Is anyone watching the GOP debate on CNN?

Posted: Feb 22, 2012

What are your thoughts about the questions and how the candidates are answering them?  Has anyone decided for sure who to vote for (if you're voting in the primaries or caucuses)?  I'm still undecided, so if you have decided, I would appreciate some input as to why you chose that candidate.

;

I am voting for the green party, Roseann Barr - sm

This is the only candidate that makes any sense!!!!

Has she for sure been nominated by them? - Zville MT

Last I heard she was definitely running, but didn't have the nomination yet. Never heard who else was running under this party, though, so I have no idea who her competition is.

Or, as a friend put it, "The Committee - alana

[ In Reply To ..]
to Re-Elect Barak Obama."

Any of them would be better than Obama. nm - Independent

So you haven't decided either? - Zville MT

Is there anyone you're leaning towards or someone you definitely won't vote for (other than Obama - lol)?
Fascinating that two people would vote your fairly innocuous post down. - me

I'm not watching the debate - Trigger Happy

The only thing I know 100% is that I will not vote for President Obama. In saying that, I would like to vote in the primaries but I'm still not happy with any one of our choices here. Mitt the flipper, IMO, isn't much different than Obama. Newt should be stuck with a fork cause he's done. I really like what Ron Paul says domestically but he cares the bejesus out of me with his foreign policy viewpoints. As for Santorum....I'm wishy washy about him too.

So a short answer to your question...no..I don't know who I'm gonna vote for in the primaries. I just know I won't vote for Obama come presidential election time.

Didn't watch the debate - sm

I am going to vote for Obama, but I am interested in which candidate on the republican side has the possibility of being president. I'm not party faithful and vote by who I feel will do the best job.

If I were a die-hard Republican and had to pick one, I would be unhappy with my choices. I realize one of the candidates has to be chosen, but I just see the two top guys as flip-flopping on the issues and more interested in gouging each other, as Obama has been accused of, and if I truly were against Obama for those reasons among others, I would have to be upset with the republicans also.

I have to say, I like Ron Paul. Don't agree with all of his policies (don't with Obama either) but he does seem like he has stuck with his beliefs through his career and has some good ideas.

I believe politics is about who has the most money and who does the best mud-slinging and that truly is a shame for all of us. We can blame Bush, we can blame Obama for the horrible shape our country is in, but it truly is due to the fact that politics is a name-calling, mud-slinging game and winning the game is the only thing that is important to any of them instead of trying to fix this country.

Voting for Ron Paul, and reasons why - wrkn4pnuts

I did not watch any of the debate, but made up my mind a long time ago that I am voting for Ron Paul. Check out his website: www.ronpaul2012.com (especially under "Issues," see "Plan to Restore America"). He's the only candidate who has asked that his pay as president be made comparable to the earnings of an average middle class American, at about $39K a year. He has a plan to balance the budget - drastic, yes, but drastic circumstances require drastic solutions! Anybody that can't see the U.S. is on the brink of complete economic disaster is hiding their head in the sand.

As an aside, have you noticed in the recent debates, how every candidate is given equal time to answer questions - except Ron Paul? The moderators are often noticeably rude to him. Pull up some YouTube videos. You'll see what I mean.

I believe both the main political parties are corrupt. They're in it for money and power and control. Interestingly (but not surprisingly) our sitting president has just come up with a multitude of ways to save our economy and improve things. Go figure, it's an election year! Why wasn't any of this considered when bailing out Wall Street and billion-dollar corporations was more important?

I think with the sorry state of our economy, people are finally starting to wake up and pay attention, to the fact that the powers that be are running our country into the ground, as well as the previous administrations. We the People need to be more active and involved in our government. It has become way too big and needs to be minimized and controlled.

Sorry, this was a little bit longer than I intended, but I get fired up about this stuff. I hope that you will too.

And if Ron Paul were president in the 1940s - Glenn Dreck

we would all probably be living under the rule of one of the descendants of Adolf Hitler.

You are entitled to your opinion - but I disagree.

Watching The Debate Yesterday On CSPAN, I Was A Bit Surprised/shockedMar 26, 2010
One of the debaters (can't remember his name but a pub) asked BARBARA SLAUGHTER if he could have 15 SECONDS to finish his sentence when his time ran out. She refused vehemently! She was also very nasty to someone else last week. Another pub wanted to introduce a bill and the grumblings started again from members. The gavel had to be wielded again to quiet the house. Sheila Jackson Lee stated "Since this bill was passed, lives HAVE BEEN SAVED". How? Nothing has gone into effect y ...

The first person to ask a question was Kerry Ladka. "Was Ladka satisfied with how the president responded? Simply no. “I really didn’t think he totally answered the question satisfactorily as far as I was concerned,” Ladka tells the Erik Wemple Blog. After the debate . . . "President Obama, though, wasn’t done with Kerry Ladka. My Take On The Debate. SmOct 14, 2015
I was struck last night by the huge difference in what we can infer about the nature of Bernie's and Hillary's thought processes while they were processing the challenging questions that Anderson Cooper threw out at them individually. Hillary's demeanor reminded me of one of those canned Miss America Pageant contestant types whom you can tell is so focused on searching her memory bank for a previously stored 'good answer' that the importance of the issue itself was tota ...

Diaper Debate...Sep 17, 2011
Okay, so here it is. I have a very good friend who is expecting. She is low income and has MA, WIC, food stamps, etc. She is slowly buying clothes, furniture, etc. a little at a time before baby arrives around May.  She knows about Goodwill, rummage sales, resale shops, and all that too.  She has other friends as well (who have had children) telling her which diapers are the best. She wants to start buying diapers now so she has a few packs/boxes to start with when the baby arrives. Sh ...

I'm So Tired Of The Tax Debate!May 14, 2010
Tax the rich more....tax the poor less, etc.  It is my opinion that if you tax the rich more, it won't help that much considering there are so many loopholes in the tax code that I'm sure the rich will find a way to get out of paying more taxes.  Why don't we just do a flat tax.  That will eliminate the loopholes.  Simple and easy...probably why they won't do it though.  They need something confusing so the crooks in the world can get out of paying ta ...

How To Debate The DonaldAug 03, 2015
This article is amusing. I would hope there is a lot of practice going on for other Republicans on how not to let him get under their skin. They should refuse to answer him directly (which I don't think they are supposed to anyway) and calmly present their perspective, no matter how wild his responses and answers are. If possible, they should ignore him and pretend he has not spoken at all. I particularly liked this reference-- "Other than a dart gun?," he said. "A tranquilizer gun ...

Debate Impressions? Sep 17, 2015
On TV this morning, Trump is complaining about the length of the debate.  Commentators are saying he appeared tired and "disappeared"  for about 40 minutes.  Kind of amusing coming from the "high energy" guy.  Do you think if he got the 2:00 am phone call he would say "call me back after 10 and I've had my coffee"? I think it is sort of insulting that he is complaining about standing for 3 hours.  Just think of all the Walmart workers on their feet all day, some wo ...

Need Opinions On An Ongoing Debate Between DH And MeSep 21, 2011
My DH and I have been having an ongoing argument about family obligations on the part of grown children.  We are so invested in our points of view that we sometimes get almost hostile and have to stop the conversation. We Need A New Topic To Discuss And DebateMay 08, 2011
On my mind has been the stealth helicoptor that was left behind in the raid that killed Osama Bin Laden. I think the young heroes on that raid just got a little too anxious on that one.
