Food for thought-Anyone up for a quiz?

Posted: Nov 12, 2012

Who said this? This may have been on the History Channel's 'Men Who Built America' series but I missed a couple minutes in each episode. I clipped this out of our hometown newspaper.

"It is not the employer who pays the wages. He only handles the money. It is the product that pays the wages."

I think that was Henry Ford (just sounds like something he would say). I have the 'Men Who Built America' series DVR'd, but I haven't gotten to Ford yet.

Looks like no one wants to have any fun. LOL - backwards typist

You are right, though. Henry Ford said it. I think it's a wise saying.

Also, someone wrote in to the local newspaper back in 2007 that stated:

"Business depends on customers, workers and investors. Politicians depend on taxes; they are not the money earners."

I think that's pretty smart, too. Don't know if they were quoting someone or if that was their very own quote.

I've noticed :) - ZvilleMT

Guess there wasn't enough to argue about in your post :)

I agree, those quotes are pretty smart - politicians seem to forget that the money we send them isn't theirs. They would be wise to read up a little more on Henry Ford.

A friend is paid $11/hour to bill a wealthy local internist's - practice. Who TOLD the "product" how muc

[ In Reply To ..]
to pay her? This guy not only lives wealthy, he seems to own part of every ancillary medical service in town--imaging center, dialysis center, women's health center, etc.

Usual theory is more supply-and-demand. Wages go down until nobody'll take the job (supply dries up) then stops right above that. That's our problem, too much supply willing to work for anything rather than go out in the world, all our older people who want to finish it out in this field if they possibly can, plus all the newbie idiots who didn't do their homework before entering this field.

Okay I have got to ask - Not the OP

[ In Reply To ..]
I'm not the OP and I didn't post a reply. It's not that I agree or disagree because there is nothing in it to agree or disagree about. I don't care about the like or dislike buttons on any threads because it doesn't give a true reprsentation of how many people like or dislike a mesage, but I'm just curious... Of the two posters who disliked it. Why? Whether or not you dislike it is of no meaning to me, but I'm just curious why you disliked it. Her question was that she wanted to know who said something on the history channel. Are you disliking the post because you don't like the history channel? Did you dislike that she missed a couple minutes? Did you dslike that she clipped something out of her home town newspaper? Or did you simply dislike because it came from backwards typist? I'm thinking the latter, but I'd seriously like to know why you disliked.

Henry Ford. Then what about the auto industry bailout? - what's your point? lol

That would make cars a bad product, then? Or perhaps the "employers" tanked the industry? Oops.

Food For Thought..I Found This To Be A Jun 25, 2012
very interesting insight... When I was a child growing up in the late 1940s and early 1950s one of my favorite radio programs was the continuing saga of The Lone Ranger. I would huddle next to the radio every night to follow the adventures of the Lone Ranger and his faithful companion, Tonto. Unfortunately, the program aired just about my bed time and, as often as not, my parents would insist that I miss part of the program and keep to the schedule they'd deemed appropriate. One nigh ...

Food For Thought On The Immigration BanMar 17, 2017
Did anyone read it? i did. Liberals and Trump haters are saying it's a Muslim ban. IT IS NOT.  The word Muslim was never mentioned in the EO i read. It explained the reasons very well for why the government wanted the ban on those countries. Don't forget Obama also did a similar thing in 2011. The difference between Obama's EO and Trump's EO is Obama didn't say anything about it. It was a secret. Trump spoke out about it. That's the ONLY difference.&n ...

Food For Thought About Health Care ReformsOct 11, 2010
For those of you who condemn private insurers for denying coverages for particular visits, hospital stays, procedures, etc., think back to when this wasn't the case, when things were covered.  Then think about who started the denial ball rolling.  Yup, you guessed it.  It was the government.  Medicare was the bad guy here when they started paying those capitated payments, set amounts for services and set length of stay rules, and went on from there to find new and more e ...

Cat With Possible Food Allergies?Apr 24, 2013
Does anyone have a cat with food allergies?  My white/tabby mix seems to always be itching but does not have fleas.  His white ears are frequently pink and warm and he scratches quite a bit.  Last night I noticed him licking his belly and it, too, was quite pink. We have been round and round with this kitty since we inherited him from my MIL.  He was always a puker and I have improved that condition with different food and hairball treats, but I'm wondering if the pukin ...

Dog Food RecallsSep 04, 2013
I don't know how many people follow the recalls but I need to warn you about another dog food that's NOT on recall. . . Beneful dog food...  Sadly, our baby had ALL of these symptoms, not in order, not daily, and not all of them, so her symptoms weren't recognized. School Food ProgramJan 25, 2012
Listening to Rush this a.m.  He was saying Michele Obama should abandon her attempts at improving nutrition in the schools.  He said children refuse to eat the tofu that Michele wants them to eat.  What is the point of warping this discussion beyond recognition?  I visited my nephew's school and I was appalled at the school lunch. Chicken nuggets and pizza, etc.  I have never heard Michelle talk about replacing this junk with tofu.  Why not just go ba ...

Update On Dog Food ProblemMar 08, 2011
Well, the very next day, DH went to get Blue Buffalo and instead came home with a 5 lb. bag of 4health ($6) and Taste of the Wild  ($12) instead (he always listens to sales people). We started her on 4health and she didn't touch it the first day unless we put in 1/2 can of wet and veggies. The second day she ate it with no problem. She also seems to be 'full' after eating and isn't crying or whining. The next day, she didn't even touch her breakfast until after lun ...

“The lessons of history … show conclusively that continued dependence upon relief induces a spiritual and moral disintegration fundamentally destructive to the national fiber. To dole out relief in this way is to administer a narcotic, a subtle destroyer of the human spirit.” These searing words about Depression-era welfare are from Franklin Roosevelt’s 1935 State of the Union Address. FDR feared this self-reliant people might come to depend permanently upon government ...

About Picking Up Restautant Food And TipMay 10, 2010
We were talking at my office about picking up restautant food, and whether or not a tip is justified. Example, if you call in an order to a restaurant like Claim Jumper (citing an example a co-worker used) and you swing by to pick it up on the way home, would you tip? Technically, you're not in the restaurant and getting service. Typically, a tip is given due to the service provided by the waitstaff. I said maybe one would be justified if you stayed parked and they brought it to you. I usua ...
