"America is gone as we know it." The hyperbole is very sad to read. Even though you didn't vote for Obama, don't you WANT our country to start healing? We won't heal if citizens don't start to break the overly-dramatized sense of gloom and doom.

I'm hoping that things go well, and our country continues to improve and thrive. Is that what you're hoping for, too?

Here's more hyperbole: "USA may never recover from this endless hole." :-( Really?? That's a sad attitude, to me. I think the USA and her people are good enough to do better than "never recover."

Take the comment in the thread below that we are now Europe. The irony of this is that one of the things I feared about Romney was his plan to let the states decide everything. Every law is decided among the states. FEMA goes to the states for instance. I saw it as a very European Union-esque system.

I don't care that I'm in California and it's New Jersey underwater. They're American and so I want my state to send whatever aid it can to them. I do this willingly despite the fact that it may inadvertently rescue the cast of Jersey Shore. I love my state, but I love my country more.

I see this as one more chance for patriotism, which sometimes involves paying taxes and taking care of everyone, regardless of race, gender, occupation or party.

Now us Democrats and Republicans have to come together for that most solemn, truly bipartisan and difficult quadrennial task of keeping the elected president from ruining the country.

blatant attempts at voter suppression in FLorida and Ohio, democracy won out. I am very proud of all the citizens who struggled through 6-8 hour long lines and voted.

They didn't "struggle" through lines. They waited in line - no need for the drama queen routine.

Standing in line for a long time is not voter suppression. Voter suppression is when you get turned away and told you can't vote because you're wearing a t-shirt that supports Romney (or so they thought), but they allow articles of clothing with the Obama logo on it. That is voter suppression. Dumping the military's votes. That is voter suppression. Telling voters they could vote on Wednesday that is voter suppression. Not standing in line being allowed to vote.

Democracy did not win out. Cheating won out.

the poll tax. It was done deliberately to discourage people from voting. They deliberately cut early voting days/hours, thus long lines. They did their best to purge the voting rolls, targeting those they believed to be democratic. It was completely unnecessary. Unfortunately, it backfired on them. People got really mad at what they were attempting to do and they stood in those lines for up to 8 hours. In my state, which is not a battleground state, I was in and out in 20 minutes. Notice this only happened in those 2 republican led battleground states. Coincidence? I don't think so. It doesn't matter now because they failed and Obama won. Too bad that old white voters are being phased out for the repubs. They need a new plan.

because enough of the populace wanted to reelect President Obama to offset the losses. A closer election would have been stolen.

I'm proud of those people who were outraged at the attempts to disenfranchise them and settled in for as long as it would take to do the job.

Now, we really have to reform our system. We've known this for a long time. Hopefully continuation of this activism by those groups targeted for disenfranchisement will make the difference this time.
