Candy Crowley - after her debate performance
Posted: Oct 17, 2012
there's no question that she is partisan. I.e., her choice of questions that she chose, interjecting support for Obama, cutting Romney's time short, etc.
;
Waaah. The moderate's a meanie. Waaah. - She's not fair. Waaah, waaah, waaah.

Stop spinning long enough to realize the questions were appropriately representative of voter concerns. Too bad Romney can't effectively handle issues like immigration, women, Libya and his self-inflicted 47% problems. I highly doubt many voters will be blaming Candy Crowley for that.
Romney has women in BLINDERS - on this board

You can tell which candidate won by who is squealing UNFAIR the loudest
Pubs are the loudest winning AND losing. :) Those of us with - blinders bought and put them on ourselves. nm

Geez, that so sad - Dont think I would have admitted that
[ In Reply To ..]
So you're choosing to be narrow-minded? How sad :(
I didn't think "those of us" suggested narrowmindedness per se. - But take your point if you see one. A dem. nm

How else do you interpret putting blinders on yourself - Curious

Romney refused to answer a question on pay equity for women. - Obama pointed to his first act, signing the Lilly
[ In Reply To ..]
Ledbetter Act.
Romney didn't forget or mistake the question when he spent the entire time talking about how he hired more women at Bain. He's made clear in the past that he doesn't believe in outlawing pay discrimination against women.
And what good did the Ledbetter Act do for women? - Liberty
[ In Reply To ..]
More women are in poverty now than when Obama took office. You have to face the facts sometime - Obama's policies aren't working. Stand up for your fellow females instead of contributing to a prez that doesn't care for women.
Thank you.
Not much, according to Ryan, lying about why he voted - against the Lilly Ledbetter Act. :) NM

He also voted against the Paycheck Fairness Act, - filibustered by GOP Senate
[ In Reply To ..]
after it passed the House. Is this another part of his running mate's record Mr. Born-Again Moderate Romney is genuinely trying to reject, or is he covering for Mr. Severely Conservative Romney from circa 2012 primary days?
That's how close you listened to the debate. - backwards typist
[ In Reply To ..]
Romney made the binder statement about women WHEN HE WAS GOVERNOR, not when he was at Bain.
I never heard a thing that he doesn't believe in outlawing pay discrimination against women. Do you have something where I can check that out?
Thanks.
Romney is in favor of flexible work time - so a woman can get home in time to make dinner
[ In Reply To ..]
did he really say that or did my ears deceive me?
Worse is Obama refusing to answer on security - request refused in Libya! Face it,, O lies ! nm

The investigation is underway. Any further official comment - would be premature and inappropriate.

This is not rocket science. Until the FACTS are all in, there will be no further statement. That's the answer, like it or not.
Crowley Interrupts Romney 28 Times, - Obama Just 9
[ In Reply To ..]
"Candy Crowley, who was suspected of being one more liberal moderator in the tank for Barack Obama, was more than just in the tank for him; she dove in and sucked all the water out for him so he could pretend he walked on water.
"In the first presidential debate, Jim Lehrer, no slouch at shilling for the Democratic Party, interrupted Mitt Romney 15 times and Barack Obama only five.
"Crowley made Lehrer look like an amateur. She interrupted Obama nine times, (although four of those were when he wouldn’t respect the time limit when discussing assault weapons; he went over his time limit all night long), but when it came to Mitt Romney, she was utterly beyond the pale."
--William Bigelow
I knew it was lopsided, - sm

Come on, both debates Romney kept interrupting, and - Lehrer's method didn't work. NM

Romney had to get any point across. HE was - always interrupted. Obama is tanking the USA.nm
[ In Reply To ..]
nm
Well then he must have violated the debate rules - 3 times more often than Obama did.
[ In Reply To ..]
The moderator is there to try to keep the candidates on topic and to confine their answers within the allotted time segments. It was clear from the get-go Romney intended to treat Ms Crowley with the same disregard he did Mr Lehrer by making up the rules as he went along, interrupting, running the clock and basically steamrollering over her.
Didn't work out very well for him this time around, huh?
According to CNN's timekeeping, - sm

Obama got 44:04 minutes of speaking time, while Romney got 40:50.

So in 100 minutes, she dropped the 3:54-minute ball. - Get a rope and hang her high.
[ In Reply To ..]
It's all cruel Candy's fault Romney got flustered and his debate strategy disintegrated midstream. NOT!
Romney beat Obama in number of words spoken though. - nm

That logic only works - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
if the moderator is objective. Saying, "Well then he must have..." is taking quite a leap.
Oh, please. She did her job and did it well. - Get over it.
[ In Reply To ..]
These folks are human, not deities. She was more than fair to both of them.
"These folks are human, not deities." - "Get over it"
[ In Reply To ..]
I wager you wouldn't say that if the moderator was a conservative.
FYI, I pay no attention to the nonissue of political affiliation - of debate moderators.
[ In Reply To ..]
Why? Because both candidates, incumbent and challengers alike, are vying for a job where they have to have the capacity and skills to deal with the furthest extremes of bipartisan viewpoints from both ends. If the contenders can't handle a debate moderator properly and effectively, they most certainly are not qualified deal with Congress or lead the country.
Not a betting person, but that is a wager you would have lost.
I am a Democrat and thought she did a terrible job. - -put herself in the debate and admitting wrong.nm

Romney put her in by walking up and talking the point to her, as if - she was with him, and she had the data there.nm

How To Debate The DonaldAug 03, 2015This article is amusing.
I would hope there is a lot of practice going on for other Republicans on how not to let him get under their skin. They should refuse to answer him directly (which I don't think they are supposed to anyway) and calmly present their perspective, no matter how wild his responses and answers are. If possible, they should ignore him and pretend he has not spoken at all.
