Just reading about Australia. They have on the average - per year 30 deaths by shootings
[ In Reply To ..]I am so put out by people who shout about their 2nd amendment while all these shootings go on and on. People killed, light the candles, sing sad songs, remember, talk in congress, nothing done. This is absolutely crazy. Australia did have mass killings in the past but they did something about theirs. It is a shame that our country continues with this same theme.
So move to Australia, or arm yourself. - do not infringe

The Founding Fathers could not have foreseen the day when we could arm ourselves with revolvers, pistols, rifles, double-barreled shotguns, automatic weapons, and God knows what else against thugs, criminals, mercenaries, crazy people, and foreign and domestic terrorists who have access to the very same weapons we do and probably more. We have the right to defend ourselves. We have the right to own weapons. But there has to be a limit on the amount/kind we legally can own in order to cut down on gun crime in this country. One of my neighbors was deer hunting with an automatic weapon. I was stunned and horrified, and when I asked him why, he said, "Because it takes too long to reload." And he's one of the good guys. Enough is enough.

I don't believe anything - not laws, ethnic profiling, closed borders, or anything else - will stop violence in the world, because it's hard-wired into human DNA. Given the right set of circumstances, I believe any person can snap and do something terrible. The best thing we can hope for at present is to throw as many obstacles in the way of the crazies as possible, in order to at least slow down the violence, but I don't think we're ever going to eliminate it. After passing strict control in Australia their murder rate was cut 50% and stayed there. Other countries, Finland, Norway have also passed laws and cut murder rates.
