Second-hand smoke

I'm getting stale cigarette smoke coming through the air vent in my apartment, from the people in the apt. above me. Our building property manager won't do a thing, and I do NOT want to approach my neighbors personally, cause I'm not good at this kind of thing and would probably make things worse.
Would an air cleaner or purifier do anything for this kind of problem? I'd buy anything within reason, if it would help reduce the smoke smell.
Any advice most welcome!

The worst part is, the people above me have a baby! The poor thing is breathing in all that smoke.

[ In Reply To ..]Every place I've lived not only didn't allow smoking in the building, but not even in the pool area or the carports.
It's a legal risk for them, not only a physical risk for their tenants. They face potential lawsuits over health issues from tenants, not to mention the increased risk of fire, and likely higher insurance premiums.

[ In Reply To ..]I wish it were illegal, but unfortunately it's still allowed in my city. Recently, there was an apartment fire here which started when someone threw a cigarette butt onto someone's balcony. Hopefully, the laws will change one day soon.

Hi, anyone know a factual answer on this one?
