The country woke up, all of it

Posted: Nov 7, 2009

Call them liberals, call them progressives. Many fell asleep at the switch and the result was G. W. Bush. That caused us to wake back up, though, and take the country back.

The radical conservatives slept through the Bush years and only woke up when Obama was elected. But in their sleep, they heard things. And when they awoke, they parrotted those things that they had heard. Not correctly, but what do parrots know?

The left objected to loss of our civil rights through the wiretapping and data mining that went with the unconstitutional Patriot Act amendment to FISA that allowed the NSA to collect the phone records of tens of millions of Americans in the eventual hope of creating "a database of every call ever made" within our borders. So, wingnuts now cry about Obama taking away our rights by avoiding a depression and reforming health care. They remember something about rights, and know some have been taken. They are just confused about who, when, and how.

We were concerned about the record deficit that Bush made from a surplus. His budget didn't include funding the war, by the way. That would have made him look bad.

His tax cuts didn't help the economy nor did it help when he signed the Commodity Futures Modernization Act which allowed credit default swaps and the Enron fiasco. And we all know what credit default swaps did to the economy, worldwide even.

So, now wingnuts can complain about the drastic measures Obama has to take to salvage the economy because they think nothing was wrong before. Pay their share to keep things going? Nah. Just send them a check for a measley few hundred bucks and they'll be happy. They don't care about real numbers or that they got nothing with the tax cuts, like no upkeep of the country's inf rastructure which was falling apart at the cost of many lives.

And let's not forget the no-bid contracts with Halliburton which was guilty of >fraud and waste even to the point of killing our own soldiers with incompetence.

Nope, the wingnuts are only concerned with Obama's economic stimulus program because it bailed out...the sinking economy.

By the way, no one complains about gas prices now. Under Bush the oil companies raked in record profits while we paid record prices at the pumps So, how can the wingnuts use that? Um, they can't. That's why you don't hear anything about it. Maybe they heard the part about Bush cronies being oilmen and Bush's close ties to oil. Maybe that's why they call Obama a criminal. Who knows?

How about Kool-aid, the cry of the left during the Bush regine? Of course the wingers use it! They remember: Kool-aid bad, must use it against Obama. They don't remember blindly following their buddy Bush, the guy Joe Six-pack could feel comfortable sitting down with to have a beer. Nevermind that he was a liar and that was proven over and over. So, of course, Obama must lie.

Those sleepers heard us complain that Bush appointed criminals and toadies without qualifications and is considered a criminal himself by many. Did I say criminal? Just checking. I said criminal, right?

So, Obama must be a crook because he met Ayers. Crook! Liar! Kool-aid! Throwing money away!

Those same sleepers now wonder why Bush's name keeps coming up these days. They don't seem to realize they, by virtue of being parrots, are the ones reminding the rest of us of him.

To those conservatives and others who try to debate policy issues of Obama's that they do not like: thanks. It's always good to toss ideas around, to refine the process of the country's evolution. It cannot happen with voices from only one side being heard as we saw during Bush's terms.

To those who slept through the Bush years: please have another cuppa. You still haven't woken up fully. And if you want us to stop blaming Bush, quit reminding us of him. Stop copying what you heard in your sleep.

That's quite a diatribe there. Did ya think of all that yourself or get it off Olberman's blog? Face it, your guy is a crooked Chicago politician through and through, and he was lying about everything on the campaign trail just to get elected. Same-o, same-o.

Blah, blah, blah....nice cut and paste job - anon

My gosh there...ya might want to try doing something a little more positive with your time. All this pent up anger is not going to do you any good.

I read this and kept saying...what is he/she talking about, what does this have to do anything.

Your anger really should be directed at the party in there now and the damage they are doing. But then again sounds you are the one "still asleep at the wheel".

You know you reference President Bush so many times. You do realize he's not president anymore. You do realize the bad decisions that are being made now are not Bush's fault. In fact I can guarantee you when congress is making these bad decisions Bush's name has not come up once. But somehow the Obots have got it in their mind that it is and won't face the real world.

Nobody "slept" through the Bush years. We knew what was going on. We may not have liked it and now glad it's over, but there was nothing we could do, but we also don't keep blaming everything that happened on him. We put blame where blame is due.

The left never objected to the loss of our civil rights and this rambling on of the "unconstitutional Patriot Act" hey guess what...Obama supported it and continues to support it. And the very same collecting of information that you are ranting about...Obama and his comrades are doing. But I do understand...you didn't like it when the republicans did it, but you approve of it now that the democrats are doing it.

America is not concerned about the 1.2 trillion deficit Bush left the office with. What America is worried about is the 10.2 trillion that Obama has created and continues to rise. And sorry...Bush is out of office and has been for a year now. This all goes to the credit of the current admin.

Then that's where you lost it with rambling on about, well about nothing. It didn't even make sense you were all over the place.

P.S. - next time you might want to give credit to who you copied this from. If you wrote it yourself all I have to say is ya might want to pick up a positive hobby. All this pent up bitterness can't be good for your health.

You don't own it. Everything wrong going on you claim is never your messaih's fault. But you seem to think you have a water tight alibi for any present and future troubles - "Blame it on Bush".

It's not getting better it's getting worse. My goodness are you even watching what is happening to the country. You think more and more people losing their jobs and homes, going hungry because they are losing everything is "getting better"? You think continuing on in a war is getting better? You think changing the country into a socialist country is getting better? That's called delusion and I do believe there is medication for it.

We didn't sleep through the worst of it. We're wide awake and it's getting worse and worse.

Let me know if you need a wake up call.

Wow, NJ! You sure struck a nerve there. (sm) - Nikki

Please let me say that I really liked that post. Made perfect sense to me. As we know, there are true Republicans, and then there are the wingnuts, who thankfully represent the minority of the country. The people who are in the wingnut category must feel they're defending themselves. Hence, the attacks on you. I'm sure Republicans who don't see themselves as "wingnuts" just read your post and had nothing to reply because they know they're not part of that group.

Reasonable people of both parties know they have their fringes that are "out there." Acknowledging it is one thing. Defending it so vehemently is quite another.

Nikki, knowing she will be blasted just for being Nikki, writing something nice to a poster and acknowledging the bad in BOTH parties.

But of course it made perfect sense to you - You two parrot each other

[ In Reply To ..]
It was a long post of radical left wingnut hate.

Of course there are true conservatives and then the wingnuts. Just as there are in the democrat party. There are true liberals and then the wingnut liberals. Which is what the OPs post was about. And the liberals don't see themselves as wingnuts.

The message was just a hate-filled scattered all over the place note that went all over the board and had no coherent thoughts. It was like reading the words of someone with bipolar. The mood swings were up and down, and up again.

Also, you do not acknowledge bad in both parties. All the negative going on in your group and you do not even see it. All you come on and do is gleefully cut down conservatives, while praising every single thing the liberals do. You don't hold them responsible/accountable for anything wrong going on. You cannot deflect from the truth.

Hey, nice clause you put in there "Nikki, knowing she will be blasted just for being Nikki". Are you trying to cover yourself ahead of time? Pulllease, would you like a tissue. It is the CONTENT of your message that is troubling, not who you are. If you haven't gotten that one yet there is no hope.

You should read my post before attacking, especially (sm) - Nikki

the part that reads: "Reasonable people of both parties know they have their fringes that are "out there." Acknowledging it is one thing. Defending it so vehemently is quite another."

So I AM suggesting that Democrats have their share of wingnuts, as well.

Next time, please read it before you whine about the content.

Have a nice day. :-)

You said in your post âWow, NJ! You sure struck a nerve thereâ. And âPlease let me say I really liked that post. Made perfect sense to meâ. Iâm reading that and can hear it being read like a fairy tale story to school children. The post was filled with ramblings of a hate-filled message towards the conservatives. It had no coherent train of thought lashing out at just about everything they could think of, going all over the board, and again in a manic way - emotions up, emotions down, emotions up, etc. But since I know your posts that is exactly what I expected to hear. That's your viewpoint and that's fine. But there are others out there with opposing viewpoints and to cut them down because they don't agree with you or belong to your side is just....well silly I guess.

You both parrot each other and always start on this gleeful ranting of cutting down everyone who is not a liberal. There is no denying it â just read your posts.

As for your current post, uh yeah, I read it. Not buying the latest statement that there are âwingnutsâ on the democrat side.

Itâs gets frustrating and tiring to read the constant âgleeful conservative bashingâ for no good reason. Why, because they are a different party than you? Thatâs as bad as racism. And it really is quite silly since there is no difference in either party.

And before I hear âwell there is liberal bashingâ let me sayâ¦yes there is. Iâm not going to sit here and say there is none or one is worse than the other. They are both equal 50/50.

And it would be nice to talk about issues, not start up a whole new post just to gleefully bash conservatives in a long post of rambling about absolutely nothing, while taking no responsibility for the problems that are being created by your side. Talking about the patriot act and how bad it was when Bush was in and he approved it, yet now its perfectly okay because Obama is in and he approves it. Also rambling on about how bad it was when Bush was in and all the surveillance, etc, but now its perfectly okay because Obama is in and if its his administration doing the surveillance thatâs okay.

Next time, you need to read my message before âwhining about the contentâ.

Have a nice day. :-)

Don't wish to burst your bubble, but I DID mean exactly what I posted.

It sounds like you're defending the rightwing loons. There are many leftwing loons out there, as well, whether your CRYSTAL BALL tells you I'm a liar or not. I wouldn't defend the left-wing loons. Why are you defending the right-wing loons?

You've noticed that too? (also think they would back O - no matter how terrible a president he is).nm

This is what's funny - NJ

[ In Reply To ..]
The things I talked about in that post bring out more of the same. Talk about waking up, they will use the same analogy. If the original post said something about donuts, donuts would be all over the forum.

It's like the GOP is a dollar short and a day late. Obama leads, so the GOP makes Michael Steele head of the party. Hilary had a lot of backing, the GOP put Palin out there. Obama used technology to get the base connected. GOP tried Facebook but didn't understand how to work it (remember the racist post that stayed on the GOP Facebook page for a week?)

It goes on and on and on. They use the same terms we used to describe Bush when they want to slam Obama. Not because those terms fit but because they can't think of anything original.

Pretty funny, yes it is.

"They use the same terms we used to describe Bush when they want to slam Obama...." Let me get this straight: It's okay to bash Bush to your heart's delight, but when we bash Dear Leader (PBUH), that's a no-no? Do all Dumbocrats act like they're 2 years old, or is it just the liberals on this board?

What is it with the "it wasn't okay for us, but it's okay for you" stuff? Pubs do it, Dems don't like it, Dems do it, Pubs don't like it. The sides oppose for Pete's sake. Since when has it seemed okay to "bash" as you put it, the side you are on? These types of posts are useless and very very silly among other things. Sounds like a little kid.

Your post was perfection, NJ - Colleen
