About picking up restautant food and tip

We were talking at my office about picking up restautant food, and whether or not a tip is justified.

Example, if you call in an order to a restaurant like Claim Jumper (citing an example a co-worker used) and you swing by to pick it up on the way home, would you tip? Technically, you're not in the restaurant and getting service. Typically, a tip is given due to the service provided by the waitstaff.

I said maybe one would be justified if you stayed parked and they brought it to you.

I usually leave about $2 out of guilt. How about you?

Even though I am not seated in the restaurant, I most certainly am getting service. Someone took my order, prepared and cooked my food, put it in appropriate carry-out containers, did the same with dips or sauces if necessary, likely included some utensils and napkins, bagged it up, and set it up front so all I have to do is "swing by" on the way home to pick it up.

Absolutely I tip for that service, and my tip is based on the bill, just as it would be had I been sitting inside getting the other kind of service.

Does this same rule apply to fast food? Someone also takes the order, prepares the food, etc., just wondering if you tip the guy at the window when you "drive around please!"

I do not tip for this. I don't tip at McDonalds either. The kitchen never sees that tip and I don't feel that the minute it takes for someone to cash me out when I pick it up as being tip worthy.

I tip for delivery and restaurant service, but I don't tip when I pick up food, get fast food, or go to coffee shops. Our state makes people deduct tips from their wages anyway, so they don't make extra money with tips.

Won't touch the 4Health or Taste of the Wild. So, we're done spending a fortune on dog food. We're going back to Beneful. It seems to be the only thing she likes. Thank heavens, we only bought the small bags and they are gone now. On the positive side, as long as she's not eating much, she might lose some weight. LOL ...

I just got this at Big Lots (and like Mikey...they ATE it!!!). The company is registered in Hong Kong, the product is supposedly made in Thailand. Chinese products worry me. Does anyone have a cat with food allergies? My white/tabby mix seems to always be itching but does not have fleas. His white ears are frequently pink and warm and he scratches quite a bit. I don't know how many people follow the recalls but I need to warn you about another dog food that's NOT on recall. . . Beneful dog food... Well, the very next day, DH went to get Blue Buffalo and instead came home with a 5 lb. bag of 4health ($6) and Taste of the Wild ($12) instead (he always listens to sales people). We started her on 4health and she didn't touch it the first day unless we put in 1/2 can of wet and veggies. The second day she ate it with no problem. I was wondering if anyone else has noticed when their children have food dyes if they get super hyper and do not listen well. I have noticed a pattern with my 3-year-old daughter, especially with the red 40 dye. When we give her anything with the dye in it she turns into a completely different child than her normal self.
