What is with people?!

My husband had a job interview on Friday. The HR lady said she would call him on Monday to set up his final interview. It is wednesday... has she called, no! She gave my hubby her card so he emailed her Monday night to thank her for the interview on Friday and to let her know he would like to schedule the final interview, but nothing... no email, no phone call, nothing! Its just so frustrating because he has been out of work for so long, and this would be a good job and everything was sounding so positive, and now nothing!! We are so tired of being ignored and treated like nothing. Some of the companies these days have no regard for people's lives or feelings.

He just wants a job and no one seems to want to give him that chance, and when they seem like they do, they don't call him back, what is wrong with the world??

Okay, now my rant is over but I'm still mad. I needed to get some frustration out. This is just so stupid!

There are dozens of people fighting for every job, but there's no excuse for not keeping their word. Even if your husb didn't get the job, they could at least have sent a form email telling him, instead of just ignoring him. He probably wouldn't want to work for that kind of company anyway. It's sad that these companies are messing with people's lives, and probably taking advantage of the economy by hiring people for way less than they're worth - and getting away with it.

Keep the faith! Something better will come along.

If she's been off ill or had to travel unexpectedly, eg a funeral, they will be able to tell him. I had it happen to me and when I called someone else was happy to help me out. No one else could access the person's email and they'd taken the files home with them so the rest of the office were in the dark and most apologetic.

Maybe the woman was ill or had a family emergency and was unable to call your husband, it happens. Before you accuse them of stupidity, you might want to get some facts. I'm only saying this because a similar thing happened to me. I did nothing but the interviewer later called and apologized stating that she was out of the office because her mom was having health problems. It's easy to forget that HR people are human too when all we can think about is getting that job. Wait and see, I'm guessing you'll learn the reason for the phone call and e-mails not being returned; it probably is not because of rudeness or stupidity.

if he wants the job so bad, he simply needs to make the effort to call HR - until he makes contact. n/m

Won tickets to a concert at the Gramercy Theatre in NYC for Tuesday night. Driving 4-1/2 hours to go to the show. I've only driven to NYC once and that was to stay at a hotel. I rarely if ever ask anyone for favors except my husband, but as far as out of my household I don't. My husband's brother doesn't mind asking a favor and neither does his wife.
