Speaking of cats - what is the name of your cat/cats?

I find it interesting what people name their pets and how they selected a specific pet name. Mine are both pure black and litter mates. At first we were gravitating towards names that would fit black cats one of which was Amos and Andy just t o name one. They ended up with the names of JJ and Mojo. JJ was short for Jimmie Johnson (my husband is a NASCAR fan) and Mojo was named related to blues music, which we attend a blues festival every year in Maine on the coast.

Grace Rebecca is cat's name. Not sure why 2 names but they fit her. She's Gracie when she's not in trouble.

JJ's nickname is JJ boy and Mojo's is Mojo man. We also call JJ our little "imp" or "little monkey" because he does not miss anything and is also up to mischief even at 6 years old. It is funny how a nickname is usually added. We once had a cat named Sadie and her nickname was Sadie Sue-Sue. Like you said - don't know why 2 names, but they usually fit.

Fat cat - Mona Lisa

We have a very large cat named Mona Lisa. We got her from the shelter. They gave her her name because right under her mouth she has a patch of grey hair that makes it look like she is always smiling. We usually just call her Mona, which i think fits a cat of her size quite well :)

I have Joe, Duchess, Sofia, Buddy, Honey, Starr, Oscar, Sasha, and Lucky the Destructo-Cat. The only ones I actually named are Duchess, because she's very regal and waits on the bed for me to come to her; Buddy because he's my little buddy and the name just popped into my head when I brought him home from the shelter; Honey, because she's a honey and a love of a little cat; Oscar - he's a big orange tabby who adopted me and the name just seemed to fit; and Lucky because he came to live with me after being given to my neighbor when he was 5 weeks old and it was on 07/07/07 and he was my 7th cat at the time.

Joe is also known as Monkey Man or Mr. Monkey Butt. Don't know why, though... I just started calling him Monkey Man when he came to live with me when he was about a year old. He's a big solid black cat, or used to be when he was younger. He's going on 13 now and has gotten skinnier over the years.

I have 6 indoors and a some outside. Here goes:
Cleo, short for Cleopatra, black cat.
Misha, tabby, named after Mikhail's nickname.
Chloe, tortie, don't know why.
Jack, tabby, named after Jack Bauer, love 24 and already had Chloe.
Woody, skinny cat, went from Bambi (had long legs like a baby deer) to Rudy (red nose) then ended up as Woody.
Sammy, orange kitten, just fit.

Outsiders:
Fluffy, Taffy, Minnie (Meanie), Maddy, Millie and Pookie. Big gray tomcat I just call Big Papa as he is papa to the young ones.

My cat's name was - Babette

When we got him (ALL black and beautiful) at 8 weeks old, he was named Mittens. That just didn't fit and after a couple of days I came up with Mojo although sometimes we also call him "meow meow" to which he'll come running and jump in our lap and purrrr.

I have a 15yo black cat named Cleo and another outside 7mo named Maddy. They both are just wimps. The other cats chase them, harrass them, bully them mercilessly. I have to step in everytime Cleo goes to the litter box. My 2yo will sit and wait to pounce on Cleo when she comes around the corner. Maddy is the same way, will hiss, but won't stand up for herself. Are most black cats like this? Seems strange to have 2 the same.

Tee hee hee - My Mojo will actually beat up on my jack russell terrier. He's scared of the outside and perfectly happy being an inside cat but he does have a mean streak in him.

My other black cat I used to have, Mimi, was VERY much a girly girl kitty. Dainty and petite. She was the outside cat we found as a stray. I don't see her as having a mean streak in her but since she's lived most of her life "on the street", I know she can fend for herself. She eventually ran off - I keep hoping she'll show back up on our doorstep like she did the first time.

Usually my 3 cats come running when I give them treats. This morning 2 showed up, where is the other one? I have looked all through the house. Over the years my cats have been on different dry and canned foods: Science Diet, expensive stuff from the vet that I can't recall the name of right now, etc. One of my babies has some allergies, resulting in sneezing and some colon issues. Ok, maybe not shaving my cat but here is the rundown. I have 4 cats, 2 with extremely long furry coats and they shed so much that I am almost drowning in fur. We've been taking care of a feral cat for 2 years. She finally trusts us enough that we can pet her. She surprised us with 4 kittens 9 weeks ago. Besides taking the vacuum cleaner and sucking these brats up in the cleaner, how can I do this. Every morning bright and early, around 6 or so, they stand outside my bedroom door and meow for their breakfast. We recently had new carpeting put in. We have 6 inside cats, none ever sprayed in the house until now, and now they all are. They just back up to a wall and/or a cabinet and let go. This is not a bladder infection problem, just an attitude problem from what I am reading. Has anyone had any luck in reversing this type of behavior? I am using "guaranteed" sprays to clean and discourage them but it is still happening. They do still use their litter boxes somewhat, but not as much as usual. Thanks ...

We have stray cats that come around our neighborhood and we've been feeding them. I know, I know, a mistake, but they were little kittens at the time mostly and so cute. I am an animal lover and am all for making them comfortable in the summer months, but please keep in mind that an animal's coat/fur PROTECTS them from the heat/sun. By shaving them to the skin, you are just setting them up to get even hotter outdoors and possibly burn their skin. Do you have an elderly kitty that tends to yowl a lot for no reason? My 14-year-old cat is happy, healthy, (been to vet not too long ago, also had a dental), and yet she some times yowls for what appears to be no reason. We live in a neighborhood and a lot of cats come and go through our yard. For the past 4 years or so a neighbors cat has been a constant visitor. During the cold winter nights she would come over and sleep in the boxes with blankets and an outdoor pet heating pad. She also would eat here too when she was not at her own place.
