Need recomendations on a comfortable bra

Posted: Dec 11, 2012

I was wondering if anyone can recommend a good supportive comfortable bra to wear while sitting here all day typing.  I don't like to go without one, (only if I wear a big oversized sweatshirt jacket for cover) and feel I need the support; plus I have 3 older boys in the house so I need to be a bit modest as well.  I am a 38 C.

Thanks for any suggestions!

I have a couple Playtex 18 hour bras I picked up at JCPenney on a good sale one day and I love them! They also work well for class (massage school). The number is a 4159 if you care to check it out on the website. No underwire, good support, slight lining, no frills.

I have not tried the leisure bras others are recommending, but I have been wearing Genie bras for several months and find them very comfortable and supportive enough for me, and I am your size. They have no hooks at all, which is a big plus for me. I wear the L/1X size. I forget I even have a bra on because they are so comfortable for me.

That sounds like something I'd like to try. Do they have it in a 36 long?
no. - sizing goes by your "shirt size"

and even though it says the bottom band does not "roll", it does. That was the very first thing it did after I received mine. They are comfortable, except for the rolled up band underneath which after a while is irritating.
What I stated about the size was a joke I - bshel

Leisure Bra - See Msg

I buy leisure bras. They're not sports bras, by any means, so don't confuse them.

They're very comfortable. They just get you by for around the house, but have enough support so you don't bounce when you're going out to the mailbox. They're usually front-hook style.

Do not skimp by getting a cheapie. Run away from anything $12 or under. Those are not comfy.

A decent leisure bra can run the price of a regular decent bra (I like Bali) or a little less. Not all of them run a band size, just the cup.

If you can, try some on in a store before purchasing. I like to catalog shop, but you might be better off trying on in a store first for the style and all.

I also love the leisure bras - sm

These are so comfortable, I even sleep in them sometimes. I picked up a 2-pack of Genie bras at BB&B for about $20. I don't ever wear these bras out of the house because they don't help to shape you in a flattering way (but don't completely squash you down like a sports bra does either), but they're great for around the house. It's important to get a large enough size, too.

Another vote for the leisure bra - I have the Leading Lady brand

These are from Woman Within which is a plus size catalog.

Unlike the poster above, I DO wear these out of the house. They give just enough coverage so the girls don't go flopping around and aren't hanging down to my knees and that's good enough for me. I am just not interested in wearing any other kind of bra in the house or out of the house. Period.

I won't ever wear another one. These are so freaking comfortable, it's ridiculous.
Thank you for all the replies! I am going to look into - them. Let's hope they work for me!

Are you sure of your size? I was *professionally* fitted and - shocked how big I actually am. SM

I mean, I knew the girls + size but was surprised at the actuality.

I wear a T shirt under a sweatshirt and get good coverage - and comfort. nm

They don't carry non-padded bras in my size because duh...who wouldn't want padding if they are only a size A. LOL.

I hate padding! So yeah, I buy the pre-teen bras, too! Although most pre-teens are probably still more stacked than I am!

I hate padding. It's like some cultural agreement that I am not good enough.

Funny... - Flat people want biguns-see msg

It is so funny. Flat people want biguns, bigun people want flat ones. I'm in between at a 36-48 C, depending on the brand.

To me, flat would be soooo much more comfy. We semi-biguns/biguns have to worry all the time about bouncing (flopping if you're older), even if we're just running out to the store.

You little uns can just sort of put something cute on and be on your way.

As to sweatshirts and hiding, we here in South FL can't do that!

actually, I think flat people don't like being called flat just because they - don't have biguns : )

I was tired of my boobs entering a room 5 minutes before I did and decided to go with a reduction. Probably best 2nd surgery I have had done (the first being tummy tuck) but learned afterwards those jokers can grow back! I only wish now that I had gone down to a size B or so, I would not care and neither would the hubby.

I like my wee ones. I crack jokes about them, but I do it out of love.

Needing Some Ideas About Good, ComfortableSep 11, 2014
I swear by Berkinstock shoes, have probably 6 or 7 pairs of those and I like the fact that I have good support for my arches, no problem there. I am asking about some good walking shoes that have the same arch supports. By the way, I literally hate tennis shoes on me, make my feet look extremely large so not looking to get those. Any ideas on shoes that could give me the support of the Birkie's - what I have now are mostly sandals and these would need to be something other than open toed sa ...
