Bill Ayers Admits For Second Time He Wrote Obama's 'Dreams From My Father'

For the second time in less than eighteen months, domestic terrorist Bill Ayers admitted he wrote Barack Obama's book "Dreams From My Father."

This time, it was recorded on videotape as he was speaking last Thursday at Montclair State University (video follows with partial transcript and commentary):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=OfIZDYm0a54

UNKNOWN QUESTIONER: Time magazine columnist Joe Klein wrote that President Obama’s book “Dreams From My Father” quote “may be the best written memoir ever produced by an American politician.”

BILL AYERS: I agree with that.

QUESTIONER: What is your opinion of Barack Obama’s style as a writer?

AYERS: I think the first book is very good. The second one was more of a political hack book, but the first book’s quite good.

QUESTIONER: Right, and also, you mentioned about the Pentagon and…

AYERS: Did you know I wrote it?

QUESTIONER: What’s that?

AYERS: I wrote “Dreams From My Father.”

CROWD: We know that.

QUESTIONER: You wrote that?

AYERS: Yeah, and if you could help me prove it, I’ll split the royalties with you.

[Laughter]

Oddly, this was not the first time Ayers made such a claim. Backyard Conservative reported October 4, 2009, after meeting Ayers at Reagan National Airport in Washington, D.C.:

Then, unprompted he said--I wrote Dreams From My Father. I said, oh, so you admit it. He said--Michelle asked me to. I looked at him. He seemed eager. He's about my height, short. He went on to say--and if you can prove it, we can split the royalties. So I said, stop pulling my leg. Horrible thought. But he came again--I really wrote it, the wording was similar. I said I believe you probably heavily edited it. He said--I wrote it. I said--why would I believe you, you're a liar.

He had no answer to that. Just looked at me. Then he turned and walked off, and said again his bit about my proving it and splitting the proceeds.

Now, less than eighteen months later, he's said this again in front of an audience with a camera taping the whole thing.

As Gateway Pundit noted moments ago:

Imagine the media onslaught upon discovering that a former unrepentant radical terrorist repeatedly admitted on video he wrote George Bush’s first book.  We would never hear the end of it. Of course they play by different rules when it comes to Obama. This will get the usual “nothing to see here, move along” from the MSM.

Indeed. It seems quite unlikely this will get much attention anywhere other than conservative blogs and Fox News.

After all, why would it be at all newsworthy that the President's first book was written by a domestic terrorist? These same folks didn't care about Obama's association with Ayers, Bernadine Dohrn, and Jeremiah Wright when he was on the campaign trail.

Why should they care now?

The guy was being sarcastic - "Help him prove it and he will share the royalties

[ In Reply To ..]
That was a joke, referring to the fact that people had claimed he had written it, as in, "Didn't you know I wrote that?" "Help me prove it and I'll split the royalties."

He wishes he had those royalties, I'm sure.

I have to disagree....you can tell he is ticked - Indy

with Obama...he didn't smile and there was no laughter when he said the second book was a political hack book, only the first one was good (because he wrote it).

That is my opinion based on what he said, and the guy taking the video who was there says it wasn't sarcasm either.

Guess he didn't like being used.

You're kidding, right? - mbmt

[ In Reply To ..]
It is obvious from this video that Bill Ayers is just joking around about writing Obama's book. Ayers didn't actually write the book...geez!!! You can spin it whichever way you want to, but there is no doubt that he is just being sarcastic.
Not kidding at all. - Indy
[ In Reply To ..]
he was not smiling and no one laughed when he called Obama's second book "a political hack" book. That is not, in case you are wondering, a compliment.

It may be "obvious" to you, and there is "no doubt" where you are concerned, but I beg to differ. That is still allowed in this country, isn't it?
Here's another person who saw it as an obvious sarcastic comment - like oh right you know I wrote that book and wish
[ In Reply To ..]
You do have to understand nuance and know when someone is being real or making a joke. He is tired of hearing that tired old story and was reacting to it by saying, oh yeah, as you no doubt have heard, I wrote that book. Just wish I had been paid for it. He might as well have been rolling his eyes, his real message was so obvious.
How do you explain the "political hack" - comment with no humor
[ In Reply To ..]
at all...and "nuanced" is never a word I would use to describe Bill Ayers. LOL.
I guess - icedT
[ In Reply To ..]
You are certainly free to defend this home-grown terrorist as much as want, but please do some serious research on him and his style. Read his 2001 memoir called "Fugitive Days" to get a sense of his style and compare. Amazing coincidence.

Second, have you seen any writings of Obama? If you have them, can you send me the links? Seriously, I've been unable to find anything he wrote of substance like this book.
I think Ayers and a lot of the hard left are - really disappointed in
[ In Reply To ..]
Obama (the terms "cave in" and "wussy" come to mind, used by his own party). You can tell Ayers thinks he is a sellout too. That "sarcasm" others see looks like disdain to me. He, after all, called the President a political hack. I think that pretty much says it all.

I will be kind of surprised if the hard left even lets him run for a second term. They are SO disenchanted, and things just keep cropping up...the gun running thing to name just one.

Can you imagine how it would be played in the media if a Republican was in the White House?

Has it even been MENTIONED on MSNBC? ;-)
Just keep saying that to yourself. If you say it enough times - you will start beliving it
[ In Reply To ..]
That's a technique Fox news uses, so you can spend your time watching it and get the same results. You will believe what you want to believe. It works!
Well, at least they report ALL the news. - That you obviously are not
[ In Reply To ..]
interested in hearing.

I don't think they have been caught presenting forged documents as genuine yet (thank you CBS). I don't think their commentators are getting tingles up their legs either. Or maybe they just don't feel the need to say so on live television.

LOL.
I believe you are mistaken about that. They have been involved in scandals - but they probably avoided mentioning them on air
[ In Reply To ..]
I can't even name the number of times they have been caught being inaccurate and false.

There are some people, like Shepard Smith, that I enjoy watching. I had others that I really enjoyed, but they dropped off one by one as they were proven to have embellished, falsely promoted, etc.

They are the Republican party. When I am in the mood to see what the Republican party is doing, I tune in and watch Fox. I also watch Shepard Smith, because so far he has been doing well.
You could name just a few, please, of the - times they have been
[ In Reply To ..]
inaccurate and false. I am not talking about the talk show-type commentators...I am talking about the regular news people, like say, Dan Rather of CBS. The one who brought forth the forged documents. Please name one Fox news anchor who has been even CHARGED with anything remotely close to that.

At least acknowledge that it occurs on other outlets as well. Then I will believe you really care about truth in journalism.
I'll acknowledge that it does occur elsewhere as well - see message
[ In Reply To ..]
Fox is just known for getting their talking points handed out and everyone is supposed to follow those. Sure, others have their scandals occasionally, but it isn't an occasional thing with Fox. It's their main thing. Is that bad? People differ about whether it is or not. Certainly people who WANT to believe what they are saying enjoy hearing it said there with authority.
I watch it all; and I just don't seem to see - what you are describing.
[ In Reply To ..]
"Fox is just known for getting their talking points handed to them.." I recall there was a brief story about that that died pretty quickly. Certainly nothing to indicate "Fox is just known." As to talking points...you can turn on NBC, CBS, CNN, and on any story about Republicans, conservatives, tea party, et al, you would think you were listening to parrots. Do people think we really don't notice that? And another thing I have noticed...over 90% of the time Fox will have the opposing view presented. I RARELY see that on the other outlets.

How can you really know what to believe if you don't listen to both sides? I do. I don't take ANYHTHING I hear ANYWHERE at face value anymore...up to and including this board. I have found fewer out and out lies on Fox than I have found elsewhere. I didn't plan on it...just the way it turned out.

And the fact remains, if I wanted to know the whole story on the gun running thing, I would NEVER have gotten it from any of the other outlets who are curiously unconcerned about what I consider to be a major issue.

Would that be the case if it was a Republican administration? I think NOT. And THAT is why I have to say, Fox comes out ahead. They report the bad stuff on Republicans too. If you watched them enough you would realize that.
Personally, I watch all of them and certain things are clear - SE
[ In Reply To ..]
Fox is fully and completely a Republican source of information. It has never been anything else.

I also watch MSNBC. They are sometimes just unacceptable. Just as I have written off some of the shows on FOX, I've written off several on MSNBC.

CNN isn't as political overall, but it also has its moments.

FOX is more interesting because they make things up as they go along. It's never boring. You can't depend on it being truthful, but it also doesn't put you to sleep. I know that several times I heard something reported on FOX and called family members to tell them about it, only to find out that it didn't happen. Now they ask me first where I heard it. It's exciting though, so I watch it.
We will agree to disagree, as I see the other - media outlets as you see Fox...
[ In Reply To ..]
shills for the DNC. They have never been anything else. They don't even try to hide it or even bring on opposing views (as Fox does). So I don't hardly see how you can point out the splinters in the eye of Fox and ignore the timbers in the others.

To each his own I suppose.

Thanks for the discussion!

Kinda like his birth certificate. LOL. Priceless.
I have seen copies of his birth certificate both online and on TV - It has been released but Birthers refuse to "see"
[ In Reply To ..]
The birth certificate does exist and has been shown publically. Obama released it years ago. Birthers don't accept that. I don't accept Birthers. LOL.
Yes...well...it is the original birth certificate, - not the COLB...that
[ In Reply To ..]
he refuses to produce. Nice attempt at deflection, but ran afoul of the truth just a bit. I don't know if he has one or not, but one is left to wonder if he does have a legal original birth certificate why he does not just produce it and has spent a lot of money not to have to. That just makes no sense to me. And the derogatory term "birthers" does not reflect well if you want to be taken seriously. By the way, one of the reasons it bothers me is that for me to get a driver's license in Pennsylvania I had to produce a certified copy of my ORIGINAL birth certificate. They would not take a COLB. He gets to be President without one, I could not get a driver's license without one. Something is very wrong with that picture.

So...you are misinformed. What was on line was a COLB. What people have asked for is his original hospital birth certificate. What you don't accept is the truth...call it "birthers" if you like.

And you skirted around his Columbia thesis. Yes, they say it existed once, but no one can seem to find it.

Odd how that keeps happening to the poor man. LOL.
The one I saw IS a certified copy of an actual birth certificate - nm
[ In Reply To ..]
Birthers are proud of what they believe, so they should be proud of the term that describes them.
No you did not, you saw a certificate of live - birth...a COLB. The
[ In Reply To ..]
one the Obama campaign published. Even THEY have had to admit it is not the original hospital birth certificate (signed by the doctor at delivery, etc.). Look at yours, I am sure you have a copy or your original.

With all due respect...they have never supplied or published his hospital birth certificate. If you can find "the one you saw" please post it. you can't, because it does not exist.
Wrong!!!! We have never been shown the original. - That is a fact! You are incorrect.nm

[ In Reply To ..]
them at every opportunity...lol.

The only thing that has been released is a COLB, not the original hospital birth certificate like I had to produce to get a driver's license. The state of PA wouldn't take a COLB for a driver's license, but you accepted it for President of the US. Totally your right of course, but stop spreading the misinformation that the birth certificate was released, because it was not. A great deal of money was spent to prevent that from happening. At this point, it really doesn't matter, because chances are he won't be re-elected. We found out the "change" was not what he said it would be, nor what we "hoped" for. Seriously, glad it is working for you, but for me...not so much.
Obama is wasting everybody's time. Why wont he - just show it to stop the questions?!!. nm

I think many people don' t like Obama because he is so serious, not fun, and - see message
[ In Reply To ..]
Many Americans like a President who speaks loudly and says things in bumper-sticker verbiage. Obama doesn't do that and many people can't relate to him. They want someone who acts powerful. I've even heard commentators this week saying that he needs to act more powerful. Personally, I like the low-key approach. I don't find it necessary for a President to be on a power trip. It sounds really good for a minute, "We're going to get that guy Dead or Alive!" Then it wears off over time. It doesn't wear well.
I just want a leader - icedT

Personally, I don't care what key they are in as long as they don't lie to me, and if they ARE going to lie to me, not to do it in a condescending way by telling me I really don't know what I want so they are going to do what they think is best for me.

Obama lost every bit of credibility for me when he went back on his promise to be the President for ALL the people (not Democrats, not Republicans, ALL the people I believe he said) when he told those of us who didn't want Obamacare to basically suck an egg and pushed it through anyway. Any modicum of trust I still had for him evaporated when he did that.

I am old enough to remember Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn, Students for a Democratic Society, Weathermen, etc., and what happened 40-some years ago. I also knew some people involved with SDS, but I believed and still believe in peaceful protests and do not condone what those people did. That being said, Bill Ayers was definitely joking about writing Obama's book in that video...no doubt about it.
Even when he called the second book a political - hack book? Come on.

The only thing I could see coming through was they think Obama is moving away from the far left more than they like.

Hi everyone, We were on a discussion below about asleep dreams, and it fizzled out. I myself am very interested in dreams. It's pretty well established (though not proven) that all people dream during sleep, but not all people remember their dreams.
