moment the white man laid eyes on indigenous Americans, they were driven by hatred and a false sense of cultural superiority to first annihilate, then sequester their populations. The conduct of the Interior Department preserves this abominable attitude to this day.

The analogy to concentration camps is right on, and the practice has endured for more than a century. Engineered poverty has been inherited from one generation to the next. Their only escape mirrors the original intent of genocidal white settlers, that being to leave the rez, don't look back and assimilate, assimilate, assimilate themselves, their peoples and their cultures out of existence.

Now, would you please cite your sources on that ridiculous claim that this is "rampant" in other communities and while you are at it, please answer this one question. Are you a political activist on behalf of the aboriginal populations and their plight, or do you just drag them out for a nice horse and pony show to make political hay and support your delusional viewpoints?

Call me deeply offended.

The concept escapes many, I realize..... - sm

but government control IS government control. In the video concerning the Choctaw tribe, I lived 30 minutes down the road my entire life from this community....they are wonderful people who have been treated horribly. I walk down their streets, enjoy their festivals...chief Martin just recently passed away; he was a wonderful leader of his people and I admired him very much, as did many. His community is still riddled with alcoholism and drug addiction from having NO movtivation driven by handouts monthly by the government. Did you miss the IMPORTANT issue here? Government handouts completely smashes motivation. The government OWNS you at that point; they make all decisions about your life.

NO, it is NO different in the black community in my town where the SAME CRAP takes place month and month, generation after generation. All they know for the most part if FREE HANDOUTS, they have become totally unmotivated to do NOTHING, which they do very well, even they FREE COLLEGE is offered to all, they have NO motivation to do anything. They become lazy, produce baby after baby that WE also pay for and this starts in middle school. They know the system through and through, know how to manipulate it....men live free illegally in the free housing given to them by my taxes, while popping out one baby after another, with no accountability to paying for those children. It is deplorable. Our schools are full of generation after generation of children who have NO motivation to do anything but be lazy...their parents are lazy and only a few take any initiative to take part in their childrens' lives or education.

Unless you live in a predominantly black community, you wouldn't see this lack of motivation driven by government handsouts, no motivation to WORK FOR YOUR BREAD because the govt will pay for it. I am sick to death of those that want to pander to the government's ways as an OKAY thing for the black community and white as well for those who become dependent on it. When you're 13/14, start having babies, live free in your mother, aunt, cousins' homes paid for by the taxpayer who are going to work everyday so you can sit at home make more babies, while they have to PAY for theirs, I will tell you it is "rampant" in my community. The truth is not pleasant..... mostly the blacks get all rialed up about the facts because they are so use to status quo and very few care about doing anything to better themselves. IN MY TOWN ALONE, they can get a FREE COLLEGE EDUCATION and guess what, most don't bother. 5 children later, they've learned nothing about motivation, self pride, or responsibility for their own actions. Why? Because the government has done EVERYTHING for them since birth.

You tell me what would be their motivation? It is no different than the Choctaws except the Choctaws don't accept it as OKAY; they know what the govt did to them and it is a SHAME that they have had to petition the government to let them have THEIR OWN LIVES! What about that do you not get? They are owned by the government.

The schools have become so dumbed-down around here, it's embarrassing. Test scores don't lie. The teachers who teach children from these situations know exactly what the problem is and it isn't lack of teaching ability. It's the parents who couldn't care less. They are lazy, still live in that "you owe me" mentality and some even tell their children they don't have to mind the "white" teacher because THEY are the ones who feed on racism. It's all they know and it is deplorable.

If the Choctaws have begged for freedom from government control and at least they have overcome so much because of their leadership by Chief Martin over the decades, then there is really no excuse for anyone else to be complacent with the government ruling their lives by kidding themselves that the well will not run dry....because it will sooner or later.

There are sooo many ignorant in your assumptions that ANYONE who dare speaks of providing for yourself means you're a political activist. I grew up dirt poor, no govt handouts.....my folks worked their butts off. I PUT MYSELF through college as did my husband and it was NOT easy. You ever heard of paying your way and not the govt paying your way. It's only those that think like you that perpetuate the belief that ANYONE living off the govt MUST be in a position where they can't do better. This is a horrible misnomer. This is flat out laziness. I see it everyday.

For those that don't drive down the streets of their towns everyday, see the NEW housing put up with their tax dollars with swimming pools, club houses, beautiful condos, wrought iron fence surrounding their compound, while those in there on the dole are walkingn around with new vehicles parked out front, cell phones hanging off their heads, just hanging around doing NOTHING....they know how to manipulate the system. The less you bother to do, the more you get.

It all boils down to do you really want to work for what you have or are you satisfied being a govt dependent.

The Choctaws have never wanted to be dependent on the govt; it was crammed down their throats. Unfortunately, others in my community have chosen this way of life; it suits them fine. I do know from where I speak. I have grown up around it my entire life. Lazy is lazy is lazy anyway you "try" to play it down. NO ONE has kept anyone in my area from further their education, making their own way, taking some pride in themselves. That is a private choice.

So unless you live where I do, do not give me some cock and bull story from the garbage you see on your TV screen, all the misinformation out there that so many who do not see it everyday actually believe!!

You oppose hard work and making your own way in life?

And for your ridiculous comment about "horse and pony show" I am part Native American. I know exactly what the govt has done to native americans and I see the same thing among other people in my community and it has been going on for decades and is only getting worse with Obama. It's the FREE handout program...the welfare state....you ever heard of that?

The difference is, Native Americans never wanted govt control which is why they actually have tried to pull themselves out from under govt rule.... too bad the "rampant" part in the rest of my community doesn't have that work ethic. Everyone wants to skirt around the truth because the truth is ugly and I have NEVER seen the truth portrayed on these ridiculous documentaries about the "plight" of govt dependent families. The plight wasn't there before civil rights days. Most that are considered poverty now days came from middle income families back in the 60s. Some folks need to stop listening to your government and liberal media feeding their garbage and start figuring things out for themselves.

These are not MY viewpoints; these are facts. I see it every day.

I really don't care what YOU think because you are part of this belief system the govt wants you to be; that we need to further the handouts and increase the welfare state....we don't.

For those that haven't lived poor, they don't know nor care; they just believe whatever garbage they are taught. And the ones who speak out are considered racist or given names that try to make them look like they couldn't care less when in actuality these folks are simply saying wouldn't you take MORE pride in making your own way in life than having the government own you?

The choice is up to you.

I am deeply offended from all the assumptions you have made about me and you don't know anything about me; you just spew the regurgitated garbage you have obviously heard for decades. I have lived in and among it and I am here to tell you, no one I know lives hand to mouth off the government. When you don't make your own money you don't care how it is spent either, which is why it pays for hair weaves, expensive nail paint ons, and other wasteful spending. Their free beautiful homes are vandalized, graffiti all over them, torn up....why? Because it's not theirs and they have no sense of pride for anything because they are not paying for it.

It would do you good to read your own 1st paragraph.....you think I don't get it? I've lived poor.... I know. We just didn't take govt handouts; that is the difference. The ranting you seem to be doing concerning the native population is exactly what is going on to the black population in this country and by your Obama at that. It is no different. Keep them dependent and they will vote and vote and vote again for you because they continue to want what they don't have to work for.....

GREAT POST (nm) - Thank You

and straightforward response I've ever read. Thank you for sharing. You gave really good and real life examples of why continues govt handouts are worse for this country than making people actually work for their education, housing, etc.

Gun ControlJan 24, 2013
Saturday there will be a march in Washington, DC... a march for common-sense gun legislation: to reinstate the assault-weapons ban, to forbid high-capacity magazines, to enforce a 28-day waiting period for gun purchases, to require background checks and gun-safety training, to outlaw bullets that shatter in the body.  No one needs 100 rounds of ammunition to kill a deer. They're threatening to sue the Tucson Police Department because the police department wants to destroy guns turned in via their buyback program. The NRA is upset, saying it's illegal to destroy the guns and they have to be sold to a licensed firearms dealer. Those guns were willingly handed over by citizens and are now the PD's property. The PD are the people who actually put themselves on the line and deal with situations arising from firearms, and if they want to destroy them, ...
