I have a SERIOUS question about guns and gun control

Posted: Jun 15, 2017

If you don't like the questions because they could be too serious, then don't answer.  I'm not up to argumentive answers. I'm tired of the "it's ________ fault" type of answers.

Some dems and libs are jumping on needing more gun control so my question is:
1.  How do you tell if someone is going to be mentally ill years from now.
2.  Are the gun dealers going to have to take a course in psychiatry to figure out if the person in front of them wanting to buy a gun is going to flip out a couple years from now?

Gun control is in place now. We don't need more control. It's impossible to figure out if someone is mentally ill or not. Look at how they decided a few years ago that all military personnel shouldn't be allowed to have guns because they are mentally ill with PTSD, throwing all military into that group even though most military weren't diagnosed with it.

Just look at Seattle and what happened there. A tax on guns and ammo because they figured they'd control the guns and ammo and they'd get $500K in revenue a year....but they didn't even hit the halfway point. With the exception of one or two, gun dealers left the city.

There is such a thing as freedom and the Constitution. Gun dealers had the right to leave the city, but really, the left has no right to take away the guns of anyone, especially those that are, or were, in the "militia." That's in the Constitution.

;

Now that they've whipped their followers into a rabid - frenzy that wants to kill, they think

[ In Reply To ..]
disarming us should be the next step. :)

Catch is criminally-minded people - do not follow the law.

[ In Reply To ..]
Aside from that people with guns stop crime, just like what happened yesterday to the shooter. Without armed people at the scene, there would be more casualties.

Whipping into a rabid frenzy. - You are why people cannot discuss gun control.

[ In Reply To ..]
This shooting was not the fault of any Democrat. Do you find out whether all the murderers in this country are R or D when there is a shooting practically every day. No. This one was a politically motivated nut. Every person who takes a life with a gun is mentally off. Whether they are D or R does not matter.

You did not refer to this man as an individual. You said "they" and "their." Who is "they" that wants to kill you. There was no "they" that committed this crime. It was ONE person. As well, there is no "they" who want to disarm you. That is not what gun control means. Do a little research on what it would take to abolish the second amendment, it might relieve your fear a little bit. IT WILL NOT HAPPEN, and if it ever does it certainly will not be in our lifetime.

Some say why come up with laws criminals will not obey. While that is true, you would still get a ticket if you ran a red light. So many people do it, and it is still against the law and a punishable crime - every day. But we should not make laws for criminals because they will not obey them. What kind of logic is that?

I think we do need stricter gun control. It would probably take another 50 years for it to do any good but you have to start somewhere. I also agree that these nuts and criminals will still get their hands on guns. However, if the assault weapons were illegal it would go a long way toward saving lives. No one hunts with those guns. No one protects themselves with them. They have exactly ONE purpose, to kill as many people as possible as quickly as possible. Eventually getting them off the street by starting now is all I want to see out of gun control. Your statement, "they think disarming us should be the next step" is simply not true. Spin, spin, spin. Lie, lie, lie. Not to put forth anything constructive but to make it sound like you know what you are talking about, when you don't, and blaming a whole group of people as if they were one. I can see right through people like you.

Somebody sounds defensive. You think we need more gun control? - We already have 30,000 gun laws at the

[ In Reply To ..]
moment. What more control do we need?

This sounds like it came from "The View." What's the first thing - the left does after a shooting, blame the gun.

[ In Reply To ..]
Call for more gun control. They like to use the words "assault weapons" a lot.

No, not all gun owners shot the Congressman; just one Democrat fanatic.

David Frum, senior editor for the Atlantic, called for background checks, gun licensing and registration, long gun permits, limits on magazine size, and restrictions on open carrying of guns.

David we already have all those things. Not much has changed.

1962: We ONLY want to register handguns! Rifles and shotguns will not be affected!

1964: We want to register ALL GUNS! and ban the import of 5 shot bolt action army surplus rifles.

1968: We demand the registration of ALL FIREARMS, and a ban on foreign Saturday night specials and army surplus rifles (They got this ban).
1971: We demand a BAN on all SATURDAY NIGHT SPECIALS!

1976: We demand a ban on ALL HANDGUNS! Long guns will not be affected!

1981: The NRA is a RIFLE ORGANIZATION! They should give up their handguns and they can keep their rifles!

1986: We DEMAND a ban on semi-auto rifles and shotguns!

1993: They got a 10 year ban on new military style rifles.

2000: We demand a ban of single shot .50 cal rifles!

The left is never satisfied, ever!

the media says and stuff I've seen here; tax the rich, the Republicans want sick people to die, harming the environment, blah, blah, blah, same stuff Schumer, Feinstein, Pelosi says verbatim word for word.

It didn't take long for the gun control issue to come up, as predicted. Your party is very predictable. You exploit the poor, play the race card, class warfare, riot when you don't get your way, demonize your political enemies...All that anger cannot stay inside.

And YES, the left HAS been trying to get rid of the second amendment for years, slowly.

The Democrat Party is the grievance party, always angry about something.

Amen. The left has not figured out yet that it's human - nature that needs to be controlled, not

It went on for almost 3 hours. His friends list was visibly dropping. Liberals were outnumbered by rational thinking Americans in the comments a good 4 or 5 : 1.

I think he carried his distress too far. Perhaps inciting factors were the antics of Madonna, Ashley Judd, Kathy Griffin, Trump as Caesar, Bill Maher, Barack Hussain Obama, Hillary Clinton, et al, the Resistance Movement, etc.

Well, obviously he was mentally ill - Perhaps his brother is not

We have evolved, both good and bad - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
We don't need guns. We certainly don't need semi-automatic/military style guns. Frequently, people who commit crimes with guns have been identified by prior arrest or common knowledge to have mental illness, yet they still retain their rights to guns. Mental illness parameter is a very difficult exclusion to gun ownership to enforce, but frequently it is obvious.

Republicans seem to want to be able to determine whether the poor can buy ketchup, but god forbid, anyone actually do real evaluation of something important.

As to whether we need more gun control, we have completely divergent approaches. I contend no guns available prevents gun violence...eventually all gun violence. Yeah, I know, all the bad guys will have guns and none of the good guys, but eventually that will not be the case.

And when the Constitution - was written

[ In Reply To ..]
the guns they had were muskets - you can have all of those you want!

People still had morals and respect for the United States of America. There was no such thing as a liberal progressive democrat.

All I'm saying - is that we

[ In Reply To ..]
have a responsibility to make sure guns don't get into wrong hands. I don't think anyone "needs" a gun that would shoot 100 rounds in 10 seconds in order to protect their home and family! I am not against people owning hand guns for protection and rifles for hunting, but who does anyone know that needs an AK47 or whatever for either of those things!

Gun control. An old subject. I can remember 20 years ago when everyone was in a frenzy about it, so scared their guns were going to be taken away. No one has tried to take people's guns away, nor do they want to. The NRA likes to get people scared into thinking that is going to happen but it's not and never will. AK47s should be outlawed in my opinion. In the area where I live, I have heard owners of that gun say "I don't need one, I just want one to play with." Those guns were intended to kill people and that is the only reason and were meant to be used by the military. If these boys want to play with them, they should join the military. Everything is all fine and good until their children get killed with one. I honestly though don't know if that would phase them. I have no problem with handguns or rifles or shotguns used for recreational use or hunting but military style guns should be for the military only in my opinion.

The second amendment was put there so we can protect ourselves - against the government. That's why it's

[ In Reply To ..]
That's how important it is.

Guns And Intrinsic Danger. Or, "guns Don't Kill, People Kill"Dec 15, 2012
If I were at a party, left the adults and put a nerf ball in the familiy room where the children were playing, nobody'd think anything of it. If I put a loaded gun in there, every adult would rush to get it before the children did. THAT IS BECAUSE GUNS ARE INTRINSICALLY DANGEROUS. The only thing that changed was the presence of a gun, but no one would claim it was actually the children who were dangerous. Suicides by gun are much more likely to result in death than ANY of the other usual ...

Americans never give up your guns 28.12.2012   By Stanislav Mishin  These days, there are few things to admire about the socialist, bankrupt and culturally degenerating USA, but at least so far, one thing remains: the right to bear arms and use deadly force to defend one's self and possessions.
