Another cop shooting 18-year-old in St. Louis

There isn't a whole lot of trust on this.

Looks like an off duty cop, in an unmarked car, but wearing a uniform, saw 3 young adults on a corner. One took off running, officer made a U-turn and chased him, eventually on foot. Police say kid turned and shot at officer 3 times, officer shot 17 times.

Others say kid was not armed. The CNN article says a gun was found at the scene. I am sure there is question as to whether that was the kid's gun or if it was provided (as we have all watched plenty of TV?? who knows).

Mom says he was unarmed.

Meanwhile, St. Louis continues to be the focus of unrest. There were ugly protests at the Cardinals baseball game during the play-off bid. I am sure there will be more with the division title and would bet on it if they make the series. Frankly, if you are the protestors, it only makes sense.

There were protests planned for October and now there is more fuel on the fire.

why cop found it necessary to make these kids his business. I don't believe there was any reason to chase them, just because they ran. This is all part of the symptoms of racism in the St. Louis area and many communities. They are suspicious if they run. They run because they are cops and they don't want to be hassled, whether armed or not.

I do think at the time he started chasing the kid, all he had in his hand was a sandwich.

and now living just outside Ferguson,MO, I don't know what to believe. The young man was known to have problems with law enforcement, and I think he was supposed to be on house arrest. Tht not withstanding does not give the police the right to be judge and jury. If he did in fact exchange gunfire with the police, there is no defending that. St Louis police have a history of not being honest so I just don't know. By the way the office fired 18 times but hit the young man 6 or 7, I think. The fatal shot was one in the head which exited through the cheek.

Anyone here familiar with the St. Louis/Webster Groves area? My daughter has been accepted to college there and we will be moving this summer. How tragic at least 15 day in a school shooting at a community college in Oregon. When will it stop and how do WE make it stop.
