Economics debate with no discussion on economics

Posted: Oct 29, 2015

So far on the news coverage of the debate this morning, there have been no comments made on actual economic problems that concern the average worker.

Were there any actual  discussions of economics?

I guess the Democrats are the only ones with any real options.

;

What kind of economics? You mean more debt? - Ted Cruz talked about going back on the

[ In Reply To ..]
gold standard and his flat tax plan.

Thank you Senator Cruz for your integrity, intelligence, and courage!

Unless you mean freebies. That's just old fashioned socialism. That's what the Democrats stand for.

Blame the stupid moderators who asked the stupid - questions. If you truly want to

[ In Reply To ..]
know, go the candidates websites.

Agreed. The moderators were a joke. - humble

[ In Reply To ..]
So obviously biased. Glad the candidates took the opportunity to point that out. I would have loved to just slap one in particular upside the head.

Always blame the moderators when the candidates are not up to the job - Really!

[ In Reply To ..]
Any one of them could have adjusted any of the questions to something more substantial, but they chose to be argumentative instead. It just showed that none of them were up to the job. They all failed miserably.
Oh come on!!! The moderators were horrible!!!!! - no excuse for that garbage!
[ In Reply To ..]
That was not a debate! Those obviously liberal moderators were only trying to make ALL of them look bad. They were extremely disrespectful and did not ask questions with substance, but rather to use their own bias to find a way to make each one look bad. However, in the end, it seemed to backfire on them, and the moderators looked like nasty dimwits. I would take any of those candidates over Hillary the liar. She has lied repeatedly, and the press supports her no matter what. SHAME ON THEM!
Do you really not know who Rick Santelli is? Tea Party Organizer Original - Not exactly a liberal LOL
[ In Reply To ..]
Do you seriously not know that Rick Santelli is credited with starting the Tea Party movement? If you watch MSNBC's financial news, you see him ranting on in his Tea Party mode. I can't believe anyone would not know what. Get yourself informed and educated before making accusations you can't back up with facts.
YOU are the one not stating facts!! The three - named moderators are liberals!!!!!!!nm
[ In Reply To ..]
nm
Rick Santelli was one of the debate questioners and he is a GOP T-party originator - That is a fact
[ In Reply To ..]
But Republicans don't like facts, do they?
The moderators were definitely trying for that "gotcha" moment - Truthhurts
[ In Reply To ..]
Evidently, they didn't even study their own "questions." Harwood tried to nail Rubio on his tax plan but it backfired because Harwood had to make a correction on a tweet yet lied stating he didn't correct his statement while trying to do the "gotcha" with Rubio. Laughable moment.

The other moment was when the female moderator asked a question, was given an answer and she apologized for giving the wrong info...and it turned out she was right in her first "assumpton." Apologizing for being right was another laughable moment.

They were so zeroed in on trying to hurt the candidates that they were a complete failure. They seemed to become unglued the further into the debate they got. LOL
Yes, those Tea Party moderators were all out to get those Republicans - LOL They are so to be pitied
[ In Reply To ..]
Seriously. This is hard to hear without cracking up laughing. What victims they were. Oh my.
Please stop saying that!!! You are wrong!!! - The main three moderators were
[ In Reply To ..]
Carl Quintanilla, Becky Quick, and John Harwood ----the men are known liberals!! Becky just acted like an airhead and could not remember where she found info, so was probably given to her by the liberal guys! This was the worst questioning I have ever heard! ... it was embarrassing for the network! ...and I think they know it now!
As airheaded as they were, they bested the GOP candidates - Poor GOP victims were outdone and destroyed
[ In Reply To ..]
They were victims of those 4 people who were doing the questioning. Those horrible, awful, stupid people who just happened to prove that the candidates didn't know anything about the issues.

I would say, if they can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen - We need some mature adults in there instead of whi

[ In Reply To ..]
Where are the adults in the Republican party? These are whiney children

We needed mature adults asking questions! - Guess you don't recognize immaturity.nm

[ In Reply To ..]
nm
Is that supposed to be a meaningful comment? - nm
[ In Reply To ..]
nm

They gave chances for candidates to response seriously but nobody took the opportunity - Not much substance in that group

[ In Reply To ..]
The only one who even looked like he had the potential for being presidential over time was Kasich. He didn't say anything silly and didn't get drawn into the silliness of others, who each have major reasons why voters in the general election won't vote for them: crazy comments, anger issues, lack of knowledge and common sense, just plain scary, and just being rude people in general. There was no substance to anything any of them said. Ted Cruz tried, but his anger issues keep him from being a legitimate candidate.

How can they respond to non-issues? - Truthhurts

[ In Reply To ..]
The moderators were the silly ones. Trying to tear the candidates apart and trying to get them to fight among themselves. Well, Jeb fell for it. Guess he didn't learn anything since day 1 debate.

I do like Kasich and you are right. They're not gibing him a chance.

CHristie was angry that the moderators weren't asking serious questions. I don't blame him for that because he was right.

The only one I feel has lack of knowledge is Trump.

As for anger and rude, I didn't see that except to chide the moderators for being ignorant and not being serious. I'd be angry, too, if I spent 2 hours wanting to answer questions about my plans and don't get a chance because they won't allow it.

Chris Christie and Ted Cruz called them out on asking stupid - questions instead of real

[ In Reply To ..]
issues like debt, immigration, ISIS, etc.

Only 10-11M viewers...people losing interest - no interest in candidates for me

[ In Reply To ..]
There are no viable Republican candidates.

I agree with you that there are no viable Republican candidates - Sad but true

[ In Reply To ..]
These candidates are irreversibly flawed. It's like they took the worst possible Republicans they could find and told them to run. It's not working, folks. Please try harder. Come up with someone else before it's too late. Surely you could do better. But maybe not.

I had settled on Jeb as the lesser of the evils - maintain status quo

[ In Reply To ..]
Maybe Rubio, but, but, everything...more than Jeb's problems. At least Jeb is reasonable, not crazy like Trump, Carson, Cruz, Paul, Huckabee. Kasich maybe, but no electability either. As they say, the party LEFT ME.
Exactly. The party left me too and I had high hopes for 2 of them - But no they all went with the silly group
[ In Reply To ..]
I really thought Jeb would do better, but he failed. Cruz is just mean. Rubio can't manage his own affairs, Paul doesn't know which way is up, Huckabee says strange things and is too extreme, Christy will possibly end up in prison, Trump is a carnival barker, Carson is just plain weird, Kasich is actually pretty decent and intelligent, but the Republican party left him behind and he doesn't have a chance. There is nobody acceptable. The party has left and will soon not exist.
Nice name calling... yet you would vote for Hillary? - who deceives at every chance?
[ In Reply To ..]
You still believe in that fairy tale that the Dems will save the day and take care of the country? Hillary may go to prison or become president... it really is laughable, but also sad. As far as "acceptable", any of the Republican candidates are more acceptable than Hillary, who has now proven to be a liar more than once.
Where is this thing about going - to prison coming from?
[ In Reply To ..]
There is no reason for Hillary to go to prison. I honestly wish Fox News or whoever is spreading this garbage would stop putting that out there. They are misinforming their viewers.

Just because they think she is "lying" and a "beast" or what have you does NOT mean she is going to prison, it makes absolutely no sense.

Can anyone explain why they think she is supposedly going to prison? There is absolutely no truth in this one at all, so I just do not get where it is coming from.
It comes from The Haters. - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
If someone is a Democrat they hate that person because they are a Democrat so much and so hard that if they could make a law to make it illegal for Democrats to breathe, they would. They are a group I call The Haters. That's what they do. That's all they do. They are destroying the country.
You don't know a liar when you see it? - Guess not
[ In Reply To ..]
Hillary can be convicted of a felony in her email lies... if she is, she can get prison sentence... the TRUTH.. FBI still investigating..
Is that innuendo supposed to be an intelligent comment? - nm
[ In Reply To ..]
Just more hysteria.
Jeb, the establishment republican who votes with - democrats and is polling about 4%?
[ In Reply To ..]
Kasich? Funny!

Flawed? LOL LOL... speaking of flawed, - look at the horrible Dem selection !!

[ In Reply To ..]
Hillary... "the one".. with no viable plans, just the same old rhetoric and false promises, and someone who you never know is telling the truth or covering up for another false statement of hers. She is one scary lady, and hopefully the FBI will send her away before she can do more harm to the country..

Economics Debate Tonight--Wage Stagnation?Oct 28, 2015
I won't be able to watch--will be working.  Here are some things I would like to see debated: 1.  Wages have only gone up 100+ percent in the last 35 years and the cost of living has gone up 300+ percent.  How would you address the wage stagnation of the working class?   2.  How would you address our failing infrastructure, city water and sewer, highways and bridges? 3.  How would you address the high cost of college education? 4.  How would you addres ...

Economics Of "Tax Cuts"May 06, 2010
Goodbye Supply Side From the May 3, 2010, issue of NR. There are two schools of thought about the Reagan tax cuts. The conventional conservative view: They spurred investment, entrepreneurship, and real economic growth, helping to resuscitate the post-Carter economy, and, by doing so, they paid for themselves. The conventional liberal view: They were an ill-considered product of starve-the-beast ideology and produced crippling deficits, inaugurating a new era of fiscal irresponsibilit ...

My Take On The Debate. SmOct 14, 2015
I was struck last night by the huge difference in what we can infer about the nature of Bernie's and Hillary's thought processes while they were processing the challenging questions that Anderson Cooper threw out at them individually.
