More Americans comfortable with a Gay

Posted: May 7, 2015

More Americans feel comfortable with a presidential candidate who identifies as gay or lesbian than with one who identifies as an evangelical Christian, according to a new poll. The latest WSJ/NBC poll listed a series of qualities in a potential presidential candidate and asked respondents whether they'd "be enthusiastic," "be comfortable with," "have some reservations about" or "be very uncomfortable with" a candidate with each of those qualities. The results revealed that Americans are actually quite open to having a gay presidential candidate. Sixty-one percent said they would be either enthusiastic about or comfortable with a gay or lesbian candidate, while only 37 percent said they would have reservations or be uncomfortable. By comparison, respondents were a little less comfortable with the prospect of a candidate who is an evangelical Christian. Fifty-two percent said they'd be enthusiastic about or comfortable with an evangelical Christian running for president, while 44 percent expressed some degree of hesitancy about the idea. (Two percent of respondents said they were not sure about a gay or lesbian candidate, while four percent were not sure about an evangelical.) ________________ In the serious pursuit of fact versus fiction, the article was written as "candidate" not actual president, but I can't sort out a difference, as you must be a candidate to be president and there are usually only a few candidates to choose from and usually only one representing your own party, so I think it means the same thing.;

Your post is insulting. Gays and lesbians believe in God too - doncha know?

The key word here was evangelical not Christian. nm - Alice

Some gays are Christian and/or believe in God. Most Evangelicals are christians who believe in God - and themselves, but not gays

This is why gays and Christians don't believe in most Evangelicals.

Need Recomendations On A Comfortable BraDec 11, 2012
I was wondering if anyone can recommend a good supportive comfortable bra to wear while sitting here all day typing.  I don't like to go without one, (only if I wear a big oversized sweatshirt jacket for cover) and feel I need the support; plus I have 3 older boys in the house so I need to be a bit modest as well.  I am a 38 C. Thanks for any suggestions! ...

Needing Some Ideas About Good, ComfortableSep 11, 2014
I swear by Berkinstock shoes, have probably 6 or 7 pairs of those and I like the fact that I have good support for my arches, no problem there. I am asking about some good walking shoes that have the same arch supports. By the way, I literally hate tennis shoes on me, make my feet look extremely large so not looking to get those. Any ideas on shoes that could give me the support of the Birkie's - what I have now are mostly sandals and these would need to be something other than open toed sa ...

A Third Of Americans Now Say They Are Nov 04, 2012
From Pew Research, 09/12/2012: The percentage of Americans who say they are in the lower-middle or lower class has risen from a quarter of the adult population to about a third in the past four years, according to a national survey of 2,508 adults by the Pew Research Center. Not only has the lower class grown, but its demographic profile also has shifted. People younger than 30 are disproportionately swelling the ranks of the self-defined lower classes. The shares of Hispanics and whites ...

We Are All AmericansJun 25, 2017
We are all Americans. Why is it that I feel like an anarchy is about to happen. Blacks are against whites again even though we already fought this fight in the 60s and have laws and blacks are much better off than before the 60s. True not all the problems are solved, but Democrats are helping the young blacks start all over again with their nonstop stuff. I fear that our country will be hit by some other country and something like 911 is the only thing that will join us together again, even f ...

We Are All Americans Jun 26, 2017
To the poster who answered my post entitled We are All Americans, I read it again and I never once called anyone names. I was asking, literally begging you all to come together to make our country the best we can be. What is wrong with that? At any rate, Democrats are so touchy and end up being nasty and hateful and actually physically assault others, all because a person disagrees with them. I don't recall threatening anyone or calling names. Again, I just asked you to stop ...

Let's Just All Get Back To Being Americans, Shall We?May 14, 2017
They think we all have the intelligence of a retarded eggplant and try to manipulate us into these wars amongst ourselves.  Believe me, it suits their purposes very well. US CONCENTRATION CAMPS...FOR AMERICANSDec 15, 2010
In-laws called today to say they had seen on the news that the US now has 800 FEMA camps across the United States in case of Martial Law in which they would take American dissidents who oppose government control/actions.  My husband and I looked it up and it is true.  There were other sites we viewed as well such as the fact that outside of Georgia the CDC was storing 500,000+ "disposable coffins", still about 125,000, in a leased soybean field, and others across the country.  Wha ...

Things That Bring Americans TogetherMay 08, 2011
I've been thinking about how Americans of good will come together and forget all their arguments, at important times and over certain topics. We don't tolerate child abuse, for example. Most of us get nauseated when we hear skin head rhetoric, LOL, and we want clean water. There are probably lots more, but I just happen to be thinking about those today. It's a good feeling when we (most of us) come together for good things. ...

Americans Never Give Up Your Guns!Jan 10, 2013
Americans never give up your guns 28.12.2012   By Stanislav Mishin  These days, there are few things to admire about the socialist, bankrupt and culturally degenerating USA, but at least so far, one thing remains: the right to bear arms and use deadly force to defend one's self and possessions. This will probably come as a total shock to most of my Western readers, but at one point, Russia was one of the most heavily armed societies on earth. This was, of course, wh ...
