How dumb are people?

In Houstin, TX, we have a conservative group doing a "True the Vote" thing where they are there to make sure there is no fraud going on. As a conservative....this is just asking for trouble in my opinion. How can you detect fraud from standing outside? I guess unless you visibly watch every person that goes in to make sure the same person isn't going in....but seriously....how dumb. Now you have the New Black Panther Party retaliating and saying they will be there to make sure this conservative group doesn't intimidate any minorities at the polls. Ugh....can we say trouble in the making? So we have two groups with one group known to have its members stand outside the polls with clubs in 2008. Is this really the smartest thing to do?
I've gotten to the point where I think no one should be loitering around any polls. If you aren't in line, you shouldn't be there. If you have already voted, you shouldn't be there unless you are working inside the polls. I don't like people who stand outside giving me crap with candidates names on it. I don't want your stupid piece of candy. You shouldn't be there.....leave me alone and let me stand in line in peace.
Neither of those groups should be loitering around any polls...just my opinion though.

Dead people have been known to mysteriously vote and as much identity theft goes on....voter fraud can and is done. My point was that you can't catch them loitering outside the polls and you are just asking for trouble and now the New Black Panther Party is there to retaliate....both sides, in my opinion, are acting ignorantly.
The division that is happening is this country is truly disturbing to me. We have Al Sharpton throwing out the race card saying the whites and republicans are to blame for blacks unemployment. We have our president calling republicans and the tea party the "enemy." Now we have conservatives loitering at polls to stop voter fraud when you can't do that from outside the polls. I just think there is a lot of stupidity going around both sides and I'm tired of it.

[ In Reply To ..]They check your name off of a list but they don't require ID. I went to vote and was told I had already voted earlier in the morning. Gee, did I forget I had been there? Someone went in and gave my name and voted as me. Much as I protested, I was not allowed to vote because my name was checked off the list. I am PO'ed big time.

You have a right to vote and when someone uses your identity and takes the right away....we have a major problem. Just one reason why polls should ask for photo ID before allowing someone to vote.

Also, our Secretary of State looks into voter fraud, as I found out a couple weeks ago when there was "alleged" voter fraud already when Harry Reid's name was already checked when you opened the page, as a few people had reported.
I would absolutely contact one or all of these departments TODAY if your city/state/county has one.

[ In Reply To ..]I have contacted the election commission and you can bet I will not let go of this. I take my right and my obligation to vote VERY seriously and I am going to pursue this. Unfortunately, it is not sounding like I will actually be allowed a vote that will count in this election. We need to have a system that checks ID before voting. I can't write a check or use a charge card, get a job, travel by any mode or even get a library card without ID but someone can vote as me just by saying so? Something is very wrong.

There was a HUGE stink here when the law to show ID was passed, even the NAACP came in screaming that it was a racist law and that it would prevent minorities from voting. Thankfully though, again, it passed. I never got that part of it, in my eyes it is a good thing all the way around and your situation is an excellent example of why. I totally understand that a lot of "older" people may not have IDs with their picture on them, white and black, but the State was going to even provide the picture IDs for these individuals for free. Again ... I just didnt get where the race issue came into play.

I have a really dumb question. I have moderately severe osteoarthritis of my hip. I am finding it increasingly difficult to sit at a desk or table for longer than 15 or 20 minutes at a time.
