Carson's comments get stranger and stranger

Posted: Nov 5, 2015

Carson is getting on shaky ground. He has decided that the Egyptian pyramids were built by Joseph to store grain, which the Bible does not teach us and neither do historical records which indicate they were tombs. I think this comes under the category where the Bible tells that in endtimes people will listen to things that 'tickle their ears.' In other words, people believe that intrigues them even when there are no facts to back them up. Personally I think it would be fun to believe that Joseph built the pyramids, but it just isn't true. I believe that time for believing what 'tickles the ears' (whatever sounds fun) is truly here.

Also getting a little shaky are the stories he has written and talked about of how he used to be an angry man who did violent things, but nine friends, classmates and neighbors who grew up with Carson told CNN they have no memory of the anger or violence the candidate has described.

It sounds like a way to win over a certain group of GOP voters who like these kinds of things, but it doesn't wash when hit by the light of day. I have become increasingly skeptical of Carson. Every day comes more evidence that he may be a talented surgeon, but, like many doctors most of us know up close and personal, may be a little light on common sense and heavy on the drama.

;

I will not be voting for him. Others are welcome to buy into his story though - Skeptical puts it mildly

I've always been skeptical and nothing I've seen from him on debates or interviews has changed that. This doesn't sound good. Others are free to buy into the stories he tells, of course. I don't.

That would be a poor design for grain storage and since the design came from God - Carson is just way way out there on that

[ In Reply To ..]
Just think about it. The pyramids are very thick stone with small rooms inside, not necessary under the circumstances. They were storing grain for 7 years of no rain, potential famine. The pyramids were built to avoid theft and intrusion. The grain storage Joseph built was simply to store the grain and make it available to the people so they wouldn't starve during those 7 years. There was no risk of theft because the place was covered with the Pharaoh's security. If you believe the Bible, as I do, you believe that God created the design and inspired Joseph to save the Hebrew nation during that time of famine. He would not have made such a poor grain storage error. It didn't happen. Politicians need to stop making crazy comments like this about things they apparently know nothing about. The answers are in the Bible.

...the crazier I believe he is.

Me, too - Independent, too

What did it for me were his remarks on the Holocaust and also about the Oregon Community College shooting.

Oh my, yes. That did it for me too - Also Independent

His remarks are so off base and inappropriate.
When I watch and listen to him he seems to have a flat affect - I always think it seems pathological
[ In Reply To ..]
There is just something about the strange things he says and the cold, quiet but not really calm, demeanor that bothers me more than just not agreeing with the wild ideas. Something is just not right.

This what he really said about the pyramids - anonie

He says "My own personal theory is that Joseph built the pyramids in order to store grain.”

He is not asking everyone to believe his answer is gospel.

You all have to take him out of context and because he is Christian and lefties don't like Christians, this is what we get, untrue assessments of a man who has faith in God.

He was also witnessing to how God worked in his life, i.e. about almost killing a person with a knife and then the time God spared him from the robber. Could be that this was a detraction that helped someone pursue the criminal rather than some off the wall thing. Maybe he defused the situation in some way.

I don't see why you all want to believe someone's assessment of something when you have not tried to Google for his speech or what he just said which I quoted.

"Lefties don't like Christians" - huh?

[ In Reply To ..]
Where do you get that??? I'm a left-leaning independent and Christian to boot. You need to let go of the idea that every Christian is a far-right-wing conservative because it's absolutely not true. As for Bennie boy, he's not grounded in reality. There's no way he'll be our next president.

Actually it was a lot more than just his opinion - Read what he wrote

[ In Reply To ..]
It's more than just an opinion. It is his teaching to his followers, and that is troublesome.

Even if it was just his opinion, it's weird and not based on Bible or other sources - nm

My belief in Jesus Christ as my Savior is the most important thing in my life - and I am not a GOP

Please don't assume that God sanctions your extremism and has rejected anyone who doesn't buy into it. I have a very strong Christian faith. I also think that the far right extremism is dangerous and is destroying our government and our country overall. It's mean and hateful, definitely not God-like, gracious, loving, or kind.

Rep Andre CarsonAug 31, 2011
I understand the tea party group is pretty unpopular these days, but is this really a fair assessment?  IMO, the majority of the tea party members do not want to return to a day of slavery or lynching and it's completely unfair to group all the tea party members in with a few that might be racist.  I don't always agree with the tea party, especially the freshman members in congress, but I'd be willing to bet none of them want to hang anyone from a tree. Thoughts?  ...

Dr. Benjamin CarsonFeb 12, 2013
I watched part of his speech at the prayer dinner while Obama sat there looking angry and in his own thoughts. He said he prayed before he went up there to talk to ask God to give him the right words to say. And he did. If you can catch the speech on YouTube or a transcript, and catch an interview when he was on Hannity you will see what a real leader looks like. He made nothing but sense and said the things Mitt Romney should have said or for that matter, any Republican Conservative, have t ...

I do not blame him for doing this. They do not give him time to talk on these debates, any station. It is all Trump, Trump, Trump. Ben Carson On Meet The PressAug 03, 2015
So, I am extremely liberal--by this venue's standards anyway. I was at a gathering of friends yesterday, and, yes, most of us are pretty liberal, there are a few strays, and we had a few jabs back and forth, but the point. I was told by one of my friends that I should watch Carson on Meet the Press...it was outrageous, funny, (all the other side political jabbing, you know how it goes, most of you do it with Hilary). I just had time to do it. This is the most reasonable I have seen th ...

Carson Had Better Adress This Issue HimselfSep 21, 2015
Carson, et al. is in "trouble" for stating that a Muslim is not fit for office of the POTUS.    So, the discussion is why the radical actions of a religion should be the judgment for whether a person who ascribes to that faith can exclude that person from holding office as POTUS? How about those evangelicals?  Women's subservience, anti-gay, some are outwardly racist.  Anybody think, maybe, just maybe religion needs to get out of the political process? ...

sort of the way of some other documents...they pick and choose. Constitution doesn't work that way, particularly when running for POTUS. Ben Carson Has A Character Flaw ProblemOct 08, 2015
