Needing some ideas about good, comfortable

Posted: Sep 11, 2014

I swear by Berkinstock shoes, have probably 6 or 7 pairs of those and I like the fact that I have good support for my arches, no problem there. I am asking about some good walking shoes that have the same arch supports. By the way, I literally hate tennis shoes on me, make my feet look extremely large so not looking to get those. Any ideas on shoes that could give me the support of the Birkie's - what I have now are mostly sandals and these would need to be something other than open toed sandals. ;

My first pair of Naot shoes was 2-inch heels, and I literally said ALOUD "Where have you been all my life?" Even heeled sandals, they were the most comfortable shoes I'd ever had on my feet in my entire life. Most of them will give your foot a less duck-footed profile--some are downright gorgeous, some are weird-looking, some are so-so. I live in a warm climate and use my Naot clogs for most of my walking around the block. Same price range, more or less.

Easy Spirit. I found an almost-new pair of them - at the Goodwill, and they ROCK! nm

I have problem feet, and I have many pair of both brands. I am going to check out the other poster's suggestion as I haven't tried those. Birkenstock makes supports that go in any shoe, they also make shoes other than sandals and clogs. If you see a pair you like shop around for the best price.

For me, the best walking shoes I found were running sneakers! - ETOHPRN

I took up running for the first time in my life this spring. I'm 40+ and I couldn't even walk at a good clip, let alone try and run! I started out with cheapie sneaks and quickly learned they were doing more harm than good, as demonstrated by my empty Tylenol and ibuprofen bottles.

On the advice of a friend, I sank what I felt was a fortune (anything over $20 for shoes) on a pair of Asics running sneakers, after spending waaaay too much time at a sporting goods store and a salesperson with a clue, trying to find the right fit. Even then, they didn't have my size (big and wide!) and I had to order on line, which actually saved me quite a chunk of change going that route (thank you Amazon Prime!).

Anyway, long story short, those are the only sneakers I will ever buy again and I have never been "brand loyal" to anything. I walk in them, run in them, mow the lawn in my first pair that lost their cushioning too much to safely run in anymore.

Well worth the investment. No more Tylenol or ibuprofen. No more Achilles tendon pain or shin splints. No more calluses.

Take your time and find the best shoe you can buy. There's an old saying of "No hoof, no horse." Same can be applied to us! Take care of your feet and the rest of your mind, body, and spirit will follow.

Enjoy your walks, no matter where your feet lead you! :)

well, if u do not want open toe shoes, good luck. Might want to try shoes like Crocs (though not Crocs). It is a Dansk shoe maybe? I cannot recall their name. they are closed toe, clog type.
otherwise Clarks are very comfy and super cute.

New Balance -sm - Anon

I have a heel spur that was very painful. I went to the New Balance store, got on their machine, and bought some shoes that were right for my type of feet. The salesman put some inserts in the shoes, again for my type of feet, and the shoes felt even better. The shoes were $135, and the inserts were $65. I've never spent that much for a pair of tennis shoes (or any shoes for that matter other than cowboy boots), but they have been well worth the money. I've been wearing them to work for a year and a half, and they still look almost new. My heel spur hasn't hurt since I've worn those shoes, which is really amazing to me. I have the brown ones, so they don't look like tennis shoes.

I've Got A Finicky Eater. Anybody Have Any Good, Finicky Kid Friendly, Meal Ideas?Sep 08, 2011
She's been this way since she was a baby.  Refused to eat baby food.  I even cheated when she was a baby and put sugar in some of the vegetables, NO GO! Now she's 10 and she is tiny.  She's not like scary skinny or anything like that.  I'm short and her dad's short, so consequently she's short, but she's built more like my MIL in that she's small boned too.  So looks tiny.  She definitely can't afford to not eat and late ...

Need Recomendations On A Comfortable BraDec 11, 2012
I was wondering if anyone can recommend a good supportive comfortable bra to wear while sitting here all day typing.  I don't like to go without one, (only if I wear a big oversized sweatshirt jacket for cover) and feel I need the support; plus I have 3 older boys in the house so I need to be a bit modest as well.  I am a 38 C. Thanks for any suggestions! ...

More Americans Comfortable With A GayMay 07, 2015
More Americans feel comfortable with a presidential candidate who identifies as gay or lesbian than with one who identifies as an evangelical Christian, according to a new poll. The latest WSJ/NBC poll listed a series of qualities in a potential presidential candidate and asked respondents whether they'd "be enthusiastic," "be comfortable with," "have some reservations about" or "be very uncomfortable with" a candidate with each of those qualities. The results revealed that Americans ...
