1. SEIU. 2.2 million members of employed fellow Americans. Services workers still qualify for citizenship, do they not? It's probably the international component of that acronym that sends shivers up and down your spine. Nothing like a competitive playing field when it comes to global funding potential.
2. AFL CIO. 12.2 million members include airline pilots, transit workers, govt employees, musicians, school administrators, teachers, TV and radio artists, postal workers, actors and artists, bakers, tobacco workers, grain millers, railroad workers, school employees, communications workers, flight attendants, farm laborers, professional athletes, sculptors, theatrical stage workers, iron workers, fire fighters, AC workers, machinists, aerospace workers, electrical workers, professional and technical engineers, longshoremen, print workers, brick layers, operations engineers, painters, police associations, marine engineers, air traffic controllers, letter carriers, mail handlers, officer workers, plasterers, cement masons, seafarers, sheet metal workers, transport communications workers, journeymen and apprentices, pipe fitters, plumbers, auto workers, miners, steel, paper, forestry, rubber, manufacturing, energy and industrial service workers, roofers, utility workers and writers. A cross-section of your middle-class fellow Americans. Scary stuff.
3. Green for All. Jobs creation through responsible environmental stewardship. Scary stuffy.
4. NAACP. Half a million members of an immensely successful organization working over the past 101 years for the advancement of political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights of all persons and to eliminate racial hatred and racial discrimination for all nonwhites. Of note is the inclusive all persons phrase, which over the years has come to mean women, immigrants, gays, the disabled, and all other groups who have been the targets of structural and institutional discriminatory practices for more than a century. REALLY scary stuff.
5. La Raza. Similar in function to NAACP, with specific focus on Hispanic (fellow) Americans. Scary stuff.
6. Rainbow PUSH. Thirty years spent establishing, defending and protecting civil rights by mitigation of poverty through enhanced economic and educational opportunities. Global initiatives include promoting peace and justice. My favorite part is giving voice to the voiceless. EGAD. Not that! Scary stuff.
7. Sojourners. Christian Evangelicals working for (gasp!) social justice through national politics with focus on poverty in urban areas. Opponents of war, corporate excess, exploitation of Third World countries, hunger and ABORTION. Cant have any of that. Scary stuff, except maybe the abortion thing, huh?
8. United Auto Workers. Bet those folks have a lot to contribute to this election cycle. More than likely favorable reviews on industry bailout. Scary stuff.
9. United States Students Association. Now there's a scary bunch if ever there was one. Kids trying to further their education. Future leaders of tomorrow. High stakes holders. Vocal.
10. Communication Workers of America. Yet another organization of workers keeping us connected to each other in all sorts of ways. Wonder what hidden agendas they have lurking up their sleeves? Scary stuff.
11. Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights. You just don't know the value of civil and human rights until you have gone without. Over 200 national organizations, including some of the more suspicious among them, such as the AARP, college fraternities and sororities, churches, women's groups, nurses, the blind, teachers, disability advocates, health organizations, the homeless, PARALYZED VETERANS, and the YMCA. Threatening collection of folks to be sure. Scary stuff.
12. The Center for Community Change. Fighting poverty and working for neighborhood and community development and unity. Scary stuff.
American Federation of Teachers. Seriously? Teachers scare you?
13. International ANSWER (It's a communist group...that gets a barely true on the truthometer). Guess what ANSWER stands for? Act Now to Stop War and End Racism. If communists can do that, more power to them. Fact is it's a coalition initially formed by Ramsey Clark that embraces global participation, including communist and socialist groups, that are anti-imperialist (as in empire is so 19th and early 20th century) in the sense that they oppose UNequal territorial, economic and cultural relationships. Working together across political, cultural and religious affiliations toward a common cause. REALLY scary stuff.
14. The Chicago Democratic Socialists of America. Arm of Socialist Party USA and historical heir to its predecessor, The Socialist Party of America, which traces its roots back to early American utopian communities, such as new Harmony, established in 1825. Socialists have serviced as mayors, in state legislatures and in the house. Bernie Sanders is a current sitting self-identified socialist senator. Here's an eye opener for ya. A 2009 Rasmussen poll shows that only 53% thinks capitalism is better than socialism. Of adults under 30, 37% prefer capitalism and 33% prefer socialism, with 30% undecided. Really scary stuff, but legitimate participants in the political process all the same.

This is America, putting its best foot forward, with an all-inclusive convergence of diverse groups coming together to promote policies that address what they believe are in their best interests and to participate in democratic process in the run-up to election day. Scary, scary, scary stuff.

So you post some obscure link to the Blaze website, which doesn't even bother with an "about us" tab reference, features a get-Glenn-Beck-rich-quick Goldline scheme banner plastered all over the top, a FreedomWorks anti-Obama petition on the side, and an ad for Bill-Os Pinheads and Patriots segment. Then you pit hope against hope that folks will simply accept the falsehood behind the headline and your exaggerated subject line and not grock the content of the video. Yellow journalism at its finest.

Given the context of the "have to and want to" answer in the interview, particularly the comments that followed directly afterwards, anyone who speaks English as their first language can understand that Mr. Floyd is talking about. Union members who are voluntarily going to the rally are motivated by a 15% to 20% drop in income over the past 15 years, benefits loss and pension cuts; in other words, benchmark middle-class dilemmas to be addressed at the rally.

The meaning of "have to" in this passage conveys a sense of urgency in terms of economic loss and desire for recovery, and not the implicit and misleading "slave labor" reference in the headline, nor the "forcing people to attend the rally" hyperbole you used in your subject line.

That fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants reporting may work with Fox news follow-the-leader mentality, but back here in the real world, it is transparent as the day is long. Back to the drawing board.

Nothing was said about union money being used - for transport expenses either. sm

Fact or just another one of your fabrications? Please provide a link to a reputable source. The other post did a nice job of debunking the notion of forced attendance. Failing to post that link will serve well to decimate this other dubious claim of yours.

I have been politically active since the the dawn of time and have attended countless Washington rallies. This means I have involved myself with fund raising events with the expessed intent of financing transportation and lodging expenses for participants. On 3 separate occasions, one group flew me from Texas to DC and paid for my room in a nearby hotel, whereby the only money I needed was for my meals. Without that assistance, I would not have been able to attend. This is done all the time, is not at all unusual, and in no way involves force.

That said, I would still be interested in seeing that source link to ascertain the veracity of your so-far unsubstantiated claim. One way or the other, no big scandal looms.

Wow, what an inspiration they are! They took time out from their busy practices to rally in Washington. This is from late last year. At bottom of page is a COMMENT section containing comments (many of which are recent) from lots of other docs and nurses who couldn't make it to the rally.
