If you have to restore something, it usually means to bring it back. Does this mean Paul Ryan thinks the U.S. is missing "the greatness"? I thought that was Republican heresy--to view the U.S. as anything other than exceptional, no matter what!

If far-right Republicans REALLY wanted to help this country, they wouldn't have been obstructing a lot of things in these past 3-1/2 years that could have helped the U.S. achieve even more greatness. The people spoke when Barack Obama was elected in 2008, and then the GOP members of Congress have done their level best to knock down every single one of the things people were wanting to see Obama be able to do.

When the majority of Americans vote for a particular president, at the very least, that person of majority choice should be allowed to put into place the changes that people voted for having. I guess the GOP was afraid that if Obama was allowed to achieve, it might have made him look even better, and then they would fail at their expressed mission to make him a 1-term president. That mission has taken priority over helping the lower and middle class who are really suffering, in my opinion.

We'll see soon enough if the majority of Americans want the changes that Romney and Ryan are wanting to put into place. Heaven help us all.

I don't usually comment on political posts like this...BUT..you do realize I hope, that mr. obama had 2 years of a majority and unobstructed challenge to anything he wanted passed. If the economy and the American people were his #1 aggenda, why have we had right at 4 years of unemployment at 8%. No, he didn't make the economic mess we find ourselves in, however, he certainly has no clue how to solve it either.

Mr. Obama's "platform" this time seems to be taxing that elusive 2% of wealthy Americans. Are you also aware of the expenditures he has enacted in his tenure, if/when that tax proposal is enacted that will pay for exactly EIGHT days of the national budget?? It does NOTHING to cut the deficit, nor has mr obama stated any plans to cut the deficit even though he has added 5 TRILLION to it during his tenure.

As well, I hope you are also aware that right at ONE THIRD of the American population now receives some type of government entitlement assistance and these numbers do NOT include medicare or social security. This is a higher percentage than in the last 40 years.

Its time to quit drinking the Kool-Aid, our country is sinking and sinking fast. Mr. obama has had 4 years to turn it around and failed dismally. Mr. Romney may not have all the answers but Mr. Obama CERTAINLY doesn't have a clue how to turn this economy around.

from your post is where you say that Obama "didn't make the economic mess we find ourselves in..." That's absolutely what he's done. What he "inherited" was miniscule in comparison to what Pres. O. has done to our economy. He took a bad trend and ran with it. The libs have complained from day one about what Pres. O has inherited from Pres. Bush. Pres. Romney will be inheriting a much worse debt problem and economic chaos, the greatest since the Great Depression and beyond, but I have no doubt he will know how to fix it.

First, when I say you in my post, I'm not talking about you personally. I don't know you, but I will use the word you in a generic form.

I don't know what you read as you didn't post a link to the article or video. What I do know is this. I like Paul Ryan. I have heard him speak before. I've heard his speech after the disastrous SOU speeches The O gives. I've heard him talk at other times about the budget and other issues. I have full confidence he is the right person for the job. What Romney lacks in Ryan makes up for. I find Mr. Paul Ryan to be a man of integrity. Someone who cares deeply for our country and who understands budgets and what the country needs. Not saying I don't think Romney does, I'm just talking about Mr. Ryan right now.

I don't know if Mr. Ryan thinks that the US is "missing the greatness" as I am unsure what article you read, but most Americans feel that. The country used to be a great country, but the uber-left/communists are running it right now. Yes, yes, I know, there are far right too (the neocons) and they also have not done that great of a job, but it went from bad to worse. Three years later and nothing has been done to improve the country.

You can scream and shout "obstructionist" all you want, but obstructionists are also in the liberal and communists too. There is nothing that the republicans have done that the democrats haven't done the same. What you accuse republicans of you won't admit democrats have done the same thing.

You see, the politicians in office are adults. They don't think like children with the "oh he's black so we are not going to let him do anything good". Obama's failures are all his own doing. He and Biden have put this country on a fast downhill track to ruins. Tired of hearing the same old broken record of republicans saying they want to make the democrat president a one term president because that is the same thing democrats said when Bush was elected the first time and other republican presidents. You see, that's the way it goes. When a democrat gets in republicans want a one term and when republicans get voted democrats want them to be one term. Just the nature of politics.

Also I need to point out what Old and Tired said in her post. That Obama had 2 years of a majority and unobstructed challenge to anything he wanted and yet nothing.

Also, when democrats in his own party vote against his failed plans then you know you have a failed president.

We'll see soon enough who the people who run the country have decided to put in place. If its another 4 years of more destruction, more racism, more blame and game, more "change" (i.e. into communism) more unemployment, more jobs shipped overseas, etc - heaven help us all.

The democrats have failed at their job. It's time to let the republican fix it.

....because I took the quote directly from a transcript of Ryan's speech (not from an article). I've seen the quote reported in a few places on the internet without "the dreams" in the sentence, and I wanted to be sure I didn't misquote him.
