when Romney tossed him easy ones, President Obama either didn't answer or was genuinely if superficially polite in his answers. He wasn't in a fugue or wondering where he could get a late gift for Michelle, he was obviously choosing not to engage.
Someone said that between the time his debate prep people left him, reportedly expecting a very different performance, and the debate he met with an inner circle. In this story, presumably a change of strategy must have been decided on. This mixture of what MIGHT be genuine inside information and speculation is the closest I've gotten to the obvious--they were playing a game nobody's identified yet for the public.
Also, another source reported that President Obama didn't realize just how badly it'd come off until afterward, an explanation for those determinedly pursed lips in the face of all those lies and easy lobs begging for a smash return and, yes, for the courteous restraint.
How much more courteous could he be, after all, than telling Mitt, "Oh, please, this one's yours."
Well, Obama cannot defend his pathetic record, now that he - has one... maybe he realizes it. nm

....that this is a little bit of what's wrong with some Americans in this age of message boards and anonymous comments posted on chat forums. It's sooooo easy to say things that (I hope) you would never say to the president's face....and please don't try my intelligence by saying, "Oh, you bet I would!!" You can claim that all you want, but I simply don't believe it.
During the George W. Bush administration, I, too, thought President Bush was an "idiot." The difference is that I never, ever, EVER posted anything calling him such on an anonymous message board. In fact, whenever I posted anything in a political discussion forum, I made a point to ONLY refer to him as "President Bush." Never just "Bush," never "Shrub," never "Dubya," and never, ever "Idiot." My parents may have been "bad, immoral Democrats," but I think that at least they raised me right.
Thank you for your post. Your parents did appatently did a great job. - IAMT

I am absolutely disgusted by the above posts and disgusted with the whole campaign. So much money being spent especially in this economy, issues not being addressed, and more negativism than ever before.
I also might mention most of us are intelligent and can make our own informed decisions without the posts trying to convince us of what should be a very personal and researched decision on our choice in voting.
I miss the good ol' days... - SK1

Obama Defends Plan To Act On Immigration: CBS InterviewNov 10, 2014WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President Barack Obama defended his plan to use executive powers to implement some immigration reforms, saying in an interview broadcast on Sunday he had waited long enough for Congress to act. Obama told congressional leaders on Friday he would try to ease some restrictions on undocumented immigrants, despite warnings from Republican leaders that such actions would "poison the well" or would be "a red flag in front of a bull."

Obama Defends 2006 Vote Against The Debt Ceiling. SMOct 16, 2013Washington (CNN) – There is no daylight between his vote against raising the debt ceiling as a senator in 2006 and his call for Congress to increase the limit in the next 10 days, President Barack Obama said Wednesday.
“Nothing has changed,” Obama told WFLA in an interview. “I voted against a debt ceiling increase at the time because I had some concerns about what President (George W.) Bush was doing.”

My Take On The Debate. SmOct 14, 2015I was struck last night by the huge difference in what we can infer about the nature of Bernie's and Hillary's thought processes while they were processing the challenging questions that Anderson Cooper threw out at them individually.

How To Debate The DonaldAug 03, 2015This article is amusing.
I would hope there is a lot of practice going on for other Republicans on how not to let him get under their skin. They should refuse to answer him directly (which I don't think they are supposed to anyway) and calmly present their perspective, no matter how wild his responses and answers are. If possible, they should ignore him and pretend he has not spoken at all.
