Gee, what a surprise - Sick of it

Anybody who DARES speak out against "the messiah" gets investigated, is suddenly found dead, etc. Isn't that interesting.

Sadly, I'm not surprised. - NPC

The liberal machine is very afraid and is attempting to shut down any conservative voice.

And what really, really gets me and angers me over this is (sm) - Abby

[ In Reply To ..]
the stupid Republicans and the stupid Democrats in Congress who keep saying over and over, "he's not allowed to do that" and "they're not allowed to do that", and they do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to stop him/them. It's truly disgusting and they should all be voted out. Time for new blood.

Amen to that! - NPC

Talk is cheap. Let's see some action!

My "gee, what a surprise" was sarcasm - Sick of it

I am not at all surprised. "The messiah" will get his way, one way or the other. I am all for term limits for Congress. These fat cat lifetime politicians need to get back to the real world and see how real people have to live.
Term limits and no lifetime benefits! - ZvilleMT

I think if they would go into DC, do their jobs for their terms, and then go back to a real job, they would think more about the laws and regulations they pass while in DC because they would have to live with them in the real world.

For example, if they all had to somehow survive on Social Security and Medicare after they retired, I'm certain those two things would be fixed and funded for the next 300 years!
I'd love to see a one-term 6-year president. - A BHL

No personal political motivation. Just straight policy and leadership. No everything comes screeching halt in 4 years to campaign for reelection.

I don't know if that would work for congress, but too many times politics get in the way of policy and moving forward, and the Americans are the losers.

I'd love to see a one term 2 year president - 6 years to way to long
[ In Reply To ..]
A lot of damage can be inflicted in that time (6 years). At least with two years once they start the destruction the devastation only last 2 years.
I disagree. Would you want a Republican in for only 2 years? - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
I think 6 years is a perfect amount of time to accomplish long-term campaign promises to the people without interjecting politics as a motivation. Two years isn't enough. We have the checks and balances and I have faith in that system. Sometimes it's not perfect, but things have a way of working out. Today's debt ceiling events bear that out, but that's for another thread.
I don't want anyone in that long whether they are R or D - Okay, lets raise it to 3 years
[ In Reply To ..]
Anything longer than that is too long. 3 years is the perfect amount of time. Once politicians are elected the last thing from their minds are accomplishing long-term promises to the people. The greed starts taking over and transforms them. By having to only put up with 3 years of it I think is a good amount of time. If they can't do what they set out to do in three years then so be it. If its something really good for the country then the next candidate can continue it. 6 years is a lifetime when you are living in hell. 3 years is perfect.
Totally agree BHL! - ZvilleMT

I wasn't even thinking in terms of president, but I really think that would work. They would go in, do their job, not have to worry about re-election, and then go home. I like it!

The only potential problem with congress would be finding different people to run - there would have to be some major campaign finance reform first because your average citizen just doesn't have the money for that.

Loving your moniker, BTW :)
If the shoe fits :-) Hey! Maybe we can get some kind of bipartison petition going! - NM

Surprise! I agree, too!! - NPC

I've often thought that presidents change drastically (and not for the better) in their second term. What do they have to lose? They certainly don't need "their" constituents any longer.

I'm also for campaign finance reform and have been for quite some time. It has lately appeared as if the one with the most money wins.

(I remember a bumper sticker years ago: "The one with the most toys wins".)

I agree with you, however... - ZvilleMT

What really can they do? Congress has two options (that I know of) - defund or impeach. While the House has control over the money, anything they do has to be approved by the Senate and they've already tried defunding the ACA several times to no avail. And even if the House would draw up articles of impeachment (which would be very bad for them politically, IMO), the Senate would never vote to impeach because Obama's one of their own - it would be Clinton all over again and most of us remember how well that went over.

Unfortunately the only recourse there is is for someone or some group that can prove they have been hurt in some way by these changes to sue, and even then it would take forever. I just hope that when the republicans take back the Senate, they're not as stupid about doing things as they have been in the past!

Saw a funny on Facebook the other day - it said something to the effect of if Obama can bypass congress, why can't we and just impeach him ourselves :)

Not at all surprising but very sad - FedUpDem

I recently watched a Ben Carson interview where he stated, until he spoke out against Obamacare, not one single return of his had every been audited. Now they are going line by line. I have a girlfriend who worked for him before his retirement (she worked on the transplant coordination team). She spoke very highly of Dr. Carson, and not just because of the thousands of families Dr. Carson has helped. She said that Dr. Carson was one of the most gentlemanly, genuinely compassionate people of the highest integrity she had ever met. I was sorry that in my many visits with her, I did not get to meet him.

Richard Nixon did far less with the IRS than Obama has, and we all know what happened to him. It is said pride goes before a fall. Based on that alone, the impact of Obama's fall will likely kill him.

I can't wait to hear more about Dr. Carson. - NPC

I like what I know so far. He seems so calm and understated, but makes so much common sense.

I know all you libs hate anything conservative so you will only hate this video, don't even watch it cause you'll just defend your master and I don't want to hear it. The incentive to achieve your dream is starting to go away. (my own opinion). We need to re-establish the co ...

Obamacare Meltdown Has Arrived. Tennessee Is Ground Zero For Obamacare'sOct 07, 2016
last month the state insurance commissioner, Julie Mix McPeak, approved premium increases of up to 62% in a bid to save the exchange set up under the Affordable Care Act. “I would characterize the exchange market in Tennessee as very near collapse,” she said. Then last week BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee announced it would leave three of the state’s largest exchange markets—Nashville, Memphis and Knoxville. “We have experienced losses approaching $500 million over the course of ...

Obamacare Is Failing From Behind... His Goals For ObamacareJul 20, 2016
1) Have it collapse so that single payer can be implemented amidst the ensuing chaos. 2) Have that happen on somebody else’s watch. Obamacare was designed to fail so the Democrats could “reform” it with complete government provided socialized medicine. That is the entire purpose for it. Obamacare is designed to collapse so they can backfill the vacuum with government run socialized medicine. Eventually, everyone will be on some form of Medicare. I believe that was one of Bernie’ ...

Rep Andre CarsonAug 31, 2011
I understand the tea party group is pretty unpopular these days, but is this really a fair assessment?  IMO, the majority of the tea party members do not want to return to a day of slavery or lynching and it's completely unfair to group all the tea party members in with a few that might be racist.  I don't always agree with the tea party, especially the freshman members in congress, but I'd be willing to bet none of them want to hang anyone from a tree. Thoughts?  ...

Dr. Benjamin CarsonFeb 12, 2013
I watched part of his speech at the prayer dinner while Obama sat there looking angry and in his own thoughts. He said he prayed before he went up there to talk to ask God to give him the right words to say. And he did. If you can catch the speech on YouTube or a transcript, and catch an interview when he was on Hannity you will see what a real leader looks like. He made nothing but sense and said the things Mitt Romney should have said or for that matter, any Republican Conservative, have t ...

I do not blame him for doing this. They do not give him time to talk on these debates, any station. It is all Trump, Trump, Trump. Again, we the people won't be able to vote for the candidate they want. I live in a state that does not vote till May. By then it will only be Trump and Hillary. Some way to ensure we get a fair election. He said he had been asked, offered money, etc. to stop his campaign. That is evidence to me that this race is rigged again. This is the worst time of m ...

CARSON: Getting to the top by starting at the bottom The lessons learned in youth jobs can pay off later By Ben S. Ben Carson On Meet The PressAug 03, 2015
So, I am extremely liberal--by this venue's standards anyway. I was at a gathering of friends yesterday, and, yes, most of us are pretty liberal, there are a few strays, and we had a few jabs back and forth, but the point. I was told by one of my friends that I should watch Carson on Meet the Press...it was outrageous, funny, (all the other side political jabbing, you know how it goes, most of you do it with Hilary). I just had time to do it. This is the most reasonable I have seen th ...

Carson Had Better Adress This Issue HimselfSep 21, 2015
Carson, et al. is in "trouble" for stating that a Muslim is not fit for office of the POTUS.    So, the discussion is why the radical actions of a religion should be the judgment for whether a person who ascribes to that faith can exclude that person from holding office as POTUS? How about those evangelicals?  Women's subservience, anti-gay, some are outwardly racist.  Anybody think, maybe, just maybe religion needs to get out of the political process? ...

sort of the way of some other documents...they pick and choose. Constitution doesn't work that way, particularly when running for POTUS. Now, this probably won't matter much, considering the audience he is playing to. In his NBC interview, Carson was asked: “So do you believe that Islam is consistent with the constitution?” “No,” he said, “I don’t, I do not.” Article VI of the US constitution states: “No religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualific ...

Ben Carson Has A Character Flaw ProblemOct 08, 2015
In the past 2 days, 2 casual comments--not borne of facts--just his opinion, and thus, just his character. He thinks the people in Oregon should have jumped the shooter. I find his criticism of the survivors and the damage he is doing to the survivors is obscene.
