After my divorce in 1994 I started buying my own jewelry second hand primarily at pawn shops, on ebay, and from Craigslist since the retail markuup is 100% to 200% (and don't get me started about my niece-in-law).
In any case, I see a lot of diamond rings on Craigslist that people say they have paid a warranty on, keep getting dipped, and have checked regularly every 6 months.
Is this some new con by retail jewelers? Aren't diamonds pretty much indestructable? What are people paying for here?
I was married 24 years and the only thing I ever did for my rings was take them off when I had to put my hands in something icky. And my daugter has them now.
