sciatica

Posted: Feb 18, 2016

Anyone dealing with sciatic pain going all the way down their leg with tingling in their foot.  Ive had an MRI which showed DDD and a herniated disc but it is not pressing the nerve enough for surgery.  Ive tried epidurals, cortisone shots, ice, Prednisone, lumbar supports, chair cushions, chiropractor, stretching exercises, neurontin, Advil, muscle relaxers, etc. with no relief.  I get some relief standing up but as soon as I sit down its right back. The pain behind the thigh is the worse.  I am trying to save for a Varidesk.  Would be nice if insurance could pay for that.  But that doesn't help me driving or sitting for long periods of time.

a microdiskectomy. It can be performed as an outpatient, and it should be covered by your insurance since it's a medical necessity.

It's what my 31-year-old daughter needed after she reached 10 on the pain scale. Best thing she could have done.

I bet that... - Linda

that herniated disk is causing inflammation that does press on the nerve. I have spinal stenosis which causes sciatica but nowhere near as bad as you have it. I used to get injections to the LS spine every 6 months when I had insurance. I know it had corticosteroids but I wonder if they can give you more than just the steroids to give you some relief. I wish I had some advice for you but it seems like you have done everything you can except surgery. Please keep us posed. I hope you can get some relief soon!
